Weekend Wrap-Up

It was another great weekend around here!

Kael spent Friday with my parents.  He had the best time mini golfing, going out to eat and baking cookies.  Time with grandparents is so special.

Meanwhile, one of my very best friends was in town so she and I went to the pool with Kylee, Kase and their friends.  It was so good to catch up!

Friday evening Kent and I took Kylee and Kase golfing.  They are getting really good! And most of all, they enjoy being out there so it's fun for all of us.

Saturday morning was Triathlon Day! Also known as one of my favorite days of the whole year.  Especially this year because all three kids could participate!

Kase was a little goofy/nervous on the ride out there.

It was a new course this year so we got there plenty early to get all checked in and set up!

Kael's group was up first.  He looked like he was feeling great and going strong!

Kylee's age group followed Kael.  She was a little nervous since this year was the first year for her for the long course- over double the length of previous years!

Loved watching them cross the finish line- so proud of them! In the meantime, Kase and his buddies waited patiently for their turn to go. Ha! Mostly they messed around dipping their toes in the pool and playing tag.

He took off and ran hard after the swim to the transition area!

So, so proud of them!

Kylee got first place in her age group and she was thrilled.  Kael got fourth and was happy with that.  Kase placed in the top 10- pretty good for his first race!

Later my dad took Kylee to the USATF meet at Drake.  What a cool experience for her! She got to see some pretty amazing runners! While they were there, I took the boys to the pool and Kent worked on organizing the garage in hopes of getting his new truck this week!

We celebrated that night with dinner out with my parents, then a family movie night in! It was such a great day and I can't say enough about the City of Ankeny and volunteers to help put on this awesome event.

Sunday we went to my grandpa's pond up in Sheffield.  What a peaceful, beautiful place. Kent and my dad had gone up early to work and trim- the kids slept in and my mom and I brought them up later.

Everyone caught a lot of fish!

Twinning.

Kase couldn't believe the fish took his bait!

The kids loved driving the gator around too.

They also took the boat out to the floating dock and had so much fun jumping in. Love when my "city" kids get out and have some "country" fun!

Oh, Kase.  Scarred, tanned, and Dorito-faced.

He loved picking sweet corn and apples with Grandpa Dean!

It was just the perfect way to spend a day. I love that my kids will have memories of this special place like I do! And I'm so thankful for my parents who go along and help make sure the place is all cleaned up and ready for us and tidy up afterwards.  Great to spend time with them.

Sunday evening Kylee spent the night at a friend's house and Kael had a buddy come stay here.  It was a great weekend!
