Weekend Wrap-Up

Wednesday night we surprised Kylee with a new vehicle! The Impala she had was kind of getting a little run down and wasn't worth fixing so Kent found this Blazer for her.  She was so excited!

Thursday Kylee had a cross country meet at the University of Iowa course.  It was such a pretty course and such a beautiful day! Kent and I got into town a little early and stopped for lunch.  Kase went home from school with a friend so that helped a lot!

She ran a lifetime best on this course! 19:28! 3rd Jag finisher!

Took lots of photos with friends and family afterwards.  So great to see Kylee so happy.

Kase got a chance to showcase his running skills the next day at his school's annual fundraiser- the Jag Jog! He did great!

Working so hard!

Friday night Kael had a football game- Kent went and did stats and Kase and I watched from home.  Little buddy has been pretty tired lately and a night in was just what he needed.  Kylee grabbed dinner with a friend and had an early night too.

Saturday morning Kylee had a long run and Kase had an early football game.  He and his team looked great!

Then, Kent, Kael, Kase, Keith and Cindy headed to the Iowa game! They had a great time despite the Hawkeyes losing.

Meanwhile, I was home getting stuff done around the house and helping Kylee with a Foods project for school.  Garrett came over and we all went to get groceries for the project and spent the day in the kitchen prepping a few meals and also watching football.  Such a nice afternoon.

That night Kent had made reservations for us at 801 to celebrate our anniversary. I was so surprised to see he had called ahead to make sure they knew it was our anniversary and they had heart confetti and a special menu on the table!

And that was just the beginning of the surprises.  Once we were seated, Kent pulled a paper out of his coat pocket and read a poem he had written me.  Never in a million years would I have guessed this was something Kent would do.  It was the sweetest thing.  He had written it like the poem at the end of the movie 10 Things I Hate About You (which is an all-time favorite movie of mine) and the fact that he thought to do that was just so surprising and sweet and special- what a great guy.

Then, he pulled a box out of his coat pocket! I did not think we were getting each other anything as we usually don't for anniversaries. In fact, we had joked earlier in the day that I had bought myself anniversary flowers and his gift was that I had finally OK'd getting a fridge for the garage.

Inside the box was a beautiful pair of diamond earrings.  I was speechless. So pretty and so thoughtful.

Then he said, "Well, I couldn't decide between earrings or a necklace..." then pulled ANOTHER box out of his other pocket and had a matching necklace for me! I was shocked and so happy and he's just my favorite.  So lucky to have him.

It was the perfect night and I was happy that we carved time out of our busy life to celebrate being together.  Love him so much.

Sunday morning we went for a long walk, Kael worked then we went to church then we worked on organizing the garage. Later Kylee got a massage (a belated birthday gift), Kase had a football game and Kael had team lifting. Kent took Kylee golfing- it was nice for those two to spend time together as they don't get to do that very often.  Kase had basketball skills camp and Kael had a friend over later to watch Sunday Night Football.

Ready for another fun, busy week!
