Weekend Wrap-Up

Helloooooo Summer 2020! Although it feels like we've already been having "summer" break for the last two months already?!

As you can see, Kase was completely engaged and present with all his class Zooms until the very end.  Not.

The final class picture!

We've been having some fun with our best neighbor friends before they move.  Kylee went with them on an adventure to Chichaqua then out for ice cream on Thursday. Also squeezing in lots of trampoline time when it's sunny!

Dinner on the deck!

Friday morning this cutie came to visit while Kylee and Kevin were out for a four mile run.

Then later we attempted to kayak on the white caps at Big Creek but decided to call it and just hit the beach instead.

We had a fun, windy picnic!

And coincidentally ran into some cutie cousins while we were there!

These crazy chicas swam all the way out to the buoy in the chilly water.

That night Kylee had a friend over and Kent and Kael were having a movie night with a movie that Kase wasn't interested in, so I built him a mini fort in the living room and we watched Pokemon together.  Honestly, it was such a nice relaxing night.

Then, Kent bought a kayak! Ha! We took them both out Saturday morning and were so happy with how much fun we all had with them.

Kylee and her friend loved them!

We spent a good chunk of the day out there then came home to relax a bit before the kids went to sleep over at Keith and Cindy's and Kent and I had a date night.  We tried the new Hidalgo restaurant in Prairie Trail and it was SUCH a fail.  There was a long wait, the food was cold and our orders were wrong...needless to say I'm glad we scouted it out without the kids! They would not have enjoyed it.

Sunday Kent and I took a looooong walk before watching church online then the kids came home.  We had kind of a lazy day- Kent mowed, Kylee and I did a few errands.  We've been packing up and going so often (tubing, kayaking, etc.) lately that it was kind of nice just to have a chill weekend day at home. Later that night we had a barbecue with some friends- it was so great to catch up with them! The kids had a great time too.

Happy summer, all!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for things continuing to open up and get back to normal.  The kids were so excited to find out Adventureland is opening this season!

I'm thankful the kids have plans with friends.  The three of them have gotten along so well through all of this but they are ready to hang out with their amigos!

I'm thankful for ice cream nights out and impromptu visits with family.

I'm thankful for Kael's gym membership at Aspen! He loves going and lifting.

I'm thankful for an upcoming date night this weekend!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Life continues to get somewhat back to normal around here and we had tons of fun over this long weekend!

Started with haircuts for the boys! Kase loved getting to go to a nice place to get his haircut and enjoy a Shirley Temple afterwards!

Kylee went to a drive by party for a friend and it was so nice to get the girls all "together" again!

We spent Friday afternoon out at the lake! It wasn't super warm but we had fun.

That night we had dinner at Briarwood then golfed. What a fun family night.

Kael is looking more and more grown up by the second, you guys.

Saturday we bought a kayak, a tube, and also our new fridge and dishwasher were delivered.  I guess we are trying to help do our part to stimulate the economy- ha!

Anyhow, the kids LOVED the new tube and I love my kayak! It turned out to be surprisingly nice and even a little sunny. So fun!

Sunday we got a few things done around the house, put pizzas on the grill for lunch and ate on the deck. Then we loaded up and met up with my parents to explore Little Wall Lake! Just a short drive and a cute little lake- not as busy as Saylorville.  Kids had a great time!

Monday we thought it was going to be rainy all day but when we woke up and looked at the radar it seemed like it was going to be clear most of the day so we headed for Sheffield to the A frame! Stopped for breakfast pizza and donuts on the way.

We had barely hopped out of the truck when Kylee ran down to the dock and caught the first fish!

And this was just the perfect place to kayak!

Kael was the first one to jump in the water and fish off the dock.

We spotted a giant Northern and had the best time trying to catch him.

The kids had a lot of fun together, swimming, splashing, fishing.

My grandpa stopped out to see us!

Kael caught the nicest fish of the day! He has a favorite spot there that always seems to be lucky for him.

Kase ran around the pond delivering scotcharoos to everyone.

Kael loved driving the Gator!

Kylee was not going to give up until she caught a nice fish too!

Even the boys enjoyed kayaking!

It was so hilarious and awesome to see Kase go out on his own.  He was on it for a long time!

Seriously, how beautiful is this place?!

We made it home before the storms set in and we had a nice night watching a new Dude Perfect video  (still a family favorite) and later the kids even jumped in the rain.

Kent said best when he told me, "You know how we always say 'we should.....'" but we never have time to? Well this was the weekend where we did all those things!" We sure fit in a lot and spent tons of time on the water.  A great weekend!!
