Summer is winding down but we are making the most of these summer days and nights! Fire pit, hot tub, Oreo blizzards, friends. What more could you ask for?
Kase also went to an I Cubs game with some friends and they got to sing the 7th Inning Stretch!
Friday afternoon Kael and Kylee had a church pool party they were looking forward to and Kylee also baked cookies with a friend, so Kent and I made a quick trip up north to fish at the pond before a storm rolled through then headed to Clear Lake!
We had pizza with my parents then played around a little and decided it was clear enough for an evening boat ride.
We caught fish right away!
And then Kase got a chance to drive the boat, which he loved! Happy my dad suggested him trying it and happy Kent has experience too and can show him how.
And Grandpa caught a nice (slippery) walleye before we called it a night!
Woke up and headed out to fish again! Missed the big kids but they got along great at home and I totally trust them and am thankful I have teens who can manage the house while we are away! Kylee also had a cross country long run this morning.
Kent caught a nice one!
Kase caught a little guy but knows the trick of holding it close to the camera to look bigger!
These fish hit my dad and Kent's lines at the exact same time! Crazy and so fun! We had such a nice time and it was such an easy trip- just running up there and back in less than 24 hours and caught a ton of fish and got to spend time with my parents. So glad they have their place up there!
We got back home around lunchtime then headed out to Saylorville! We don't have much time in August to celebrate Kylee's birthday so when I asked what she wanted to do she said boating and eating out at Simon's so this was the day to do it! It was beautiful out.
One of Kase's buddies stopped by right before we were leaving so we invited him to go along and it worked out great.
Kael is always a master on the tube!
Love this buddy. Can't believe he only has a couple more weeks at home! He went last week to fish and hang out with his college roommate and they had a great time. I'm so happy for him.
Everyone looked so nice for dinner out!
Loved celebrating our girl. Dinner was great.
And the red velvet cake is always the best!
Sunday we all went to different services- ha. Kylee to early, Kael to late, the rest of us online. So happy the kids had friends they make it a priority to go to church with. After that we all went to my parents' to celebrate the August birthdays! It was so neat the whole entire family was there!
My mom always makes it so special- love the summer/beach theme!
Love squeezing time in with the whole fam.
We came home and Kylee went to her boyfriend's Kase had two basketball games- they were really fun! We won in OT in the first one then lost the second but the boys played hard.
Later these two jumped on the trampoline in the pouring rain then came in and put their comfy jammies on- ha. Memories.
That night Kylee volunteered at VBS and Kent was taking the boys to The Meg movie so I took my mom to the Barbie movie! I had been wanting to see it and was glad that she wanted to also. It was a super sweet movie but the best part was spending time with my mom. When I got home I told Kent I can't remember the last time just she and I did something without any of the kids or anyone else along with us. Super fun.
