Hello from the other side of Summerfest weekend! Our local summer celebration is always a favorite few days for the kids.
A friend asked if Kase would do the Carboard Boat Regatta with their son and Kase said yes. We had fun getting together with them and constructing it!
A sturdy design!
Meanwhile, Kylee was having fun with friends.
And helping me harvest green beans from our garden!
Friday night was the Kiddie Parade. Every year it's a last minute decision if we're going to do it or not. Kael had woken up with a crazy rash and Kase had woken up with a yucky eye- I took both of them to the doctor right away and got them on meds and everyone was fine by evening. So Kael and Kylee went to the Teen Splash Dance and Kase decided to participate in the parade! The them was Giddy Up.
He was happy to ride along with cousins!
They had Kent, Kael and Kylee and my mom cheering them on.
Afterwards we took Kase up to the carnival. He picked to have a snow cone and do two rides and one game.
You would not believe the excitement when he won this! We had a lot of fun spending time with just Kase doing Summerfest. It's not often that both Kent and I are alone with him and it was so great seeing him be excited about something that Kael and Kylee are kind of over since they've done it for ten years.
The next morning was the Grand Parade. There was a new route this year- we usually sit with my family and we have the best spot that my mom saves but we had to find somewhere new this year. Kylee's friend offered up their house which was towards the very end of the route. We had Kent's family join us- it was a great morning!
Kase had fun climbing trees with his friend.
Kael officially passed Grandpa Keith in height!
And we all had fun snuggling Kellen! We recently found out that baby number 2 is on the way and we can't wait! So glad Kevin and Kaity moved to town so we can see more of them!
Saturday afternoon was the Regatta! Kase said he was a little nervous but he seemed pretty excited too.
They were in the very first heat! I was SO proud of them- they rowed nice and steady and finished the race without tipping over. They got second in their heat, but our (giant) cheering section seems to think it was a photo finish and we technically should have gotten first.
Either way, they were happy to be a part of it! Kent served watermelon with the Edward Jones group- it was such a hot day and he works so hard getting it all set up so we were all pretty tired once the Regatta was over.
The kids went to a movie and for a sleepover in Collins so Kent and I went out for dinner then went up to Summerfest for awhile with friends.
Sunday we got a few things done around the house and then tried the new Mexican restaurant in town. Kase went up to the carnival with a friend. It was SO hot out but Kael and Kylee wanted to go up and check it out too.
They each decided to just do one ride then hit the pool!
Kent and I were back home setting up for Smokefest! It is such a favorite day for the kids.
Kylee helped me make this berry cheese flag- so festive! I can always count on her to help me out!
Kael watched the clock and made sure to put the signs out at 5:00 on the dot.
The guys all smoke a bunch of meat and we put tons of snacks and food out. The kids ride their bikes like crazy up and down the street then finally found some shade to relax and eat!
What a crew! The event seems to get bigger every year.
This year someone got out water balloons which was a welcome treat for the kids.
And the fire trucks and ambulance came this year too!
At the end of the night we had ice cream sundaes for our neighbor's 40th birthday.
Then sat down for fireworks. What a great night with our neighbors!
Life slows down for us a little this week and I can't wait. We have a few less camps and activities and no more trips for a couple weeks so I'm looking forward to clocking lots of time just hanging out with the kiddos!
