Weekend Wrap-Up

Let's rewind to Thursday night.  The kids had earned "Homerun Reader" tickets to the I Cubs through our library reading program, so off we went!  Kase fell asleep on the way there.  We met some friends there, the kids got icees (which helped as we were having a hard time getting Kase to wake up), and a good time was had by all.

Big brothers give good piggy back rides.

Friday, the kids found out their teachers.  Both are happy with their teachers (honestly at our school there isn't a bad teacher to be found, but the kids always have one or two they're really hoping for). Neither Kael nor Kylee have any of their really close friends in their classes but they don't seemed too bummed about that.  The certainty of seeing friends at lunch and recess helps.

Friday night we went out for dinner with neighbor friends.  We had the nicest time at Johnny's Steakhouse, then back here to play some games.  Truly we have the BEST group of friends.

Saturday was Kylee's party.  She wanted to take friends for pedicures and to Tropical Sno which seemed to be a perfect eight year old party as far as I'm concerned.  The girls were a dream and I think Kylee really enjoyed her day.

Sunday morning, the birthday girl woke up long before her brothers and waited so patiently for them to wake so she could open gifts! She was so happy with her room filled with balloons and Happy Birthday written all over the bathroom mirror.  So easy to please. :) We finally let her wake her brothers up and spent the morning opening presents, eating, and hanging out with Grandma Cindy.

Donuts in the shape of an 8!

The birthday girl's game of choice was Candyland.

For lunch, Kylee chose a pretty simple meal- we grilled chicken and had some favorite sides.  For dessert she requested homemade ice cream cake. Later that evening we went to my parents' house to celebrate.  I haven't gotten the pictures from my mom's camera yet but here are a few from my phone.  My mom always has the place decorated so nicely for birthdays! Pink table cloth, pink plates and napkins, the whole nine.  We ordered Casey's pizza and had DQ ice cream cake.  It was a great weekend!

Kylee couldn't have been happier about this bottle of glitter glue! See above reference about being easy to please.

She was excited for some spending money! She also got a big tub filled with balloons and inside each balloon was a dollar bill.  Day.made.

We got snapped back to reality late last night as all the kids came down with some sort of bug.  It was short lived, but it definitely left me with *loads* of laundry to do.  I'm feeling like it's crunch time as far as back to school goes- the next week or so is filled with dentist appointments, haircuts and all sorts of last minute things before the kids go back in a couple weeks.  Also, hoping to squeeze in some last minute things off our summer bucket list! Hope you all had a good weekend!
