Our weekend kicked off to a great start with the Fun Run last Wednesday evening. Kylee had a meet on Sunday, XC practice Monday and Tuesday, so she went into the race feeling a little tired/sore but really wanted to do her best. She was excited to be the first female finisher and the first place in her age group. What an awesome group of people we have that come out to support her and an awesome group of people that run with her. She will be announced at halftime of the football game next week!
Kylee was so excited that her cousin Huston was running too! He did awesome!!
Family!
Kylee's friend (and fellow Edward Jones kid) got first place in her age group too! So cool.
Thursday night Kael had a chilly football game. He got lots of playing time though, had fun, and his team won! I am loving this football season for him.
Friday was the Ashland Ridge class party day. I love being able to go to the school and see Kase interacting with his peers.
He had so much fun with this ring toss that he and I played again when he got home.
Friday night Kase had plans with a friend and Kael had plans with friends too. My mom came over to help out with Kael and his buddies so Kent and I could take Kylee to the mall. It was great having one on one time with her! She picked out some new volleyball shoes and got a few Christmas ideas. Also, she danced into a display at Bath and Body Works and knocked over the entire thing. A domino effect of lotions and body washes tumbling to the floor. Oh my hilarious.
Saturday morning Kael and Kylee left early for a youth group retreat. Kent and I went back and forth about what we wanted to do with our weekend alone with Kase. It was cold out but at the last minute we decided to buy tickets for the Iowa game! Kase was so excited. He had fun picking out tailgating food (brats and cookies, even though he originally suggested candy pumpkins and cereal- ha!)
He studied his football cards on the way there.
We found a perfect spot to park! Keith and Cindy have parked in this spot before and reminded us of it right before we left when they brought their grill down for us to borrow. It was great because we were close to the path that led right to Kinnick so it wasn't a far walk. We were totally blocked from the wind with all these trees around and also a couple that graduated from Central was in the spot right next to us and they had a seven year old boy that Kase had fun playing catch with. We had a big open parking lot for the boys to run around in.
Kase and I took a walk down the path to explore and he wanted to come back and tell Kent we saw a racoon here. So funny. "Please just play along, ok Mom?"
We have been into playing Tenzi a lot lately so when we needed a break from playing catch, we brought it out and had fun playing!
After we ate at our tailgate, we packed up then headed towards the stadium. Kase loved the atmosphere there!
He especially loved trying to do pull-ups here.
We walked into Kinnick- great seats!
Kase said, "It's bigger and better and even more awesome than I thought it would be. This is the best day of my life." Aww!
What a special, memorable day.
Since it was a night game, we had no expectations of how long Kase would last. He did great! It wasn't much of a game though and we knew we had a long drive back so we left after halftime.
Sunday morning Kase slept in and Kent had parking duty at church. I picked up Kael and Kylee from their retreat- they had fun! But Kylee was tired as you can see...
I took her to her cross country meet while Kase had a football game. He got two pick sixes AND a touchdown!
Kylee's meet was fun. A beautiful course and tons of family and friends there!
When we got home, I went to a friend's Tastefully Simple party and Kent taught Kael a few things about his car. Kylee had a friend come to stay over and Kase played at his friend's house.
Kent and Kael had fun with garage ping pong! The girls and Kase joined later.
Then the girls and I baked cookies.
The next morning Kase played Beyblades at my mom's house with Huston while I took the girls to Target.
Middle school girls are fun.
Kael got to take Grandpa Terry for a drive in his car!
And later Kase went to the orchard with his buddies. Feeling so blessed that the kids all have such a nice group of friends.
Later the girls picked up some lunch and had a picnic at the park!
Then, Kylee found out she made the same team as her friend! She was so excited and it was fun that they were together when they found out.
What a weekend!!! We're headed off to Kael's football game in Waukee now- it should be a beautiful night for a game. Can't wait!
