Weekend Wrap-Up

You guys.  I have had this weekend on my mind for a long, long time.  We knew awhile back that it would be Prom weekend but then we added a youth group retreat, a new 7-7 football league game AND an out-of-town baseball tournament for Kase, including the first team overnight at a hotel.  I have been anxious about Kael's Prom plans; we almost ducked out of the football league when we realized the boys would be playing outside in April at 8:00 PM on Friday nights, and my mind was also spinning getting Kylee packed up for a weekend away and Kent and Kase all situated knowing they would be without me on a big baseball weekend (Kent focuses coaching and I do all the other things, typically, so I knew it was going to be a lot for him to juggle an entire weekend without me there helping to keep things in order!)

Anyhow.... guess what? It all went great! Here are the pictures and stories.

So, it was really cold at Kase's game on Friday.  And we played against 6th graders (Kase's team is all fourth graders).  But we TIED them! Kase played quarterback all game and did a great job.  These boys just love football.

My friend Emily and I tried to stay warm while cheering them on!

It was a really beautiful sunset and a very cool complex the boys got to play at.

From there, Kent and Kase took off with another teammate and dad for Council Bluffs!

Meanwhile, Kylee had already left for a youth group retreat.

I didn't hear a lot from her all weekend but got a few little updates here and there.  What a great group of girls she got to spend time with!

Kael had plans with friends Friday night while we went to Kase's game, then Saturday morning he had a track meet at Valley.  When we got there we found out he was going to get to throw varsity!

He did awesome and got a PR! My parents and Keith and Cindy were there to watch too so that was awesome.  So happy for him.

And...play ball! Kase and Crew won their first game of the season!

The second game we fell behind quite a bit.  Kase came in and we ended up just losing 8-9! He's been working hard in the off season so I'm happy pitching went well for him this day.

Then, Kael had Prom! Doesn't he look awesome and so grown up?

Man I love this kid.

There had been several plan changes to get to this point but I was so, so happy with the group Kael went with.  Many were friends from his youth group that he has been going to the last 7 years so he knows most of them pretty well.  A couple were paired off in dates, but not everyone, but the numbers ended up being 5 guys and 5 girls so everything worked out great.

It was a beautiful afternoon to take some pictures downtown!

Love this one of us.  Time is just flying by with this one and I'm so thankful for moments like this with him.

He was all smiles goofing around during pictures!

The sunglasses crew.

After pictures they went to Django for dinner then off to the dance! Kael was proud of himself that he didn't spill anything at dinner.  Ha.

These boys made it back to the hotel after their games to burn off some more energy in the pool!

By all accounts it sounds like they had a blast.

Kael came home around 11:00 to change for After Prom. He had a good time at both Prom and After Prom! Kael isn't the biggest chatterbox so I had to ask a lot of questions to find out many details but he definitely was happy with how things all worked out and was so glad he went.  I was thrilled for him.

He slept most of the morning after coming home at 5:15 AM then went to the gym and had work.  Kylee had a great time at her church retreat! Sounds like she really enjoyed the group of girls she was with. When she got home Garrett came over for awhile before she had volleyball practice.

Kase's team played two more games on Sunday.  The first game, Kase pitched and they beat the team who won state last year for Nebraska by 16! Fun way to start the day.

In the end, these boys ended up 3-1 on the weekend and came home with some awesome rings!!!

Have a great week, everyone!
