Weekend Wrap-Up

Lots to write about which seems typical this fall so I'll just jump right in.

Kael has been really enjoying his ORBIS class at school this year.  I think it's great he has the opportunity to do some "real life" projects and to hear him strongly recommend to Kylee that she take this class when he is in high school was awesome to hear!

Kent and Kase snuck away for one (likely) last evening trip to the A frame. I can't get over how pretty this place is and how special it is to our family.

Going there on a weeknight meant that Kase missed a football practice but I think it was good for him to get away and recharge a bit.  This place is just good for the soul.

Happy guys!

Another successful night of fishing.

This buddy is doing Safety Patrol and a sweet mom friend sent me this picture of him the other day along with a rave review of how cheerfully Kase was greeting students as they walked in.  Love hearing other parents say such nice things about Kase!

Kylee had a meet in Fort Dodge- what a beautiful day on a beautiful course and we even brought Kase along!

Love seeing Coach get them pumped up and ready to go.

It was a TOUGH race for Kylee.  She cramped up about the second mile and gutted through to a finish.  It wasn't her best race by a long shot but I'm so proud of how she stuck it out and was able to finish.

Her sweet teammates helping her to the tent after.

Coach with some reassuring words post-race.

And a few besties rallying around her, mascara-streaked face and all.

In the end, Jags WON even with Kylee not doing her best and another top 4 girl not even finishing the race.  How cool for Kylee to get to be a part of such an amazing team! I was really proud of how Kylee handled herself and shook it off as "every race isn't going to be your best race".  And so thankful her coach talked with her on the bus ride home and made her feel better about everything. Kase was super kind to Kylee after the race too trying to get her blanket and make her feel comfy.  Kael was also a total gem when we got home, offering to text his cross country friend to get tips on how to recover from such bad muscle cramps and also make sure it doesn't happen again. Kael sat with Kylee in the hot tub late that night when she got home and I thought it was really sweet to hear those two talking together.

Kael got recognized as Scout Team player of the week! Here he is with his buddies eating team dinner.
Kael also just recently joined the worship band at his youth group so I'm excited for him to have a chance to play his guitar and possibly sing in front of an audience!

Friday night Kael had a game- look at these two cute cousins by his poster! Love it! The team lost and the game got a little chippy so I didn't mind that I was watching from home.  Kent was there on the sidelines and Kase went up for half with a friend then I got him to bed early.

Saturday morning Kase had an early football game and played great.  His team is still undefeated.

Then we loaded up the whole crew and headed to Pella for Central Homecoming!

We of course stopped at the bakery.

Then went to the tailgate.

And walked around campus.  What a beautiful day!

We had fun at the football game.

My Central sweetheart.

We spent the rest of the evening having a nice family night.  Grilled steaks, watched the Hawkeyes.  Great to have time together.

Sunday morning we went for a long walk while Kael went to work then the rest of us went to late church. Later Kase fished with a friend and Kylee hung out with her boyfriend.

Then Kase had a football game.  It was kind of a fiery one so honestly I was glad when it was over.  Kael had team lifting and Kent and Kase went to Pella SmashPark for an Edward Jones event- they had a great time! I had a football board meeting.

Another busy week ahead! Looking forward to all the fun with my people.
