San Diego was as amazing as everyone told us it would be! The weather was picture perfect each day and we made some great family memories. Here are all the pictures!
The kids loved the vehicle we had- a new XL Yukon. We had the best time rolling down the windows and blasting music as we went over the bridge. I'm just glad it was Kent driving that huge vehicle in San Diego traffic instead of me!
Our first view on our way into Coronado.
The kids ran to the beach right away while Kent got us checked in at the Hotel del Coronado. I can't recommend this place enough!
Once we got all settled in our room the kids were dying to go splash in the water.
Then of course we had to check out the pool!
We grabbed pizza to go and headed back to the room.
Then went to Sunset Cliffs. It was breathtaking.
Seriously such a cool spot!
Back to the hotel for ice cream.
Kase didn't get any on his face at all.
We had breakfast at our hotel each morning with a beautiful courtyard and a gorgeous view of the beach. We played catch every morning in this space.
After breakfast we went to the zoo! I didn't get a ton of pictures here but it was a great morning- we hopped on the bus right away. The kids thought sitting on top of the double decker bus was pretty cool.
We went to a Mexican restaurant for lunch in Old Town. Food was great, service was poor but it was great people watching and Kase had fun looking at all the little shops nearby.
We went back to the hotel to swim and relax, then the kids were dying to try In-N-Out. The general review was "good but overrated".
We headed back to the hotel to get ready for our private beach bonfire!
This was an absolutely favorite night of mine.
We had our own little bonfire, s'mores...beautiful views of the beach and the hotel all lit up at night.
Such a great family memory.
The next morning Kylee and Kase walked on the beach before breakfast.
They were excited to find a lobster shell!
Kylee's breakfast was so pretty.
Then we took off for an adventure day. We started at Torrey Pines with the beach hike.
Then we ventured to La Jolla and did all the things. Children's Pool, La Jolla Cove, Ellen Browning Scripps park.
The kids thought it was cool seeing all the seals and sea lions but they were NOT impressed with the smell. Ha!
We had planned to eat lunch there but it was super busy and we felt like we had seen everything we wanted to, so we headed back to the hotel.
Kylee loved taking pictures on the bridge too.
We rented body boards for the kids. So fun!
Kase did it a few times but preferred to dig and build in the sand.
That night we headed to the Padres vs A's game!
Kase was SO excited. That home run chain- hilarious!
We saw several home runs- Kase was especially excited about Machado and Tatis. Bombs!
He cheered SO hard the first seven innings then just crashed. When we showed him these pictures the next day he said, "I wasn't asleep. I just closed my eyes for a little bit". Ha!
Such a fun, memorable night. Plus, the Padres won!
The next morning we split this giant, beautiful breakfast.
Then we headed to Mission Beach! It was huge and we enjoyed walking the pier and also the boardwalk.
Then, back to the hotel for more beach and pool time! We got some sand toys so we could make a more serious castle.
They even convinced Kent to get in the chilly water.
Then we had a late lunch at the pool.
Oh, teenagers.
Then we cleaned up to walk around downtown. The kids got some souvenirs and we got ice cream, of course.
Then we adventured to Balboa Park and Ocean Beach.
So pretty!
Back to Coronado for dinner at a cute place.
Then, night swim! The kids loved this.
They kept lifting each other up and asking me to take pictures. It was perfect and there was almost no one else in the pool area.
Kent and I enjoyed the sunset one last time.
The next morning was our last one.
This sweet hotel employee stopped to play catch with Kase almost every day!
We checked out of our hotel and went to the USS Midway Museum. I knew Kent was super excited about this but wasn't sure how much the kids would get out of it. They totally surprised me and seemed to really enjoy it!
We went to Seaport Village for lunch, shopping and boat watching. We saw a huge destroyer come through which was really neat!
And we had time for ice cream before catching our flight.
The last stop was the carousel. The big kids didn't want to ride but Kase did!
We arrived home late Thursday night and were thankful for some groceries from my parents! We did a little bit of unpacking then everyone was ready for bed. I spent all of Friday doing laundry, finishing unpacking, running errands and Kent had a golf outing with some work friends. I was so surprised when he arrived home Friday afternoon with flowers for me! He said, "I appreciate that you were home getting all this work done while I was out golfing. You're the best. Love you and all that you do for our family." Aww! Isn't he the best?!
