Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful my sister shared us some lettuce from her garden!

I'm thankful that when Kael comes home with a muddy bike, he gets right to washing it and Kylee is happy to help.

I'm thankful that when I locked my keys in my car the other day I was at my sisters house and not somewhere else.  Also thankful I hadn't parked in the middle of the driveway so that Rob could get his car out of the garage and let me borrow it to run home for the extra set of keys!

I'm thankful for a chiropractor brother-in-law.  I have been having some killer headaches lately and Rob has been adjusting me which helps a ton.

I'm thankful for my little pool rats.

I'm thankful Kael had so much fun at basketball camp! He got several awards- one for good attitude, one for making it to the fifth grade championship one-on-one game, and one for Hustler of the Day.  Good job, buddy!

I'm thankful for ice cream cones on the deck after supper.

I'm thankful for neighborhood besties. (Photo cred: Kylee- the boys ran out in the field and Kylee hurried to me and said, "Oh my gosh the boys are being so cute, can I borrow your phone and go take pictures of them?!")

I'm thankful for a super fun trip to the zoo yesterday morning with my sister, nephew and mom.  Just trying to figure out how we can get Mandy to stop working in the summers so we can alllll hang out together!

Happy Thursday!

Weekend Wrap-Up

We had a crazy, busy week last week.  Kael and Kylee each had a couple of camps (soccer, basketball and art, volleyball) and Kent was out of town so the week flew by.  We fit in a TON of fun though! Thursday night we had a sleepover at my mom's and Friday morning we picked up donuts and McDonald's which the kids, of course, thought was great. After camps I took the kids fishing at a nearby park/pond, later we went out for dinner with my mom, Tam and Huston, then over to Tam's to play for awhile. Back home we cuddled up in the basement watching a movie.

Saturday was triathlon practice, then some bike riding, errands and ice cream cones at DQ before Kent got home! I was so thankful to have him home- the yard needed mowed (I could have done that myself but he wanted to), my car ironically wouldn't start minutes after he got home (which would have been a nightmare if it had happened during the week when I had all that running around to do), and our internet didn't work (Laura doesn't do techie stuff).

Sunday after church we had lunch with my family, including my grandma.  Later we visited a neighbor who got a new hamster, then wrapped up our day with a quick trip to the pool.  Now, it's a busy week getting ready for our upcoming trip to Colorado!   Here are a few pictures of the weekend.

Ice cream! We had all just survived a trip to Wal-Mart on a Saturday afternoon.
So happy Dad's home!

An accidental late afternoon snooze.

Love 'em.

Kylee was so proud of all the things she made at Art Camp!

Showing off her guns before volleyball camp.

Have a great week, everyone!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful that American Ninja Warrior is on. We love watching it together at the end of a long, hot day.

I'm so thankful Kael's soccer camp was shortened the other day when it was 90 degrees out.

I'm thankful every.single.year for the library summer reading program. It sure keeps the kids motivated to do their reading! Kylee especially was so excited about the backpack she got yesterday!

I'm thankful for sunny summer days with friends.

I'm thankful for dinner and ice cream out with Kent's parents while he was out of town. Cindy also picked up some groceries for me- such a big help and I so appreciate it!

I'm thankful that every day for the last week, Kase runs into Kael's room, grabs a couple hats and puts one on my head and says, "We're on the same team, Mom!"

I'm thankful for pizza, pizza, pizza! Kids and I had fun at Fong's the other night!

Have a nice weekend everyone!

Weekend Wrap-Up

It was another fun weekend around here. I heart summer.

Friday afternoon we went to Outback for lunch (the kids had gotten free kids meal coupons from school) then visited my grandma.  Kylee had made her tons of Rainbow Looms that she wanted to deliver.

Kylee had an acting thing at the library Friday afternoon.  So fun to watch her!

Friday night we did a couples golfing thing with some friends/neighbors.  I'm not much of a golfer but it was so fun! While we were there, the kids had a sleepover at Grandma Cindy and Grandpa Keith's and had fun playing with cousins and swimming in Aunt Chris and Uncle Richie's pool.  A good time was had by all.

The kids got home Saturday morning a little tired from the sleepover but cheerfully headed off to triathlon practice.  Then Kase had blast ball and later Kael had his last soccer game.  We wrapped up our evening by heading to Pella for Blake and Brecken's birthday party.  So fun to spend time with the family.  My crew was tired when we headed home though!

The kids spotted a fox while we were watching Kael's soccer game!

Sunday I was in the nursery in church then had lunch with my mom, then spent a loooong afternoon at the pool.  Sounds like it's going to be a scorcher this week so I anticipate spending lots more time at the pool this week! We've hit a good groove as far as summer goes- I feel like we've found a decent balance of friend/family time, inside/outside time, go/stay-at-home time.  Hoping the rest of summer goes as well!

Thankful Thursday

I'm so thankful for summer. This is my most "free" summer ever- Kase only naps occasionally and I'm not babysitting at all so it's easier for us to go fun places!

I'm thankful Kent gets a vacation next week. He works so hard and I'm glad he gets a break. He's heading up north to fish, which he loves.

I'm thankful for a fun morning at Living History Farms. Kael missed his class field trip there this year since he was sick that day so it was fun for all of us to go!

I'm thankful the kids are loving triathlon practice.

I'm thankful for swinging in Grandpa and Grandma's backyard.

I'm thankful for another beautiful day out! Maybe we'll hit the pool today!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Our summer is off to a wonderful start!

We spent our first few days of summer hanging with friends, going to the pool and spending time with family.

Taught the kids to do a few chores.  #BetterLateThanNever

Hit the pool on a chilly day, then tried out a new (to us) fro-yo place before heading to Sam's Club. Kylee reports that "isn't really her type of place to grocery shop" and she "very much prefers Target".  Couldn't agree more.

Had a pizza party with our cousin.

Had triathlon practice with a bestie. (Kael did it too- they had a great time!)

Hit a few golf balls.

Graduated Kael to a bigger bike and he instantly requested to pull Kase in the bike trailer so we let him ride around the school a few times.  They both loved it! He has seemed so grown up lately.

Capped off our weekend with a little boating and fishing.  #BrotherLove

Kylee was awfully sleepy from having been at a sleepover the night before.

#SuperSummer2015 is off to a fantastic start! Super both because it's an extra long summer this year due to a later start day in the fall and because, well, summer is just super.  How's your summer going?
