It's starting to feel a lot like Christmas around here! We had several fun holiday events this weekend.
Friday night we went to our town's Mayor's Tree Lighting. It was up at the Ankeny Market and Pavilion which was an awesome location. The weather was perfect and there was a great turnout!
I love when I see glimpses of Kase being little still. He tends to hang out with kids older than himself and being a youngest child, he's just seemed to grow up too quickly. He was so excited to see Frosty and Rudolph and also the Iowa Wild mascot!
We enjoyed hot cocoa, sang some carols and then Santa arrived on the fire truck! Then they lit the tree and there was an amazing fireworks show! Such a cool event.
Later I had our staff holiday party where we got crafty! We were so proud of how our projects turned out!
Saturday morning Kael had basketball and played a great game! Afterwards, Kent went to Collins to help his dad and grandpa move some things and I went to my parents' house with the kids. My sisters and their kids came too, and we had fun baking bon bons and playing outside! Later that night when we got home we watched Home Alone 2. The kids are loving the Home Alone movies so much right now.
Sunday was our first Christmas celebration of the year! We had lunch at Wig and Pen with my mom's side of the family. The kids were all so excited to see each other. We went back to my parents house afterwards and enjoyed lots of outside time!
We played a fun gift exchange game after the kids all shared a special memory about Mamo. Then the kids each opened their gifts and had more fun playing together. There was a lot of football and basketball as well as long walks out back. The girls had fun crafting together too and of course we enjoyed lots of holiday treats!
I'm so thankful for days like these. Everyone came home tonight with happy hearts and lots of special memories with their cousins!
