Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful that Kent got to spend time with the kids Monday night while I had Book Club here.  He loves taking the kids to movies and they especially enjoyed being the only ones in their theater!

I'm thankful for my Book Club friends.  So, so good to connect with them this week.

I'm thankful the warm weather returned for a little bit yesterday! I'm not ready for it to be as cold as it has been lately!

I'm thankful Kase's basketball games start this weekend.  I'm ready to watch him play! I feel like he was kind of robbed of a full football season so hopefully he has a ton of fun with basketball.

Have a Happy Halloween weekend!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Kael and the rest of the Jag football team went to Sioux City for their playoff game.  Pretty cool to wake up and see this door sign for Kael! Also the cheerleaders had left some Jag cups and footballs. So, so fun for him to be a part of this! They ended up with the win and Kael got home at 1:30 that morning!

He had left early that afternoon so Kylee and I enjoyed a little afternoon shopping and getting Christmas ideas while Kase was still at school.  Then Kent did indoor golf with some buddies and I met my sister and some friends for a quick happy hour to celebrate her birthday! Later that night Kase went to a buddy's house for pizza so Kent and I had some quality time with Kylee after her cross country practice.

Saturday we got a bunch of work done around the house then we were all excited to watch the first Hawkeye game of the season! We made/ordered some fun tailgate food and made it a great afternoon.

The highlight was family (plus Asher) backyard football at halftime!

After the game we we encouraged Kase to run for his Jag Jog fundraiser but he was NOT excited about it.

Luckily he had a few people who were willing to go with him! I was so proud of Kael and Kylee for participating with him!

We had some twilight Knock Out games to wrap up our evening then Kylee had a friend come over and Asher stayed for awhile too.

Sunday Kent and I squeezed in a chilly walk before watching church online.  Kase slept in until 9:15!! We had a lazy morning at home. After lunch we went bowling! It had been forever since we'd been and it was a blast.

When we got home we carved pumpkins.  I love that the big kids are still willing to participate in this tradition! Then we had family pizza night.  It was a good Sunday.

Ready for a fun, busy week ahead!!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful Kase continues to expand his friend's group and gets to go to lots of friend's houses and birthday parties.  They had a blast at Adventureland Inn last weekend!

I love this whole boy gang!

I'm thankful for all this snow! I think?! It was a crazy day watching it all fall down but I'm equally thankful it all melted already.  While it was here the kids did have a ton of fun building snow forts and sledding!

I'm thankful for time with the bigs while Kase is at school.  We enjoyed a quick shopping trip and lunch on Tuesday!

I'm thankful for this group of boys in blue.

I'm so, SO thankful that Kylee got a chance to run a timed mile despite the rough weather this week. She set a PR of 5:56!!! I'm so proud of her hard work all season and know she is happy with her improved time!

Have a great weekend, all!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Friday night Kase had a sleepover at his friend's house.  Right before he left he took a pretty good hit in a backyard football game (by that, I mean he made a diving one-handed catch and landed on our cement patio on his knee.   As his friend tells it, "But he still made the catch! Best catch I've seen in my life" So, there's that I guess.  Boys.)

Anyhow, he iced his knee for awhile and actually was even a little hesitant to go to the sleepover which is totally unlike him which made me think he wasn't feeling super great.  Eventually he did go and I thought we might get a call at any moment to go pick him up but he stayed and had a good time.  Meanwhile, Kylee was at cross country practice and Kael was at football.  While they were gone Kent and I had a fun date night (really more like a date hour) prepping dinner until the bigs got home.  We did pizzas on the grill and by the time they got home, showered and ate, we were all ready to call it a night.  Introduced them to Hocus Pocus since Kase was gone! Hilarious.  And Kase would have hated it- he doesn't like anyting even remotely scary.

Saturday we picked Kase up early from his friend's house and we all loaded up and headed to Marshalltown for the State Cross Country meet and wowza was it windy!!! There were 63 girls running in Kylee's age group- 3 from her team.

So happy the boys were there to cheer her on and meet her at the finish line! Loved capturing this sweet moment.

She finished 5th overall with a time of 12:12! So proud of her! She's been working hard all season!

We had lunch at a fun Mexican restaurant in Marshalltown before heading home to chill. We were all tired from being out in the wind all morning! We had stayed at the meet to cheer on several of Kylee's teammates and friends.

That night we all got together at Keith and Cindy's to celebrate the October birthdays. Krue is getting so big!

Cindy had made a fun photo team scavenger hunt for us all around the neighborhood.

I'm proud to say that Kevin, Kael and I were the winners!

Biggest cousin and littlest cousin.  Love this so much.

Cuties!

Somehow Kellen and Kase convinced us to let them have ice cream bars before (and maybe even instead of) dinner- ha!

It was a great night with the family.  Kael stayed and hung out with us and taught the aunts and uncles how to play Among Us before taking off for a friend's sleepover.

Sunday morning we woke up to a beautiful snow! I made this little baby snowman and sent a picture to my dad. It's kind of his thing and I love it.  Kent and I went for a lovely morning walk before the kids got up.

Then after breakfast we all went out to play! The first snowfall of the season is just the best.

Then the kids went sledding for a bit before heading in for cocoa. We had a lazy afternoon because sadly, Kase's last flag football game of the season got cancelled which was a bummer. Later Kael had lifting, Kylee had cross country and Kase went to his friend's birthday party at Adventureland Inn.

Kylee and Kent had run a few errands earlier in the day and stopped at Five Below- we had never been before! Kylee had so much fun picking out some new things and also picked out a Friends puzzle for me and her to do together!

Then we had a fun family cooking night- made a big meal with celebratory steaks for the end of Kael's football season!

It was such a great weekend.  Love spending quality time with my people.

Thankful Thursday

I'm so thankful my parents were able to take the boys along on and adventure on their no school day on Monday!

It was so good for the kids to get out of the house and especially good for Kase to spend time with people other than his neighborhood friends!

It looks like they had a great day!!

I love that Kase and Huston were accidentally twinning.

I'm so thankful Cindy was able to hang with Kase that night while Kent, Kylee and I went to Kael's last JV game.  We were only allowed three tickets to go.  I just love seeing Kael out there! So proud of the hard work he's put in all season.

I'm thankful for friends who invite Kase places.  He went to the orchard with his best buddy on Tuesday after they finished their school work and they spent the entire day there! He came with a few pumpkins and a huge smile on his face.

I'm thankful that Kylee loves golfing with Kent.  She's had some free time in the afternoons and Kent has been able to take her out a few times for a quick 9 holes.  So good for them to spend time together one on one.

I'm thankful for a fun night with my sisters on Tuesday.  So good to catch up!

I'm thankful (I think?) that Kase is back to school full time on Monday.  He seems to be happy enough about going back since one of his good friends will now be in his class (currently they are opposite days, same teacher) but I know it will get old quickly for him getting up and going to school 5 (!!!) days a week and wearing a mask all the time too.  Regardless, I believe it's a step in the right direction for our community and our family.

Happy Thursday!

Weekend Wrap-Up

The fall fun continues around here.

The other day Huston's babysitter couldn't get here in time so Kase was excited to clock some cousin time after school!!

There is always a pack of boys in my backyard and Kase is loving every second of it.

Every once in a great while they venture to another house.  Cookies and watching football in the garage for the win!

Kent invested in some pylons for the never ending backyard game and even spray painted lines for the boys! They love it!

Friday night Kent took Kase and his friend to the Jag game.  Love that Kael is part of the team so we get tickets and get to be a part of it!

Asher's uncle coaches the varsity at Valley so the boys got to run the field after the game!

Meanwhile, Kylee had cross country practice (she was super excited they got to run barefoot!) then she had a couple teammates come over after to spend the night.  They had a great time together but I had to laugh at their makeup!!

The next morning Kael was a huge help to Kent, getting things done around the house.  Then they took a break to look at a boat Kael has been super excited about.  He loves looking at and dreaming of boats and lake houses!

That afternoon Kael went to a friend's house then to a sleepover and Kylee brought a friend along with us to Kase's baseball team get together at Geisler.  It was such a beautiful afternoon and so fun to catch up with our baseball family friends!

Sunday Kylee had a cross country meet- she ran a 4K this time instead of the usual 3K so that was new for her.  It was super hot and windy and a very confusing course but she did awesome! So proud of her and always love to watch her run. Kase had a football game at the same time so Kent was there with him and Kael was at team lifting.  Busy Sunday afternoon!

Later that evening Kase played with friends, Kael went to a friend's house to watch football and Kylee and Kent went golfing.  Kylee was so happy she said she had the best hole of her life! So it sounded like she golfed well! We wrapped up our weekend playing a family game of Among Us (have you played?! We are borderline obsessed- kids all love it!)

Have a great week!!!
