Weekend Wrap-Up

Thanksgiving weekend was a fun one! This year we were at Keith and Cindy's house.  We really just enjoyed spending the day together, eating, talking, laughing and playing games.

Kent and Kyle were twinning in their black t-shirts.

Kyle had fun with Kael and Kase doing planks and squats.

Kael squatted Kyle! So strong and hilarious.

Kase offered to take Kellen for a walk. So sweet.

These two had a blast together all day.

Uncle Kevin teaching Klee some dance moves while Kael set the high score on pinball.

Big cousin Kael helped Krue shoot some hoops.  Love it.

Friday morning my boys were all up early and headed to Nebraska for the Hawkeye game! My dad went along too and it sounds like they just had a great time and of course got to see a great game! Hawks win!

Meanwhile Kylee and I had the best Black Friday.  We got Starbucks, shopped, wrapped gifts, ate lunch out and watched some Christmas baking shows. I really enjoyed spending the whole day with her.  Later in the evening she had volleyball training then we sat in the hot tub which was the perfect end to our evening!

Saturday morning we headed to Pella for the Central game! Of course we had to stop at the bakery while we were in town!

The line was long-ish so while I waited, Kylee took Kase across to the Tulip Tower and ran around with him.  She even took pictures for me.  What a gem she is.

The game was awesome! It came down to a last second play and the Dutch scored! We were right behind that end zone too so we got to see it up closely.  So fun.

Kael had worked all day then went to the gym, then we all just kind of had a lazy night around home watching football.

Sunday morning the rest of us went to church while Kael worked.  Kase sat in big church with us and I was so proud of him for sitting so nicely.  He's really growing up.  Afterwards Kylee had volleyball training and Kent and Kase delivered "Merry Crew-mas" gift bags to our baseball team.  Kase spent the afternoon playing at a friend's house and later Kylee had volleyball.

We SO enjoyed our long weekend together.  It makes me so excited for Christmas break!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for a fun time paintballing yesterday! Kent had been wanting to go forever so each of the kids rounded up some friends and we went for it! I was kind of worried to be honest because I had heard it hurts pretty badly when you get hit (and it did!) but all the kids handled it really well.

Fun memories made! I'm thankful for a husband who take the day off work to hang out with us and come up with fun things for us to do!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Friday night Kent and I had a date night at 801.  Neither of us had ever been and he has been just crazy busy at work lately so I figured it was a perfect night to go out.  Kylee was at volleyball and Kael took Kase out to eat at Pizza Ranch while we were gone so everyone was happy.  Later Kylee had a friend stay over, Kent, Kase and I watched the Hawk football game and Kael went to a movie and had a sleepover with a friend.

Saturday morning we were up and at 'em early and headed to Ames for a basketball tournament.  We saw so many friends and family there- so fun!

Kase and his team had a great day.  They went 3-1, including beating a team in triple overtime!! Love this group of boys and families we get to spend our weekends with.

Kael had been at work but my mom and dad went home between games and brought Kylee up to watch.  Later Kase hung out with a friend and Kael went to the gym, then we ordered in Mexican and watched a movie all together.  The best night.

Sunday morning after church Kylee had training, Kase had a birthday party and Kael was at work.  We had a lazy afternoon then we had Kael's football banquet!

So proud of him for earning his first varsity letter! Pretty big deal!

The players also got a really nice gift.

So cool!

It was a really great night with Kael enjoying being part of the team and having all his hard work in the gym and on the field pay off. He's a great kid and I'm just so happy when things go well for him.  Proud of you, Kael buddy!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful that Kase has really enjoyed doing puzzles with me lately!

I'm thankful for a great night out with Grandpa Bill.  We took him out for dinner and met some more of the family there- so good to see him! He was doing great and was so happy to see the kids.

Kellen was happy to see Kase!

I'm thankful for guitar concerts in Kael's room.

I'm thankful for the best day in Pella on Tuesday.  My parents and I went there and met my aunt and uncle for lunch and just had a great time catching up with them and shopping the cute stores on the square.  We also got donut holes at the bakery, of course.  Kase was SO happy about that!!! So thankful that I have my days free so I can take little trips like this with my parents and also spend time with my aunt and uncle. They are all just the very best.

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Between the chilly weather, Kase not feeling great, and starting our Christmas decorating- it feels like winter is almost here already you guys!

Thursday night we had a nice family night and dinner out since the kids didn't have school the next day.  Then Kylee and I went to a craft fair in Polk City to support my niece and her soap making business! So, so proud of her! Kylee and I had fun getting in the holiday spirit and doing some shopping!

Friday morning we woke up to flurries in the air and Kylee was anxious to put up the Christmas tree.

You're never too old to write your name in the first snowfall of the year!

Kael was willing and happy to help us out too.  I knew he would do most of the lifting for us but was thrilled when he stuck around and listened to Christmas music for us and even helped me hold the ribbon as I wrapped it around the tree. We didn't decorate the whole house yet but it sure did feel good to get the Christmas tree up! Thankful for my helpers.

Kylee makes everything so joyful.  She ooh-ed and ahh-ed over each ornament and helped me pick which ones to put on which trees.

Meanwhile, Kase was hanging out with his buddies most of the day.

Later that night Kylee had plans to hang out with a friend and they went to Polk City to play Bingo and ran into my sister and her family there.  So fun! Kael had a sleepover at his friend's house too.

Saturday morning Kase woke up not feeling great.  We had a pretty slow morning around here.  Kael went to work and Kylee went to an ISU volleyball game with her friend.

That afternoon we thought Kase was feeling better so we loaded up and headed to Pella for his basketball tournament. About halfway there he got pretty miserable so we turned around and he fell asleep before we got back home.  He spent the afternoon and evening just resting. Kent had a movie night with Kael and Kylee.

Sunday morning Kase woke up early but was feeling much better.  What is it about Christmas tree lights early in the morning that is so special?

We watched church from home just to be safe since it hadn't been quite 24 hours for Kase to be feeling better.  Later Kael worked, Kent and Kylee went for a drive and then she had volleyball. Kase was feeling well enough to go to a birthday party at The Operating Room that afternoon so he was happy about that!

Sunday late afternoon/early evening we had dinner at my parents' house with the whole family. It was the first time that we had all gotten together in such a long time.  So much to be thankful for this year! The meal was great, the time together was priceless.  I love my family. I didn't get hardly any pictures but thoroughly enjoyed catching up with everyone.  We also had time to draw names for the cousin gift exchange so everyone was excited to share gift ideas!

On the way home Kael and Kase were together in Kent's truck (we had come in three different vehicles to my parents' house) and almost hit a deer! I am so, so glad they were ok! Again, lots to be thankful for.

Hope you all had a great weekend!
