Weekend Wrap-Up

A few miscellaneous pictures to share:

Kase loved dress up days last week and here is a group of his buddies on Jersey Day.

His AJF pictures turned out pretty good even though we were in a big sweaty rush to get there that day- ha!

I met with a group of moms to package up some goodies for our college kids!

Kase has been loving twilight bike rides!

Came across a picture of him last week at the church retreat.

Thursday Kylee had a meet in Iowa City and did really well, especially considering it was another hot day! We always love cheering her on.

A teammate from last year who goes to Iowa now came to cheer the girls on!

Kylee had fun cheering on her boyfriend earlier this week.  He had a great game!

Friday night Kase had a little tailgate with his friends at Keith and Cindy's.  They have the perfect location for it and are happy to host a group of crazy boys! Then we took them to the football game.  A bummer loss but a super fun night.

Meanwhile Kael was participating in the Lemming Race!! Love this Central College tradition but love even more that Kael was a part of it and had a fun group to dress up with.  Seriously I'm so happy for this kid!

What a crowd! Also I love that my aunt got pictures and videos for me- she's the best!!! Another student who is from Ankeny also sent me a couple pics of Kael and his group so that was super sweet too.

Saturday morning we headed to Central for the game.  What an awesome group of family to come hang out with Kael and support the Dutch! We just had the best day.  We found a perfect spot in the shade to hang out and Central provided an awesome tailgate lunch.  Kael's buddies stopped by and his roommate's family and we had a great time sitting around talking and getting to know them.

Shoutout to Kevin and Kaity for letting Kase tag along on their walk to air conditioned Kuyper!

Twinning with Kellen.

Brothers!!!

So hot this buddy had his shirt off within ten minutes of getting there- ha!

Horsing around with cousins during the game.

Keith and Cindy took Kase home after half time since it was so hot out and they stopped for ice cream on the way home.  Happy guy!

Kent and I took Kael and a couple of his friends out for ice cream too and his roommate and his family met us there.  Nice to catch up with them and sit in the air conditioning! We headed back to the game  and sat in the shade in the parking lot while Kael tossed a football around with a friend.  We enjoyed a few post-game snacks and then dropped Kael back off at his dorm and headed home.  I just am so happy for Kael and he seems to have such a great group of friends and just social plans all the time.  It was really great to see him.

We got home and picked Kase up from Keith and Cindy's where he had happily been riding the big wheel.  Kylee had been at Garrett's swimming then they headed back to our house too.  We got home and unpacked from the day, did a few things around the house and were happy to be ready to relax and watch the Hawkeye game! Kylee, Garrett, Kase and Gavin had fun twilight riding scooters and big wheels and rollerblades all around.

Kael sent me this pic of him at the Homecoming dance.  He said the dance wasn't that great but overall it was a fun night.

Sunday the kid slept in, Kent and I walked and watched church online then Kase had a football game.  It was so hot but he played so well! Super proud of that buddy and how hard he works and how much he has learned as a quarterback over the last three games. He played his friend Gavin's team which was fun. We grabbed Orange Leaf after the game for him. Then he came home and relaxed then Kylee drove me and Kent to the Creamery. Fun spending some time with her before she left for bowling practice with her PEOPEL PE group!

When I got home from Kase's game I was so surprised to walk in to a HUGE bouquet of flowers! Kent and I had said we weren't getting each other gifts for our anniversary but of course he surprised me with a beautiful arrangement.  He's the best. Also thankful for really sweet messages from friends and family especially a really thoughtful one from my dad for our anniversary.

We love October around here and I'm ready for fall and hopefully a tiny bit cooler weather! I'm never in a rush to get to winter but we would welcome a break from the 90 degree weather!
