Fun stuff

Check me out...not waiting 'til Thursday to post something! :) Thought I'd share a few pictures of what we've been up to.

Here's a picture of our after school snack today.  So fun!

Kylee all Christmas-y before my dad's office party.  We were outside catching snowflakes on our tongues.

Tonight we worked on our gingerbread house.  I think it turned out pretty cute!

Then there's this in our yard....

Fake fingernails from the kids' grab bag from a Christmas get together last weekend.

Our power went out last night right after I had finished cooking dinner.  I wasn't exactly sure how to go about letting the kids eat pasta in the dark...but Kent came to the rescue.  He quick lit a fire, set up a table in front of the fireplace and carried all the plates and food downstairs.  The kids loved our pasta picnic by the fireplace.  We finished up the night with ice cream sundaes, playing games, and letting the kids have a "slumber party" by the fire.  Luckily, the electricity came back shortly after they fell asleep so Kent carried them up to their real beds.  He's the best.  He is totally the "fun" one in our relationship and I am so thankful for his creative ideas!

Kylee loves to give, so this Christmas thing is her time to shine.  She admitted to me the other day (after bringing home some drawings from preschool that clearly weren't her best effort) that she really doesn't like "coloring and stuff like that" unless she is making it to give to someone else.  So, she's been drawing and coloring up a storm around here lately and giving pictures to anyone and everyone she sees.  Also she has loved helping me been make gifts for neighbors, Sunday school teachers and friends. Here's what we made today: (the gift tag say "Thanks you're sweet")

Yesterday the kids wrote letters to Santa.  Kael's said, "Dear Santa, you can bring me anything you want and I know I will like it.  Please also bring gifts for my friends Kaden and Eli." Kylee wrote, "I have been good but I haven't been perfect.  Thank you for letting Linwood come to our house." All you parents out there, do you use this to have Santa "write" back to your kids? It's pretty cool- check it out!

Lastly, I have no pictures to show for it (Shame, shme, Laura!) but we have been having TONS of fun with our Elf on the Shelf, Linwood. Every morning the kids wake up so excited to go on a Linwood hunt.  Today, he wrote the kids a note, a couple days ago he snuck into our puppy chow and used some to write "Do your best" on our counters.  Last week, Linwood had turned a tissue into a pillow and was "sleeping" on the Kleenex box.  I thought the kids would think that was hilarious, but turns out Kylee got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and she didn't know Linwood would be in there and scared the heck out of her!

Now, if I could just find make some time to finish up Christmas shopping.
