Weekend Wrap-Up

We had fun celebrating Kase's birthday this weekend! He was all smiles when he woke up Friday.

Dinosaur Hatchimals!

His room was filled with balloons!

He got some awesome gifts from his friends!
Friday, Kent had lunch with Kase at school, then later we both got to go to his class.  He showed the class some of his favorite things and some pictures of himself. Then he got to pass out birthday things (bouncy balls) to all his classmates!

Friday night Kase had his heart set on Taco John's for his birthday dinner.

Then we went to my parents' house for our final April birthday celebration!

Kase was excited about his new fishing pole.

And the kids had a blast popping all these blue balloons with money inside!!

We finished up our evening with a walk out back, a little kickball and then some ice cream and cookies. What a fun night!

Saturday I wasn't feeling great so we had kind of a lazy morning.  Later Kase had baseball practice and Kael had a game. Then Kylee went to her cousin's house for a sleepover while the boys went to see the new Avengers movie.  I had a nice relaxing night at home!

Sunday we mostly played around here. Kent took the kids to Collins to have lunch with his family (I didn't want to risk getting anyone else sick since I had strep so I stayed home). Sounds like they had fun showing everyone how to ride the hover board!

When they got home, we planted a few things in the garden.

Kylee started working on her fairy garden.

Then we went fishing to try out the new poles! Kent and the kids had a nice bike ride too.

Then we had our season's first Orange Leaf visit!

It was a good weekend but I am ready to start feeling better! Also I know Kent is ready for his test to be over and done with tomorrow!

Happy birthday, Kase!

Happy sixth birthday to Kase! I'm so excited to spend the day celebrating our fun-loving youngest buddy.

Here's a few thoughts on Kase at age six!

This one always keeps us on our toes.  "Hey Mom, look at me!" I turn around to see a soccer ball box on his head while we're driving Kael to practice. He always likes to make us laugh!

Also, "Hey Mom, can you put my hair in a ponytail then send a picture to one of my friends?" Kase does what he wants and doesn't often care much what other people will think of him. His friend did think it was funny though.  And we cut his hair the next day- ha!

The majority of his caloric intake comes from banana bread (every time he sees my mom he asks if she has made him some) and pumpkin bread (which he helps me make almost weekly).  He also lives on chocolate chip muffins and coffee cake.

Kase is usually never lacking for confidence and is continually trying to prove himself as the strongest/fastest/smartest.  He was sad about going to a race the other night and I couldn't figure out why until he admitted, "Kael and Kylee are going to beat me, I just know it." I have no doubt that as he keeps growing, he will catch them in no time!

Kindergarten has been so good for Kase.  He's on the young side for his grade but he's definitely held his own and has impressed me with his eagerness to work on his spelling words and I'm blown away by how well he's reading! He enjoys school but he's such an outside, sporty kid that I know he's getting really anxious for the summer.

We spent the evening last night celebrating Kase with a big group of his friends and we look forward to continue celebrating him today!

His cookie cake was a hit!

Fun, athletic, loud group of kids!

We love you, Kase! We are so proud of you!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for our Adventureland passes! Bring on summer!

I'm thankful for the Grand Blue Mile race on Tuesday night.  We love this event and the community of runner friends and families we've gotten to know!

4th grade Ashland Ridge runners!

This is one of the friends Kylee ran at Nationals in Florida with!

Birthday twins!

Kylee's running club

Go, Kael, go!

Love how she smiles for the camera!

Kase and I had fun running the recreational race!

I'm thankful that Kase's birthday is tomorrow.  He seems confused about the difference between his "party" (tonight) and his "actual birthday" (tomorrow).  Hoping he sorts it all out after his party tonight! Ha!

I'm thankful work is going well for Kent.  It's not something I mention often but truly we are so lucky that he has a great job that allows me to stay home as much as I do.

I'm thankful that I only have 9 more preschool days until summer!

I'm thankful for the gorgeous weather lately.  We were long overdue!

Happy Thursday, all!

Weekend Wrap-Up

We finally had some nice weather this weekend!

Friday Kael had a social after school and then a youth group event at church.  Kylee had a friend spend the night.

Saturday Kael had his first soccer game of the season! His other two had been postponed because of weather. It was so good to watch him play!  Kase also had his first baseball practice.

After his game the kids went to stay at my parents' house while Kent and I went and looked at new patio furniture then went out for dinner. A good time was had by all! Kent and I found a few things we liked and loved the restaurant we found for dinner. The kids had a great time with my parents.

Sunday after church we had lunch at Wig and Pen to celebrate their ten year anniversary! Kids had fun seeing some cool cars!

Later that day we went to the Creighton/Wisconsin volleyball match at Centennial. Kylee had fun being the ball girl!

We spent the entire rest of the day and evening outside.  We are so thankful for the warm weather!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for such a great birthday yesterday!

I had some sweet and thoughtful gifts from Kent and the kids! It was the perfect way to start the day.

It's hard to see in this picture but I had an early morning flamingo delivery from my parents!!

I had lots of special messages from friends and family throughout the day.

Kase was so proud of his cards he made!

Sweet Kylee left me a note and a treat by my computer when she left for school. She's so thoughtful!

I spent the day getting a pedicure and doing a little shopping.  I had lunch with my parents and Kent and then went to the gym for a little bit.  It was such a great day!

Then we had a lovely family night- we ate out at Taco Hangover which everyone liked which is a huge win!

And Kent surprised me with a chocolate cake! A sweet finish to a perfect day.  Turning 35 was great! Thank you so much to everyone who helped make it special!
