Weekend Wrap-Up

Monday rolled around whether I was ready for it or not.  We spent the weekend having fun, which means I got almost nothing done.  I woke up today with laundry and dishes needing to be done, errands needing to be ran and a house that needed go be cleaned.  But our fun weekend was totally worth it.

Friday I walked to school with my favorite Jaguars. (Kael had already gone on ahead of us). The kids enjoyed Spirit Day AND their new Spirit Wear.

Kase had a soccer game.  He's so.darn.cute.

Saturday morning we "helped" over in my parent's backyard.  Kent helped quite a bit; the kids and I helped a little and played a little.

Saturday afternoon Kael spent playing football with his friends.  This time of year, there is never not a football game happening somewhere in our 'hood.  The kids all come and go depending on what else they have going on that day, but the game just continues.  Like our own real life Sandlot.

Kael also had a soccer game that day- he played great! I know he was tired from the fact he had been playing football allll day, and it was 80 plus degrees out, and his team had no subs, but he didn't let it show.  He played hard!

Sunday morning after church we went to Geisler Farm.  The kids all loved the new jumpy pillow!

So bright out. Kase needed sunglasses.

I love this little beauty.

Our whole crew! Shout out to one of my besties for capturing this shot!

My favorite look-alikes.

Kylee was able to go all the way around this wheel without falling down! #strong

Is there anything better than sweaty kids in a corn pool?!

Later that afternoon, Kent's parents came down for a bike ride.  We rode all the way to Dairy Queen, then stopped at the park on our way home.  Round trip it was probably six miles- the kids did great! What a fun way to spend the afternoon!

Kase and I had a great morning at preschool.  I had intentions of getting tons of stuff done this afternoon, but when I got home and went to switch over the laundry, I found that I had accidentally washed Kase's pull-up from last night.  Ugh.  He only wears one at night time and it had somehow gotten in the laundry basket with his pajamas and I threw it all in the wash together.  Cleaning out my washing machine was totally not on my list of things I wanted to get done today, but at least it wasn't broken!  Here's to hoping I accomplish more tomorrow!

I'm thankful Kael is happy to give trombone lessons to Kase and Kylee.

I'm thankful for volleyball games with my partner in crime.

I'm thankful Kase likes preschool!

I'm thankful for the weekend ahead. It felt like a long week and I am ready for some down time with my faves!

Weekend Wrap-Up

What a beautiful fall weekend it was!

Friday I spent the morning at the zoo with Kylee and the rest of the Ashland Ridge second graders.  I was so thankful Kent rearranged his schedule to stay home with Kase so I could go along with Kylee. So fun to see my kids in their school/class environment.

Friday after school, Kael and Kylee both came home SO happy.  I couldn't be prouder of them! They BOTH earned the Main Event award and this was the first week since school started that they have handed the awards out.

We went to my dad and mom's to celebrate with pizza.  Also, Kase and Kylee had the most fun pressing their faces against the glass and having us take pictures.

Saturday morning Kent went early to church group- the kids and I had the loveliest morning here just lounging around in pajamas playing board games.  Kase even slept in until after 8:00! Later Kael had a soccer game- Keith and Cindy came to watch.  Kael played hard and had fun.  Later we went out for lunch, then Keith and Kent went for a bike ride while Cindy, the kids and I picked out pumpkins. After they went home, we spent the evening watching the Hawkeye game.  One of Kael's friends came to watch with us and they watched part of it in the garage since we just put a receiver out there.

Sunday morning Kase bopped around in his robe and rain boots (and his slippers, and Kylee's slippers at one point), playing flag football with me for awhile.  After church we had brunch with my whole family, including my grandma. So fun. Later that afternoon, Kent and a neighbor friend rode bikes up to the High Trestle Bridge, and his family and our crew met them up there and walked across the bridge and back.  What a beautiful fall day to be out!

We wrapped up our weekend out on the boat with my family.  Picture perfect! I can't get enough of the beautiful blue skies and these fall sunsets and sunrises!

How was your weekend?

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for my job at preschool.  I'm so enjoying it.

I'm thankful for a husband who stays up late to help me with the techie side of PTO fundraiser data entry.

I'm thankful for Kevin and Kaity's engagement! I'm so excited for them!

I'm thankful that preschool is tiring Kase out.  He's taking naps almost daily again, which means I can get more things done around the house.  And, of course, on the days he doesn't take naps, I feel better about just hanging out playing with him or taking him to the park since I've gotten so much done on the other days.

I'm thankful for a less busy weekend ahead.  Kase and Kael have soccer, but other than that we don't have much going on. I can't wait.

I'm thankful for dinner out with my sisters last night.  Couldn't love them more.

I'm thankful for the sweet, "I misst you" notes from Kylee when I'm away.  Even if it's just for a two hour dinner.

I'm thankful for texts from my kids.  I am archiving their, "Hey Mom, I love you" messages in a Don't Delete Ever folder.

Happy Thursday, guys!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Another lovely fall weekend in the books! Could the weather have been any nicer?!

Friday was a busy one! Kent had a company picnic, complete with ice cream and inflatable jumpy houses for the kids, then Kase had his first soccer game and Kylee danced at the Jaguar/Hawk football game!

There's not many things cuter than three year olds playing soccer.

Lots of family and friends came to watch Kylee dance.  She did a great job and we had fun watching the football game, too!

Saturday we hosted the Iowa/ISU game here with lots of friends and family.  I'm kicking myself for not getting more pictures! I did snap one of some of the adults watching the game in our house- I was dying because the bigger TV (and comfier couch, and the space with more seating) is downstairs, but several of the neighborhood boys were playing so nicely down there that we didn't disturb them and instead we all crowded in the kitchen and upstairs living room! Ha! Ultimately, we ended up putting an additional TV outside and many of us roamed out there to be closer to the food anyways.  What a great time we had.  When my house is full of friends and family, my heart is happy!

Sunday after church we had lunch at Which Wich with some of my fam.  It was my first time there and I loved it!

Sunday afternoon we spent catching up on things- running errands, etc.  We spent the afternoon hanging at my parents' house- Kylee wanted to bake pumpkin bars with grandma.  Later Kent fit in a bike ride and I walked with a friend.  It was a great day! Looking forward to a much less busy week than last!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful Kent had a good birthday.  His birthday happen to fall on The Busiest Day of Our Entire Year, so that was fun.  Between first day of work/preschool, soccer practices, book club and Back to School meetings, we still found time to celebrate our favorite guy. He's not big on cake, so we made a blueberry pie so we could at least have something to put a candle in while we sang Happy Birthday to him.

I'm thankful for a sweet teacher gift from a fellow staff member.  She is so thoughtful.  Little things like this brighten my day so very much.

I'm so thankful Kase enjoyed his first day of preschool!

I'm thankful for one last trip to the zoo for the year! It was SUCH a beautiful day yesterday and going to the zoo was a perfect way to spend the morning.

I'm thankful for the annual Jag/Hawk event at the library.  My good friend organizes these events and does such a wonderful job.  My kids had a blast collecting signatures from fall sport athletes from both schools.  Kael spent the better part of the evening playing football with some Jags.  He was so happy.

We're looking forward to a football-filled weekend.  Jags/Hawks on Friday night and Iowa/ISU on Saturday! Who are you cheering for this weekend?!
