Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for sitting on my front porch reading my new Magnolia Table cookbook, purchased with a gift card to a local bookstore by a student.

I'm thankful for Kent working from home because we often take walks in the middle of the day.

I'm thankful that Kylee is enjoying musical.ly.  She has been making the most hilarious videos. It's been entertaining for all of us.

I'm thankful that Kase is tall enough to do the big slides by himself at the pool. He was so excited!

I'm thankful for such a fun family night last night. Kael helped me make homemade deep dish pizza.  Such a treat and such an awesome memory from my childhood! He is a great pizza chef!

Then we went fishing at Centennial pond! We had the best luck. We caught at least 30 fish in about an hour and had some good luck catching some big bass!

I'm thankful for the last day of school! The kids are so ready for summer and I am too!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Wow did it feel like summer this weekend or what?! Here's how we spent our days.

Kent has been working from home a lot because of his office still being repaired.  Kase has been loving the extra time with him after school!

Thursday after school we got out the new slip and slide Kase had gotten for his birthday. It was so fun!

Before long the backyard was filled with neighbors and friends. It was a great afternoon.

I had a PTO meeting that night so Kent and the kids went fishing.  They are still having good luck at the pond near our house!

Friday was Field Day at Ashland Ridge, or as Kylee calls it- the Best Day of the Year.

The weather was perfect (hot).  I got to help serve lunch with some other PTO members and it was so fun to see the kids!

Kael didn't miss out on a fun day just by being in middle school.  My dad picked him up early from school and took him out fishing on his boat! Kael was so happy.

After school Kent and Kase spent a little time relaxing and twinning.

Then later that night Kent and I went out with some friends.  It was a gorgeous night to sit on the patio!

Meanwhile, the kids were having a blast sleeping over with Keith and Cindy!

The next morning Kent and I were up early so we hit the downtown Farmer's Market.  We had the nicest time strolling around together.

Then, we picked up the kids and headed to Sheffield to spend the day at the pond!

The kids caught tons of sunfish in nets.

We spent a lot of time fishing!

Grandpa caught a nice one!

Then it was time to swim.

The kids love this floating dock.

Kael had great luck fishing! He was so happy when he caught this one!

Fishing buddies.

Back to swimming and floating!

Isn't it gorgeous here?

Kent caught the biggest fish of all!

Seriously beautiful.

Another nice one for Kael!

My parents were up there too and it happened to be their 40th wedding anniversary that day.  We enjoyed spending the day with them and had brought some treats along that we had gotten at the Farmer's Market to celebrate!

We got home and had just enough time to try out our new fire pit before everyone got tired and ready for bed.

The next morning it was so hot, so early.  I busted out the water balloons by 9:30.

After an early lunch we went to the pool and ran into some friends there.  It felt so nice to be in the water! We went home to relax for a little bit, then went for ice cream to celebrate Kase getting Main Event at school on Friday!

Later in the evening we headed to Adventureland! I'm so happy that Kent got a pass this year.  It's fun for us to run over there for a couple hours at a time.  We met up with some friends there and the park wasn't busy at all.  It was perfect!

The next day we spent the day with my family, celebrating my parents' 40th anniversary.  We took a road trip adventure to Winterset, which is where they lived when they were first married. We had such a fun day exploring this cool little town!

We saw a covered bridge!

We played at the park and went through a hedge maze!

Then we climbed to the top of a tower for a beautiful view!

It was getting hot and the kids were all being so good.  We went to Pizza Ranch for lunch then went to Pammel Park to wade and splash in the water!

Hat swap! Ha!

It was such a nice day spent with the family.  The kids all had so much fun together!

When we got home, the kids were ready to relax.  They had fun playing games together and then we had a family movie night- just what we needed after a fun, busy weekend!

Just three days of school this week then summer officially begins for us!
