Weekend Wrap-Up

Here's what we've been up to!

Last week we were finally able to bring guests to Briarwood.  Kase and Huston had a blast!

Kase has also been staying busy with baseball. He and Kent are having a lot of fun with this team!

We made a trip to Adventureland with friends.

They were so excited about their prizes! Also excited because I usually never let them play those carnival games but this one only cost a quarter.  Sometimes it's the little things, you know?

It wasn't busy at all at the water park!

We hosted Kael's friends' family for a barbecue here on Friday night.  We were so happy the rain held off!

Saturday we spent at my grandpa's farm pond with my family.  Kase was just over the moon about catching this fish!

Kael was the first to hop in and swim!

Kent was thrilled to catch a fish from his kayak.

Kase and Brooklyn had fun jumping off the dock together.

Some of the cousin crew! Kylee was babysitting one of Kase's friends (who had a pool- which she was excited about).

Kase is getting braver and more used to having dogs around!

The boys had a great time catching tadpoles and frogs.

I had fun in my kayak ferrying the kids to and from the floating dock.

It was such a great day! When we got home, Kylee's friend who moved to Omaha about a month ago surprised her and came to hang out! She was so happy and it was so sweet to see them together again.

Later that night Kase got invited to Urban Air with his friend and then also stayed over at his house.  I wasn't sure if he would want to sleep over (he is a little bit of a homebody), but he stayed all night and had a great time.  Meanwhile, we went out to celebrate our friend's birthday and Kael and Kylee hung out at home together.  They went on a bike ride, jumped on the trampoline and we DoorDashed them dinner from Cancun so they were thrilled!

Sunday Kent and I went for a long walk then he went with his brothers and mom to visit Grandma Doe. Later that afternoon Kent and Kylee went to an open house then we went to the Briarwood pool. Later we went boating- Kent's brother just bought a boat so we had fun with them! Then Kael had a sleepover at his friend's house and the rest of us went golfing.  Fun night! Kylee ended the evening with skateboarding around the neighborhood. A great, busy weekend.

Full disclosure: also over the weekend we found a tick on Kase after he fished by Centennial, Kael tried to do a flip of the front of the boat and hit his head, and I wrecked my bike by getting it caught in the crack between the sidewalk and the grass. So...all was totally fine but not as perfect and fun as it seems from the outside.

Hope you all had a happy, safe weekend!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful that Kent has time to hang out with Kael.  They are pretty good buddies and we have been busy this week with activities for Kylee and Kase so Kent took Kael go karting to get some quality time in with him.  They had a great time!

I'm thankful for team moms who have (make) the time to organize things like team uniforms, register for tournaments and all the stuff that goes along with running a baseball team.  That leaves just the coaching  to worry about for Kent which is awesome!

I'm thankful that Kylee had a fun bike ride at Z3 the other day.  They did a huge hill workout which was fairly intimidation but she loved it!

I'm so thankful that Kent can deal with all the household things.  The other day after I got out of the shower I couldn't get the water to turn off.  There were a hundred things going on- kids needed to be taken to practices and such but Kent quick called a plumber and found someone to come fix it quickly.  I'm lucky to have him.

Happy Thursday!

Weekend Wrap-Up

It's been a busy weekend!

Kylee and her friend were accidentally twinning at tri practice last week. She is having so much fun with this group of kids!

Thursday night we had a fun impromptu pool party at one of Kase's baseball teammates house.  The big kids came too and we had a blast!

Kase hung out at my mom and dad's and caught some minnows and had fun with cousins.

The next day he had another cousin and friends over to trade Pokémon. Such a fun day for them.

We hung out at Keith and Cindy's- here is the oldest cousin and youngest cousin on that side of the family!

Kase loves having a bubble bath there. You can hardly see him!

Friday after a tough open water swim practice, Kylee went to the lake with her friends.  They had a great time!

Saturday we hung out at my parents' house to celebrate Father's Day with them.  I didn't get many pictures but it was so great to get the whole gang together.  Such a fun night. Kael had a fun night too at a sleepover with his buddies.

And we loved celebrating this guy! He's the best of the best.  And can you get enough of those fish flops?!

Sunday, Kent's family came over and we celebrated this group of dads!

It was the perfect day to grill out, jump on the trampoline with a sprinkler and play at the park.

We spent the afternoon at the Briarwood pool then in the evening we went golfing.  I think it was just exactly how Kent wanted to spend his Father's Day and we were so happy to celebrate our favorite guy! Kent is the best dad- the kids and I are so lucky to have him! Of course, Kylee had the sweetest cards and gifts for him and surprised him by decorating the mantle with streamers after we had gone to bed last night. It was a great weekend!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful this buddy was ok after a(nother) run-in with the cement edge of the Briarwood pool. The worst of it was on his shoulder but just a little bit of a mark on his face.

I'm thankful for late night gymnastics.

I'm thankful for our membership to Briarwood.  We've been spending a lot of time there this year and we have all improved our golf game at least a little bit! Kylee's also found a great group of friends there that she is having fun swimming with.

I'm thankful that Cascade Falls is going to open this summer! The kids are so, so excited.

I'm thankful that Kylee is so motivated with triathlon practice.  Heading to Des Moines 2-3 times a week means she occasionally misses out on stuff with friend stuff around the neighborhood and she doesn't mind at all. Also, it's usually 85 degrees and these kids work SO hard.  Kylee often finishes practice red-faced, exhausted, happy and hungry.

I'm thankful that Kael loves tubing so much! He's so proud that his friend's dad tells him that he's the best of all the kids they take out to the lake.

I'm thankful for fun weekend plans ahead!

Weekend Wrap-Up

We had a ton of fun this weekend but I didn't do a great job documenting it with photos.

Kael has been hanging out with his buddies a lot still and I'm just so happy for him.

We've been to Adventureland a couple times- it's so nice the kids each have a few friends with season passes too, so we have met up with them!

Kent and I had an afternoon golf date that was super fun.

And Friday night we had a Couples Golf outing.  So many memories made.

The kids stayed over at my parents' and Kase was thrilled about donuts in the morning!

We spent Saturday just hanging around getting stuff done around the house.  Keith and Cindy stopped by to see the kids show off their back flip skills on the trampoline, Kylee had a friend sleepover and Kase got to trade Pokemon cards with his cousin.  All in all, a great day.

Sunday after watching church online we got a few more projects done around here then Kase and Kylee played at my sister's house while Kael hung out with friends.  Later Kylee, Kase and I swam at the Briarwood pool then in the evening we all golfed.  It wasn't our best round but we still had fun!

Looking forward to a fun and busy week ahead!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for my first post-quarantine haircut, pedicure and massage.

I'm thankful that things continue to open up! Our Briarwood pool is opening Friday and the Adventureland waterpark is opening Saturday! My kids are ready to swim!

I'm thankful for a fun Team BOA golf outing planned for tomorrow night.

I was thankful for a couple rainy days but now am ready for some sunshine!

I'm super thankful the boys both learned how to do back flips on the trampoline last night.  Kent got on to help spot them and they were both so pumped when they very quickly learned how to land it on their own!!!

I'm thankful for friends who are like family.  Kase has a buddy who has spent more hours here lately than he has at his own house! I have fed him so many ices and more goldfish crackers than I could count but I am just.so.happy that Kase has such a good friend who is kind to him and always happy to play.

Happy Thursday, all!

Weekend Wrap-Up

What a weekend!

We went to Adventureland on Thursday and it was great! Not busy at all and the lines were not slow or anything.  We weren't sure what to expect with the social distancing guidelines but it was pretty smooth.  It was hot though so we didn't last all day, which was fine because Kylee came home and swam laps with her friends at Briarwood and Kael went tubing with his buddies.

Friday was National Donut Day! The kids and I rode bikes to Dunkin' and brought some home for breakfast on the deck.

Later that day Kylee and I  (finally) had pedicures! Then we headed to the Ledges with our friends. The kids had a blast catching minnows and splashing around.

Back in Ankeny they had fun in the backyard pool together.

That night we had dinner on the patio at our neighborhood Mexican restaurant then came home to play twilight ping pong in the driveway. Fun night.

Saturday was a full family day! It started off early with my sisters and their kids, plus Kylee and myself (Kase and Kael were still sleeping) going kayaking at Sandpiper.  It was so awesome for us to all roll up in our husbands trucks and unload our kayaks.  Later, Kase and my mom joined us too! We spent the whole morning kayaking and playing on the beach.

Everyone went home for lunch and to regroup, Kase and Kylee played at Mandy's house and Kent took Kael and his buddies tubing.  Later everyone ended up at our house to play water balloons on the trampoline and have a backyard grill out.

Then even later they all went to Mandy's house for a cousin sleepover! They stayed up late watching a movie but Kase ended up coming home with me- he said he just likes sleeping at his own house best. So thankful for a fun filled cousin day!

The next morning Kase was anxious to head back to Mandy's early to play for a little bit while she and I had time to chat about my family's upcoming South Dakota trip!

Came home and everyone relaxed for awhile then spent the rest of the morning just jumping on the trampoline and hanging out with friends. We went back and forth about how to spend the rest of our day and finally loaded up the kayaks to go to Hickory Grove- Kent remembered renting canoes there as a kid so we thought it would be worth checking out.  Fail! The lake was totally drained! No water at all- ha! We salvaged the day by driving to Starbucks in Nevada (not the coffee shop) for ice cream and also stopped to play at this park. Later we headed to Ada Hayden Lake in Ames to kayak for a bit before heading home.

Then we had a family golf night! We all just love these nights.

Twinning in their navy and white!

We came home, turned on the TV and called it a night! We were all tired after a busy, fun weekend!
