Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful Kase had fun at the ISU football camp this week!

I'm thankful my kids got to spend the evening with my parents the other night while Kent and I were at a Rotary event.  My kids have grown up past the age of really needing a babysitter if Kent and I are gone but it was really nice for my parents to go for dinner with my kids and then have the kids back to their place to hangout for a bit.  Love having family in town!

It's been a super busy week around here and I'm thankful that Kent, Kael and Kylee get to take off for Edward Jones Summer Regionals in St. Louis today! They will have a fun little vacay and it will be nice for Kent to spend some quality time with the bigs since he gets to spend so much time with Kase during the baseball season.

Happy Thursday!

Weekend Wrap-Up

 Summer is just the best.

Kael, Kase and I had time to try the new northside Slim Chickens restaurant last week and it was a thumbs up from both my boys!

Kent and I squeezed in a quick date night dinner out while our kids were otherwise occupied then took a quick walk up to the ballfields.

Kase joined us for this part and just can't wait until the day he can play on these fields!

Kase wrapped up Speed Camp with a buddy and one of my favorite influences on Kase- Patrick Jackson!

Kylee sends me pictures like this of her and her boyfriend hanging out at his pool.  Teenagers, AmIRight?!

We did fit in time to hang out with Kent's family last Thursday night and it was so, so good to see everyone!

That same night Kent had the ice cream truck visit the Crew boys at practice- so fun!

Friday morning Kent and Kael went fishing with my dad in Clear Lake.  By all accounts it was a fantastic day, and there was even a great "the one that got away" story for Kael.  Love that he gets to spend time like this with Kent and my dad.  Nothing better.

Twinning in the same football shirt!

That afternoon Kent took Kael and some buddies out boating and tubing.  They just had the best time! I couldn't be happier for Kael when he gets to do stuff like this and so thankful Kent is available to take the guys out on the boat.

Meanwhile, Kylee was at a friend's lake house for the weekend and I was at the Briarwood pool with Kase and some of his friends.

Saturday we were back to playing baseball! We went 1-1 on the day.

This buddy just pitched lights OUT on Saturday.

Ahhhh- there's my Kase.  No shirt.  Comfy shorts.  Crocs.  Backwards hat.  That feels gooood after a long, hot day of baseball. He and Kent ate at Slim Chickens for dinner after the tournament and Kael hung out with a buddy.

I don't even want to know how many chicken tenders Kase has eaten in the last few days.

Sunday was Father's Day and there is nowhere better for Kent to spend that day than at the ball fields! We lost a heartbreaking close one but our boys all hit the ball and it was great to see that. Later my dad and mom stopped by and I had some lemon meringue pie for my dad for Father's Day.  Kael worked and Kent, Kase and I went to the Briarwood pool- it was a beautiful afternoon for it and Kase was so happy to play around with Kent in the water! Later Kylee had volleyball and we grilled steaks for dinner.  Kael asked to grill his own so Kent gave him a lesson on doing steaks on the Traeger so that was a fun Father's Day memory.  Then Kael had plans to go bowling with friends so Kent, Kase and I went fishing.  A great end to a fun weekend!

My mom had some fun gifts for my dad to unwrap- this fishing gnome is so perfect! My dad is just the very best.  So thankful for what a big part of our lives he is.  Kael has been learning from him to drive with a boat trailer hooked up and hopes to hang out with him this week and try to back the boat into the water.  We're the luckiest.

Thankful Thursday

I was thankful to be out on the water Monday night- it was SO hot out! Kase had fun with his buddies.

The boys were thankful to try the new Slim Chickens restaurant near our house- they both loved it.

I'm thankful Kase has been working hard at speed camp all week and even offered to stay and help clean up the flags when it was over.

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Summer is the best.  Here's what we've been up to all weekend.

Wednesday night Kent took Kael and a friend out tubing.  We are still loving being Boat Club members- it makes it so easy just to pop out to the lake for an hour or so!

Thursday night while the boys were at practice I hung out with my sister and her kids- so great to catch up with them and they gave me some great tips for our upcoming vacation!

Friday Kent and my dad went up to the pond with a group of Kael's friends.  I don't have many pictures but by all accounts, it was a great day.  I couldn't be happier for Kael and it sounds like he and his friends had a lot of fun, caught some fish, and enjoyed kayaking and paddle boarding too.  So thankful for this group of friends, and so thankful that Kent and my dad made themselves available to be there with Kael.  We're the luckiest. Back home, Kase was having a fun-filled day with friends- all the neighborhood besties spent the whole day here playing wiffle ball, football, having bomb pops and jumping on the trampoline.

Kylee had a great time at HP camp and Kent went to pick her up Saturday and got to see her play in a mini-tournament! Overall it was a good experience and she was so glad she went but also glad to get home to her own bed and her own shower-ha!

Saturday morning Kase and his friend took a FlowRider class at the pool- they really learned a lot and had fun!

Kael worked then hung out with a friend, Kent and Kase went to a movie and Kylee hung out with her boyfriend- a nice low-key night.

Sunday the bigs slept in so we watched church online then did a few things around the house.  Kael worked, Kylee went to the pool with a friend and the boys had baseball practice. Later Kael had football stuff, Kylee had a volleyball scrimmage and Kase went to the pool with a friend.

Ready for another fun summer week!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful Kylee got her school permit and has been able to drive herself and a friend to camps and practices!

I'm thankful for pool nights with friends.

I'm thankful for time with cousins! Also thankful for my dad showing Kael how to drive his truck with the boat trailer on!

I'm thankful for fro-yo with besties.

I'm thankful for Kylee to have the opportunity to go to High Performance volleyball camp this week! She is gone for four days and is staying in a dorm room at Coe College with her best friend.

I hope these girls have a great week!

I'm thankful Kael had fun out boating with a friend last night and then also took the friend and a couple girls up to our church's Food Truck Fest.  Glad they had a good time and thankful for good friends for him to hang out with.

Happy Thursday!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Our first few days of summer have been filled with fun already.  Kylee officially got her school permit so she will be able to drive to all her camps and things all summer.  Kase spent some time at the pool with his buddies on Thursday and most of the day with friends on Friday.  Kase's team had a double header Friday night and Kase was not feeling well at all but rallied and played great.  We lost both but super proud of the boys for working hard and not giving up.

Saturday morning we went to the lake! I can't believe we've been able to fit this in twice already all five of us together.  It was a beautiful morning out there and not very busy so we had a great time.

That afternoon Kael worked, Kase played with friends and had a buddy sleep over. We had fun watching baseball outside on the patio for awhile.

Sunday after church Kael worked, Kylee had a grad party with some friends, Kase played with friends and Kent and I went for a nice long walk.  It was such a beautiful day out. Later Kent and Kase had baseball, Kylee had volleyball and the boys and I made nachos and watched The Sandlot- the perfect night!
