Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for parents who coordinate coaches gifts from the whole team.

I'm thankful for banana bread delivery from my parents.

I'm thankful for the sweetest gifts from my students.  Gift cards to some of my favorite places, flowers, and the most thoughtful handwritten notes and drawings.

I'm thankful it's the last day of school! Kael gets out at 10:50 today and I'm looking forward to spending the afternoon with him then will be anxious for Kase and Kylee to get home at 3:00!

I'm thankful for trips to Sweet Swirls with my crew and their friends.

I'm so thankful that all of Kylee's hard work and training has paid off.  She has been so anxious to run a mile in under six minutes and last night she did! At the mile to mile race the boys and girls run together and she was so proud to break away from this pack of boys (including one teammate who is always good competition for her).

I'm so proud of Kylee and so very happy for her.  I love seeing her run but just as much, I love seeing her be a good teammate. Before her race even started, she went on the inside of the track and ran alongside several neighbors and friends in different age divisions, encouraging them to finish strong.  Right before her own race, she found her toughest competition and gave her a good luck high five.  After grabbing a quick Gatorade after her race, she hurried back to the finish line to cheer on the rest of the kids in her age division.  She has the heart of a champion and I just know she's going to do great things!

I love this running community!

At the very end of the night there was a 4x400 that some friends asked Kylee to be a part of.  I love that she wanted to join and it was a fun race to watch!

I'm thankful for my job, which allows me to be home all summer with my kids.  I can't wait for trips to the pool and Adventureland and all the fun things we have planned! Happy Thursday, all!

Weekend Wrap-Up

I think I've figured out how to input photos from my phone on the blog now, so I'm going to start with a bunch of photos that should have gone with previous posts, then I'll get to our awesome, long weekend!

Here's Kael and Kase playing together- I just love when I stumble across moments like this.

Kylee has been enjoying 5th grade dress up days and even won first place for her fisherwoman outfit!

Kase had a fun (and looks like sweaty) afternoon with a friend at the playplace then out for dinner the other night.  Kase has been having lots of playdate invitations from friends lately and I hope it's a sign of lots of summer fun ahead with friends!

Yearbook day continues to be a favorite day around here. The kids make up fun games like "try to find the strongest/fastest/smartest/nicest kid on each page". This entertains them for hours!

 Hat day!

This was a photo from my girls' lunch the other day.  Fresh lilacs make me happy and mostly I took this picture for Kylee since usually she is the one making our cheese and cracker trays around here and I wanted to show her how mine turned out!

So, now for our weekend.  Friday was Crazy Hair Day! I had French braided Kylee's hair the night before (which she never asks me to do so I was thrilled) and it turned out so fun and crimpy the next morning.

While we were out and about later that night, Kase said, "Mom, take my picture- do I look like a dog?!"

He came home from school and had gotten the last Main Event of the year! He was so happy and I'm so proud of him for working hard all the way up until the end of the school year!

Friday after school the kids all played with friends outside.  Kent went golfing with my dad.  We thought it was supposed to be rainy so we had bought tickets to see Aladdin.  The weather turned out to be just fine but we were happy to see Aladdin- it was awesome!

Saturday morning we were up early working in the garage organizing it.  Then we took a family bike ride to the Farmer's Market! It was such a great morning.  We got home and Kael was mowing our yard when I got a text from a neighbor saying they decided at the last minute to go out of town for the weekend and if Kael wanted to mow their yard while they were gone they would pay him.  So he did! He was so happy and proud.

Meanwhile, Kase was at Adventureland with a friend.  They had so much fun, especially on the bumper cars where I hear they were making a name for themselves by (playfully) trash talking everyone- even the adults!

After mowing was done for Kael, we took the big kids to cool off at the pool!

On our way home, I had a message from my sister asking if we could join them for dinner at their house.  Kids had so much fun running around and catching frogs and playing.  Then they all asked for a sleepover so this crazy cousin crew all ended up at our house!

They really were so easy to have stay over and had so much fun together.

After church, we headed to the Briarwood Season Opening Pool Party.  The kids loved it! And we loved the fact it was less busy than the public pools.

Then we headed to Ottumwa to hang with Kent's family.  The kids just love getting to see Kellen.

And Uncle Kyle even let Kael take him for a drive!

Look at those cuties splashing in the water!

Loved spending the weekend with this handsome guy.

We woke up this morning to storms rolling in.  Kent and Kylee just love watching them from our front porch.

When the rain cleared we went to my parents' house.  The kids played outside and we all had lunch together and enjoyed hanging out.  We came home and the kids all found friends to play with while Kent mowed the yard.  Later Kent took Kael golfing! They are such buddies right now and Kent was glad to have him along!

Meanwhile, I took Kylee and Kase to the pool.  A fun way to spend the afternoon! When we got home one of Kase's friends came over to play and the whole neighborhood crew joined at the park.  We finished our weekend of fun with Kael taking me for a drive (he's getting so good!) and then watching a movie.  What a fantastic weekend!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful that I'm starting to figure out how to work my new phone and watch.  Kent and my sister Tammy have been so helpful! I'm still working on how to get pictures to the blog without having them sideways so I apologize for that!

I'm thankful for time home with Kase Tuesday morning.  He had a doctor's appointment scheduled for 9:00 so it wasn't worth taking him to school then making him leave so he and I just hung out at home, drawing pictures and enjoying spending time together.  It was a great morning.

I'm thankful for Camp Yagottawanna! Kase has been so excited about going to school the last couple days because there are tents in his room and he gets to spend the day reading and doing "camp" activities.

I’m thankful for some girlfriends who came over for lunch today. I love our village of fifth grade moms- we had the nicest afternoon sitting on the patio watching our kids at recess!

I’m thankful for our proximity to the school. Kylee has been staying late to help her teacher pack up his room since he is changing classes next year. Also the kids always can find a friend who has bikes to the park- it’s just been such a great location for us!

I’m thankful Kase was picked for dodge ball against the staff and police officers yesterday! Day.made!

I’m thankful for Kael’s independence. Yesterday he lifted after school then had basketball open gym. Then he rode his bike and picked himself upfor dinner before meeting us at the ball fields for Kase’s game. I just love 14 year old Kael so much.

I’m thankful for a long weekend ahead and only a few days left of school!!!

Kase spent the day playing with friends. Later Kylee and I enjoyed some girl time shopping at Target even though it’s still in remodel phase. Hurry up, Target! We are ready for construction to be over! We had fun together and found some cute new makeup organizers for her bathroom.

Kael took Kent on a drive- he loves practicing and is getting really good! Later Kylee and I rode bikes up to the sports complex to watch a friend play soccer. That evening Kent has some neighbor guys over to watch Game of Thrones and test out a new recipe he had tried on his smoker.

Hard to believe we are on the countdown- only 8days left of school for the kids. They are so ready!!!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful that Kael's hard work is paying off! He has been lifting and running a lot lately and earlier this week they ran the mile at school and he got his best time ever! So happy for him.

I'm thankful for Kael's choir concert on Tuesday night! He just looks so grown up and I'm so thankful he has continued with choir.  It was a great concert!

I'm thankful for Kylee's 5th grade track meet.  It was supposed to be Tuesday so I had taken the day off, but it was raining so the meet got postponed, then cancelled, then rescheduled for Wednesday.  I enjoyed my productive, unexpected day off and redecorated the boys bathroom- something I had wanted to do forever!

Kylee was excited but nervous for the track meet.  She said everyone expected her to win but the longest distance was a 400 and she much prefers to run longer distances than that.

When I got to the meet though, she was having fun with her friends!

She ran some great races! She ended up second in the 400, third in the 200 and I haven't heard for sure yet but I think her relay team got first!

Kylee had such a fun day, seeing friends from other schools and doing what she loves most- running! I was thankful to be there to watch it all.

I'm so thankful for the beautiful weather! It's starting to feel like summer!
