Weekend Wrap-Up

We had such a fun weekend! Friday afternoon I volunteered at the Jag Jag at Kael's school.  It was so fun to see him with his friends and to watch them celebrate for their fundraiser from earlier in the year.  When I got home from that, I found out Kylee had gotten Main Event at her school! So proud of her!

That evening we had a family pizza and game night with some good friends. It was the perfect way to spend a Friday night.

Saturday we had basketball games! We were excited to have cousins come watch, too!

Kael played his last Parks and Rec game, ever! He played great.  Onto school ball next year!

We spent Saturday afternoon playing outside. The kids played with friends around the neighborhood and we so enjoyed the fifty degree day! Later that night we went to my parents' for pizza.  The kids had so much fun with their cousins again!

Sunday, Kylee had her first volleyball tournament. We had the best time watching this awesome group of girls.

Kylee had some great serves.

And loved leading the team in cheering after each point scored!

The Jag Slammers went undefeated for the day and won the tournament!

It was a really fun and memorable day. Kael and Kase were such troopers watching her all day.  Kael especially got into watching the games and cheering Kylee and her team on! We loved that Keith and Cindy made the trip too.  It was great having Keith take the boys out for lunch for a little break!

We spent the rest of the evening relaxing and early to bed.  Hope you all had a great weekend too!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful that Kael's basketball practice was cancelled last night.  We were more than happy with a lazy nigh at home for once!

I'm thankful that my sisters live close.  Nothing makes me happier than when they and/or their kids stop by! These boys had so much fun together the other day.

I'm thankful for my village.  Kael woke up not feeling great the other day and I knew he would be ok at home for a little while as I went to work.  But I was thankful my mom could stop by and check on him and keep him company! Doubly thankful that she even did my laundry while she was over!

I'm thankful for the beautiful weather today.  The sunshine feels so good.

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Wrap-Up

These busy winter weekends are making time fly by!

Thursday our new front room furniture arrived and it's been a hit so far.  Kids love reading in the new chairs.

Also we finally enjoyed some milder temps and the kids could play outside!

Friday afternoon Kase came home with some big news.  He got Main Event! He was thrilled to hear his name over the loudspeaker and we are so proud of him for his hard work!

Friday evening was Ashland Ridge Spirit Night at the Jaguar basketball game! We had plans to meet up with Kase's good friend and sit with them. We were quickly joined by a whole crew of kindergarten boys who had fun watching the game together.  Kylee also found her group of girls to hang with.  Meanwhile, Kael went to a game night with his youth group and had the best time playing ball tag in the dark!

Saturday was filled with basketball games.  Love watching the kids play.

Then more outside time! It felt dreamy to be outside with no coats on!

Saturday  night we had the Edward Jones holiday party.  The kids went with Kent's parents' to see the new Paddington movie and they loved it! Then the kids stayed over in Collins and had a great time.  We enjoyed the holiday party very much- Kent especially loves catching up with the other FA's.

Sunday after church we went and picked up the kids then Kael had basketball practice, Kylee had a friend over, Kase and Kent had basketball pictures. Later Kylee had volleyball and we were excited to watch the Vikings game, but that turned out to be a big disappointment! Oh well- we still had a great weekend!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for a snow day! Last Thursday was awesome and the snow was so pretty.

I'm thankful that our pool passes are purchased and pictures are taken. I love a good snow day, but I'm also dreaming of summer already!

I'm thankful we have several friends who have Adventureland season passes purchased so they can go with us this year!

I'm thankful Kase passed his yellow words in time to have lunch with the teacher before she goes on maternity leave.

I'm thankful my sister stopped by after her last day at her job at 2:00 on a Friday and thankful I stay home so I was able to hang with her.

I'm thankful Kent had a good day at work and that we could have dinner out with my parents to celebrate.

I'm thankful we have the resources we do.  Kylee dropped and broke her favorite water bottle the other day and I ordered her a new one. I don't always (or even often) replace the kids' things when they break them, but I knew this was important to her.  The smile on her face when she saw the new one was so worth it.

Have a great weekend, all!

Long weekend wrap-up

Wow. What a weekend!

We woke up Thursday to find out there was no school.  The kids were so excited because they were completely surprised by it! We made a fun breakfast and enjoyed spending the rest of the day being snowed in together. Kylee worked on her giant Lego set she had gotten for Christmas and had fun playing with that.  The boys spent a lot of time playing Nerf guns and Wii.

Snow day fun.
Friday afternoon I had a fun surprise visit from my sister! I loved catching up with her.  Kent had a really good day at work, so Friday evening we went with my parents out to eat at Sonny's to celebrate.

Saturday morning Kase was up super early and dressed in his shirt for his basketball game.  He was so excited to play.

He played a great game! Kylee  and Kael had games too.  We had a couple games at the same time so Kent and I had to split up.  Thankful for all the grandparents who came to watch too!

Saturday afternoon the kids went to my parents' while Kent and I shopped at Homemaker's for some new front room chairs.  We spent a lot of time there and our new furniture will come this week- I'm so excited to see how it looks in the space!

Sunday I wasn't feeling great.  So it was a pretty low-key day for us. We moved a few things around to get ready for the new furniture and made a quick trip to Target. Later, Kylee went to play at a friend's house and Kael had basketball practice so Kent took Kase ice skating! So thankful for our community and this awesome free rink!

Kylee and her friend spent the day baking cupcakes and making slime.
Sunday night the Vikings played.  Kael used to be a Bengals fan, but this season he has started to be a Vikings fan like Kent. They had fun making chicken wings together and were so excited about the last second win!

Monday was a no school day. We were so excited that our cousin/niece Kellen arrived and doubly excited that it happened on a day we could go visit! The kids were so in love with her already!

It's been a big weekend for us!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful I got to rock Kase to sleep last week.  He was having a tough night- just super tired being back in school after a long Christmas break.  He was crying and said, "Sometimes when I'm sad I just really need my mommy." Those of you who know Kase know that this is completely out of character for him.  I seized the opportunity to scoop him up and snuggle him in the rocking chair until he fell asleep. My littlest buddy seems so grown up most of the time and it was nice to feel like he still needs me sometimes.

I'm thankful for Kael's 8th grade meeting.  I can't believe he'll soon be going to the same school I went to for high school! The meeting was definitely informative and I think Kael is really excited for all the opportunities that come with being and 8th grader.

I'm thankful that Kylee loves to watch House Hunters International with me.

I'm thankful that our niece should be arriving any day now! We can't wait to meet the baby!

I'm thankful for dinner out with friends on Taco Tuesday.  Love that our families always have so much fun together.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Friday everyone was tired after a (half) week back at school.  We had a nice lazy family night.  Got a few things done around the house, played some clue, had breakfast for dinner and watched our favorite Top Chef Junior.

Saturday everyone had basketball games! Kase has a buddy on his team and they had fun playing together.

Kase was not afraid to take some a lot of shots!

Kylee played a great game! She always gives 100 percent.

Kael's team won by a single basket! What a fun game to watch.

After the games on Saturday, Kylee went to a friend's birthday party sleepover.  Kent took Kael and a friend to see Jumanji, then Kael's friend came back here for a sleepover.  While they were away, Kase and I had the best time hanging out- just us two.  The house was nice and quiet and he was in his Lego-building element.

Sunday we had our last family Christmas of the season. We met some family at Jethro's for brunch, then everyone came back here for dessert.  Kent's grandparents are both turning 91 soon and we are so thankful for the time we are able to spend with them!

Grandma Jenny turned out to be an expert Nerf gun loader.  Kase loved playing with her.

After everyone left, we spent some much needed time outside! It was so good to get some fresh air.  It's been so cold lately that it feels like we haven't played outside for a long time.

Later that night Kylee had volleyball practice. When she got home we all watched a movie together and went to bed early!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful Kylee and I were able to make a pad for her window seat over break.  It's something I've been wanting to do forever and she is super happy with how it turned out!

I'm thankful for one last final fun day over break.  We used up a bunch of gift cards to have lunch out and catch a movie. I'm also thankful that Kael got invited to spend the day at his friend's house- he had so much fun!

I'm thankful for this picture.  First of all, Samson has always been Kase's favorite story out of his children's bible.  Secondly, he had long hair (not as long as Samson's) when he was little and also has a bit of a reputation as a strong man. Lastly, when he was trying to get up to get his face in this photo he completely knocked the giant structure down.  Oh, Kase.

I'm thankful the kids first day back to school was a late start.  I have a feeling everyone is going to be exhausted by this weekend!

Weekend Wrap-Up

We have had the nicest long weekend. Here's what we've been up to!

We started off with a busy Friday! The kids really wanted to go to Sleepy Hollow to do snow tubing so we met up with some friends there, knowing it would be the last day with decent temperatures before break would be over! It was really fun.

After we left, Kylee went to a friend's house to play all afternoon while the boys and I met up with family who had come to town to stay in a hotel.  We all had a great time!

Friday night we went to an Iowa Wolves game with some friends.  I was worried the kids might be tired after our busy day but they were great! We all really enjoyed it.

Saturday we had the best, laziest, family day I can remember for a long time.  We played a million games of Clue, built Legos, played a family football game downstairs, played basketball (see below- Kase loved being able to dunk with a little help from Kent), and watched a movie. It was such a lovely day.

Sunday we braved the cold and ran a few errands in the morning.  Had lunch at the Olive Garden, then stopped by my parents' house for a little while.  Later Kylee went to an overnight birthday/New Year's party and the boys went to see the new Star Wars movie. I had a relaxing night at home.

Today, Kylee went to a friend's house, Keith and Cindy stopped by for a visit and we have spent the rest of the day playing games and watching football. It's been a nice day and I'm thankful we have one more to get rested up before back to school!
