Weekend Wrap-Up

Thursday Kylee got to run in her first Varsity Cross Country race.  She worked so hard and before the race her coach had told her if she got in the top 25 she would be having a very, very good day.

Well, Kylee went out there and killed it and got 15th! She cut twenty seconds off her time and finished in 19:51. She was the fifth Jag and definitely earned and kept her Varsity spot! It was a beautiful night for the race and we had lots of family and friends cheering her on.

She had a huge kick at the end and passed three girls right before the finish line! Definitely gave it all she had and was so tired after.

Her friend Sarah was so sweet making sure she was ok!

Hugs from little bro.

Refueling!

A bunch of the freshmen girls.  Love this group!

Podium!!!!!

While we were all in Ames, Kael had team dinner and went to the Freshman football game.

Friday Kent took the afternoon off and he and I went on a bike ride and over the new bridge. We came home to finish up some yard work before the kids got home.

Then it was the big in town rivalry football game! I didn't get hardly any pictures all night and it was even AJF night so Kase got to be out on the field when the players ran out.  Jags lost but it was a good game.  Kent got to help out with stats too!

Saturday morning Kylee had a long run, Kael worked and Kase had a baseball tournament.  It was not our best tournament but the boys had fun and kept a good attitude against some tough, big teams.

One big highlight was Kase getting to see his friend Pierce who had been on his team at Nationals this summer.  We needed a courtesy player so Kent asked and Pierce came up to join us. He played well and the boys were happy to see each other.

He even went out and made Kase smile when Kase was struggling on the mound.

These buddies exchanged jerseys from Nationals too!

Saturday afternoon we harvested our apples! You guys, I couldn't believe how many apples we had this year- definitely the most we have ever had! Kase's buddy was over helping and they climbed to the very tip top! Kael went to a birthday party in Ames with some friends and out to eat at Hickory Park so he had a fun night too. Later Garrett came over and we all got dinner and Kase played Glow ball out back with Asher while Kent and I sat in  the hot tub.

Sunday morning Kylee worked at the church nursey while the rest of us went to church besides Kael who was working.  Afterwards, we loaded up and headed to the A frame.  Kael wasn't able to go along because he had team lifting and walk through and also a Fantasy Football Draft with friends.  Garrett and Asher came along with us. Kent, Kase and Asher got there first and Kent caught a nice one right away!

These two buddies always have fun together.

Kylee technically got the first fish since the competition didn't truly start until we were all there.

Goofin' around.

Kent appreciated how cleaned up the west side of the pond was!!

Kase and Asher out on kayaks. Can you believe how pretty the sky is?

And what Kase calls, "the most exciting moment of my life"- he caught a big Northern!!! He was out on the kayak when he caught it and since Kase couldn't row himself in while holding onto the pole, Asher was out on the kayak and taxi'd Kase back to shore.  He was so excited when they landed it!

Happy guy!

Teamwork makes the Dreamwork!

Here is the face he said he would have made if it had gotten away.

And moments later he catches this big bass!

It was so fun seeing everyone catch fish.  G had a nice bass too!

Kase actually got this Northern on his line but Asher hadn't caught a big one yet so Kase asked Asher if he wanted to reel it in and he did.  I thought that was sweet of Kase and Asher was happy to get in on the excitement too! We were calling Asher the Sunfish Slayer all weekend because he kept our bucket full of sunfish that we could use for bait to catch the big ones.

It wasn't really warm but the boys did swim a litt.e

I love the next couple pictures.  Seriously name a more beautiful place!

And Kylee with a crappie!

Sunfish Slayer in action.

And another Northern!

Our happy place.

Zoom in on this one if you can.  Love to see them having fun.

My guy.

So peaceful.

I couldn't stop taking pictures of the sunset.

And one more Northern as the sun went down.

We had a great night- ordered pizza, played cards.

It is one of our favorite places to be but maybe not our favorite place to sleep with 6 in that house and 2 of them squirrely 10 year old boys- ha.  Anyhow, we were up bright and early.  No better place to have morning coffee with my love.

And he got a bass before anyone else was even up!

Then Kase joined the fun.

Sitting in Grandpa Dean's lucky spot.

The gang.

Asher got a nice bass right before we packed up to head home. We weren't as lucky this morning so it made it a little easier to leave otherwise we would have had to drag Kase away from there!

Happiness for Kylee is early morning fishing in your swimsuit and a hoodie with your boyfriend.

Back home Kael got along just fine without us and I was so proud of him that I got home to a clean house, and he had picked us all up lunch and he even went to take my car to the car wash shortly after we got home.  He's the best.

Spent the afternoon unpacking and cleaning up. We wrapped up our weekend with a quick birthday party for my nephew then on to Kael's football game.  He got to play a lot and it was a beautiful night and lots of family came to support him. Great night!

My mom always makes these fun "Who Knows the Birthday Person Best" quizzes and Kael had to fill his out later for Kent since he was already at football when the rest of us got together and Kael got the most answers correct! Of course!
