Weekend Wrap-Up

Between the chilly weather, Kase not feeling great, and starting our Christmas decorating- it feels like winter is almost here already you guys!

Thursday night we had a nice family night and dinner out since the kids didn't have school the next day.  Then Kylee and I went to a craft fair in Polk City to support my niece and her soap making business! So, so proud of her! Kylee and I had fun getting in the holiday spirit and doing some shopping!

Friday morning we woke up to flurries in the air and Kylee was anxious to put up the Christmas tree.

You're never too old to write your name in the first snowfall of the year!

Kael was willing and happy to help us out too.  I knew he would do most of the lifting for us but was thrilled when he stuck around and listened to Christmas music for us and even helped me hold the ribbon as I wrapped it around the tree. We didn't decorate the whole house yet but it sure did feel good to get the Christmas tree up! Thankful for my helpers.

Kylee makes everything so joyful.  She ooh-ed and ahh-ed over each ornament and helped me pick which ones to put on which trees.

Meanwhile, Kase was hanging out with his buddies most of the day.

Later that night Kylee had plans to hang out with a friend and they went to Polk City to play Bingo and ran into my sister and her family there.  So fun! Kael had a sleepover at his friend's house too.

Saturday morning Kase woke up not feeling great.  We had a pretty slow morning around here.  Kael went to work and Kylee went to an ISU volleyball game with her friend.

That afternoon we thought Kase was feeling better so we loaded up and headed to Pella for his basketball tournament. About halfway there he got pretty miserable so we turned around and he fell asleep before we got back home.  He spent the afternoon and evening just resting. Kent had a movie night with Kael and Kylee.

Sunday morning Kase woke up early but was feeling much better.  What is it about Christmas tree lights early in the morning that is so special?

We watched church from home just to be safe since it hadn't been quite 24 hours for Kase to be feeling better.  Later Kael worked, Kent and Kylee went for a drive and then she had volleyball. Kase was feeling well enough to go to a birthday party at The Operating Room that afternoon so he was happy about that!

Sunday late afternoon/early evening we had dinner at my parents' house with the whole family. It was the first time that we had all gotten together in such a long time.  So much to be thankful for this year! The meal was great, the time together was priceless.  I love my family. I didn't get hardly any pictures but thoroughly enjoyed catching up with everyone.  We also had time to draw names for the cousin gift exchange so everyone was excited to share gift ideas!

On the way home Kael and Kase were together in Kent's truck (we had come in three different vehicles to my parents' house) and almost hit a deer! I am so, so glad they were ok! Again, lots to be thankful for.

Hope you all had a great weekend!
