It's been a busy, fun few days!
Thursday Kase had his school fundraiser- the Jag Jog! I wasn't able to go since I was at work but my parents went to watch and I had several friends text pictures too. So thankful for my village. It was a chilly morning for a run but Kase had fun! He kept telling people "It isn't really a race" but I know he was happy to come in third in his age group!
That night we had my dad's retirement party! We had such a nice night celebrating him. Everything came together so nicely- the food, the decorations, and so many people stopped by to congratulate my dad and wish him well. So very happy for him and what a fun night with the family.
Friday night was the (twice rescheduled) Ashland Ridge bonfire at Geisler Farms! Kase had a buddy ride along with us and also found lots of friends there to run around with.
Kylee had friends there too! They all enjoyed the s'mores. It was a beautiful night for the event!
Kael was at a sleepover with friends (again!)
Saturday was the perfect lazy, rainy, cozy morning. Kylee and Kase got out the Legos even! My parents stopped by to help with party set up and Kylee went to a movie with a friend.
Kael got home from his sleepover- soaking wet an so happy from having fun playing Pokémon Go with his friends. Later we watched the Hawk game then all went to watch Kylee's volleyball game. She played great! I tried to get a video of her jump serving- she got several in a row, then as soon as I got out my phone to record her, she missed. I swear that always happens!
Anyhow, the weather cleared so Kent and I went for a walk when we got home, the boys played outside with friends and Kylee babysat for neighbors. Then Kael drove Kent and they went to the gym for a bit. Later we grilled out then Kent and Kael went to a movie while I had a nice night in with Kylee and Kase.
Sunday morning the kids slept in, Kent and I went for a walk, then we spent the morning getting ready for the Ankeny Edward Jones FA fall barbecue. The kids were such good helpers getting the house and garage ready and I was so thankful for my parents who helped out a ton too! Then we split up- Kent, Kael and my mom went to Kase's football game while my dad and I went to Kylee's cross-country meet. The third play of the game Kase had a pick 6! Then shortly after that he got another one and also another touchdown! I was so happy for him. He called me after the game to tell me all about it. Kylee had a great race on a muddy, hilly course. She got fourth overall but was hoping for a better time. I encouraged her not to be so hard on herself but also told her I was proud of her that she wants to keep pushing herself to be better. Regardless, we always have a great time with her cross country group and love cheering on her friends and teammates too.
We got home in enough time to quick change and clean up and get ready for the party!
I'm so sad I didn't get any pictures but we had SUCH a nice time with our Edward Jones friends. The weather turned out to be gorgeous and we were able to hang out in the garage all night! The kids (all 25 of them) ran back and forth between the backyard and the park and had a lot of fun together. We really enjoyed catching up with everyone!
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend too!
