Weekend Wrap-Up

 This weekend wasn't my favorite.

Long story short, most of us are sick.  Kase's team lost a couple basketball games they really would have liked to win. He played great even though he was coughing terribly the entire game.  He had to leave a friend's birthday party early because he wasn't feeling well and he is still kinda miserable.

Bright side? Kael had fun at the track and field camp today.  Kylee got in on the Crumbl Craze (new cookie place in Ankeny) and got to hang out with one of her besties she hasn't seen for awhile because of conflicting volleyball schedules.

Also Kase went to school just long enough on Friday to receive his Main Event award.

That's all for today friends.  Hoping next week is healthier for my gang.

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for a sweet message from Kylee's volleyball teammate's mom saying what a great addition to the team and what a great player she is.  People are so thoughtful to take time to send messages like that.

I'm thankful for Kylee's volleyball coaches this year.  They are just so great and even check in making sure she is getting proper rest and recovery after big tournaments.

I'm thankful this week is almost over.  None of us have been feeling super great all week so I'm ready to turn the page to next week.  January is long and cold. Seriously the freezing cold temps that make it too cold for the kids to even go outside are tough.  Kase has had more than enough of indoor recess.

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Wrap-Up

 Fun winter weekend!

Friday night was ACBC night at the Jag basketball game.  Kase and his buddies all went up, wore their ACBC shirts and got in free.

The game got pretty intense and these boys were cheering wildly! The Jag student section waved Kase and his buddies over to join them because they had some serious energy.  Kael seemed proud to have his brother over there with him and made his way to the front to stand right by Kase.  I love it.

Jags ended up winning in double overtime! I have so many great videos and memories of my boys cheering together front and center of the student section.  Love it.

Meanwhile, Kent and Kylee were in Davenport for volleyball.  They left Friday after school and had a nice dinner out together.  Kent really enjoyed spending time with Kylee- he gets so much time with the boys with all their similar interests that it was really nice for him to get to hang out with Kylee.  He loves seeing her so happy at Plex!

Great group of girls.

Kase had a tournament Saturday in Garwin.  Competition wasn't too tough but regardless, Kase was on fire.  I had several messages from friends during the game commenting on how well he was doing and he seemed totally in the zone.

They ended up tournament champs! Kylee's team got first in their pool and went on to lose in semifinals to the team that won it all.  A good tournament for them though too!

Kael spent the day going to the gym, hanging out with my mom and dad for a bit, then going to work. Later Kase went to a sleepover birthday party for his best buddy.

The next morning we went to Keith and Cindy's to celebrate the December/January birthdays! Always good to see everyone and the kids had fun opening their gifts and we enjoyed just catching up. Later we were able to make it to Kellen's basketball game- so cute!

Kael had stopped by the birthday party celebrating just long enough to eat and say hi then he went to work all day.  Garrett came over to hang out with Kylee in the afternoon and Kent and I went to an open house.  Later Kent and Kase had baseball then we had our Crew-mas (belated Christmas celebration)! The boys had so much fun swimming.  We had pizza and cookies and really enjoyed hanging out with our Crew families.  Kael even joined us for awhile- the boys love having him around!

Have a great week everyone!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful that Kent has been getting along well working at home this week.  They started his office remodel and I'm super excited for him about it!

I'm thankful for a warm house.  It's cooooold out there, guys.

I'm thankful for a fun weekend ahead!

Weekend Wrap-Up

We had a big weekend around here! I'll tell you all about it.

It started off Thursday night with Kase getting to go with Grandpa Keith and Grandma Cindy to the Iowa vs. Indiana basketball game!

The Hawkeyes got the win and Kase had a great time!

The next morning they grabbed breakfast and scooted home before the big storm hit. As soon as I said hi and bye to him, Kylee and I took off for Kansas City!

The snow did hit and the boys had fun sledding behind Kent's truck!

Kylee and I made it to KC without driving through any snow.  We got all checked in and grabbed a quick lunch nearby then went shopping in the Plaza.  Later that night we had dinner in the Power and Light District with a few of the moms and girls.

We woke up early the next morning to snow and slushy, not plowed streets.  We had time to make a quick stop at Starbucks the were happy to get safely to the Convention Center.  It was a really cool place to play!

Love this group of girls- Kylee totally hit it off with them.

I got lots of video but not as many pictures- but we went undefeated that day!

Meanwhile back home once the boys dug themselves out of nearly a foot of snow (!!!) they did some more sledding! Kase's friend had spent the night so he joined too.  Kael really enjoyed the sledding behind Kent's truck.  Later he went to work and actually the parking lot wasn't cleared very well so he got stuck- lucky Kent was able to dig him out! A good learning lesson for Kael and it all worked out ok.  And I'm sure he wasn't the only one that day!

When he got home from work- his letter jacket had come in! I think he looks so awesome in it and he loves it!

Back in KC Kylee and crew went axe throwing.

Kylee was the only one who had done it before and she did really well! They all had a blast and were pretty competitive about it!

We had a chilly walk to dinner at a fun pizza place after that.

Back at it the next morning!

The boys followed along with the games at home.

We had another great day! Went 2-1 which qualified us for the gold bracket.

Back at home some serious snow fort making was going on.

And we had some visitors at the volleyball game! So fun that Mandy and Brookly could stop by and see Kylee before their family went to the Chiefs game.

We had dinner out with the group.   Sweet girls.

We won our first game today and Kylee was just on fire.  She was so happy and energetic and confident.  Love to see it.

We lost our next one to the team that ended up going on to be champions.  Super fun weekend with a great group of girls and families.

These boys at home killed it- spending the morning cleaning the house and when Kylee and I walked in the door I couldn't believe how much they had done.  So nice to be gone for the weekend knowing I will come home to a spotless house!

We unpacked and ordered dinner in and had a nice night together.  So good to be home!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for a sweet message from a friend after we chatted at the basketball tournament the other day.  It was a fellow team mom and she took time to text me and say how much she appreciates our friendship.  People are so thoughtful and it totally brightened my day.

I'm thankful Kael is feeling better- he started the week not feeling so great but was able to hang in there and get through semester test week.

I'm thankful Kase likes his new sports performance training class! He has been asking us to get him in a group for awhile now since Kael and Kylee both go.  I wasn't sure if he would love it because it means giving up a little time with friends after school but he loves it so much he has been asking if he can go every day!

I will be thankful when Kylee and I get to Kansas City safely this weekend.  Sounds like a big snowstorm is headed our way!

Happy Thursday!

Weekend Wrap-Up

I love winter weekends.  Kase was at a birthday party Friday night, Kylee had a friend over and Kael went to the home basketball game so Kent and I had a date night!

Saturday we spent all day in Cedar Falls watching Kylee play volleyball.  I was so, so happy for her.  She got to start, she played a ton and even served which she hasn't done much of in a couple years.  Her team got first in their pool and we had a fun day getting to know her new teammates and families as well as running into lots of Ankeny friends.

Kael and Kase had a boys day while we were gone! They got Krispy Kreme, hung out with my parents, went to Get Air (Kase got all the way there before he realized he wasn't wearing a shirt under his coat so Grandpa Terry to the rescue- he brought him a shirt.  Kase is the only person I know who would show up to Get Air in pajama pants and no shirt.  That kid.  Love his free spirit. And love that Kael tried to buy him a shirt there but they only had XL. He's a good big brother.)

The boys also had a fun lunch experience at Tokyo Steakhouse with my parents!

Ha! Kase thought this was hilarious.

Later Kael went to the gym so Kase went with my parents to watch Huston's games.  We all got home tired and happy and ready for a lazy night in.

Sunday morning Kent, Kase and I went to Perry for Kase's basketball tournament. His team went 2-2 and had a fun day. Kael went to church, had lunch with my parents then had speed training.  Kylee hung out with her boyfriend then had volleyball.

Kase's coach is one of Kent's best friends and I just think he does such a great job with the kids.  Caught this sweet moment of him with Kase today.

Later Kael went bowling with some friends and Kent, Kase and I ordered in Mexican food and had a lovely, lazy night around home.

Have a great week!
