Weekend Wrap-Up

Hi all! Hope you had a great weekend. Kylee started the weekend off spending the night at her friend's house and enjoying their new pool!

Kase and company had fun at his bestie's house with the sprinkler under the trampoline.

Kylee had volleyball tryouts, Kael went tubing with friends, Kase had baseball.  It's been BUSY around here, friends.  Kylee cooled off after tryouts making strawberry malts!

We spent one afternoon kayaking with friends at Big Creek! It was a beautiful day and we had a fun picnic on the beach too.

These kiddos have all known each other for-ev-er and just get along so well.  Never a dull moment when we are "Patter-harting"!

We did a quick walk through of the triathlon course and discovered that Kase needed new shoes as his were super hard to get on.  We loved practicing the course with Huston and loved having our friend Matt out there giving us tips too! We picked him up Kase new pair of shoes (literally one of the worst things they say you can do the night before a race-ha!) then Kent and I hit the lake with Team BOA.

We had a great time catching up with everyone and the weather was perfect.  The kids enjoyed relaxing at home and we were thankful Grandma Cindy could hang out for a bit and help get them dinner.  They definitely needed a relaxing night at home after a busy week!

Saturday was triathlon morning! We were all up early and Kase was a little anxious about it saying he wasn't really sure he wanted to do it.  But Kylee was such great support to him and talked him through it.  She didn't seem too nervous and looked strong in her new tri suit!

We got all set up in transition and found many friends to say hi to!

Kylee warmed up with her Z3 group.  Kent's parents and my parents came to watch and we got everyone stationed around the course.  Kael was even up and at 'em early to come support his siblings! Honestly he was kind of bummed that he was too old to participate this year.

Kylee's group took off second and she was looking great!

Love having friends and family out on the course to snap pictures of her for me!

She has trained with both of the kids in this photo near her and they were all awesome to have pacing each other!

 She gave it her all!

I got lots of videos of Kase but not a ton of photos but you guys- this kid just worked his heart out! Considering he said he didn't even want to do it, we were all pleasantly surprised to see him come out so hard!

Cousins who race together!

Kase was so happy with his first place finish. My favorite part of the day was watching Kael (carrying a lawn chair) and Kylee run along beside Kase as he came up to the finish line.  What awesome support and encouragement.

Kylee's racing friends.  Seriously, these are the nicest, most humble, hardworking kids.

Kylee got edged out this year by about 20 seconds.  I was so thrilled with how she handled it- of course she wanted to win but she really didn't seem too terribly disappointed.  We said that it was time someone gave her a run for her money to keep her motivated! She was just proud and happy to be on the podium.

The kids requested Dunkin' on the way home and we happily obliged.  The guy working the counter saw them in their race gear and asked what they had been up to.  When he heard that they had already finished a triathlon that early in the morning and got 1st and 2nd place- he said, "Your donuts are on me! That's so impressive! It's a hundred degrees out there and you kids are out working hard- that's so cool!" I know that made Kase and Kylee feel so special!

We went home to relax, unpack, and then I took Kylee and Kase to our friend's house so the girls could have a spa afternoon.  Kase and his buddy Cooper had fun hanging out together playing wrestling games too.

Then we hit their friend's pool and it was just the perfect way to spend an afternoon after a triathlon morning!

Meanwhile, Kael was still with his friends and Kent got a ton of stuff done around the house.  Later that night we offered to take the kids for dinner and went to Uptown Pizza.  By this time Kase was just getting goofy- he was cold, tired and asked Kent if he would feed him.  Ha.  Had to capture this silly moment.

We went golfing and lasted about 5 holes (Kylee would have stayed longer and was proud to show us how she has improved after golf camp! Kase was super tired though.) We headed home and watching Mighty Ducks.  It was such a great day and night.

Sunday we had a nice morning at home together just going for a long walk, making pancakes, watching church.  Later Kael and Kase both hung out with buddies and Kylee rearranged and cleaned out her room then later she had volleyball tryouts.

Kase and his buddy went Glow in the Dark mini golfing- they had Starbucks on the way there but feel asleep on the way home! Too cute.  It's been a busy weekend for everyone.
