Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful that when Kael and a bunch of boys were playing at the park the other day, another kid who lives near the park (and has a basketball hoop at his house) ran over and asked Kael (and only Kael) in front of all the other kids if Kael could come shoot baskets with him.  What an ego boost for Kael.

I'm thankful Kylee likes loves her new gymnastics class. She was even Star Student on Wednesday!

I'm thankful for our school's support of Light It Up Blue for Autism Awareness yesterday.  I was blown away by the number of kids wearing blue!

I'm thankful Kent's grandma is doing well after surgery on Monday.

I'm thankful Kent officially got the shower up and runnin' downstairs! Now if we only had walls down there.  And a door.

I'm thankful that my neighbor's baby will start coming here on Monday! Kaser and I are ready for some company.

I'm thankful the kids appreciated my attempt at an April Fool's Joke on Tuesday.  I did the jell-o in a cup with a straw thing...I'm sure you've seen it and I failed to get a picture of it, but it was so funny seeing them try to suck the "juice" through their straws only to realize it wasn't juice at all! Ha!

I'm thankful for the awesome opportunities Kael has had in his classroom this year.  Yesterday, Simon Estes came back to his class with a news crew and the kids got to sing! (Locals, they'll be on Channel 8 on Monday.  Not sure what time yet.)

I'm thankful for the recipe I found using Oreos instead of Rice Krispies to make Rice Krispie bars. In other words, crushed Oreos coated with butter and marshmallows.  The entire pan was almost gone in one night.

I'm thankful we ran into some friends at McDonald's the other day. Their daughter had fun helping Kase up the stairs so that he could go down the slide- something he has never done on his own before!

I'm also thankful for the manager at McDonald's who brought me free coffee- what a nice surprise! I had seen some signs up that said, "Free Coffee March 31-April 13" or something like that and when I asked the lady about it when I placed our order, she told me it was only during breakfast hours.  No biggie.  Anyhow, the manager must have heard me ask about it and took it upon herself to bring me some out for free anyways! Who doesn't love free coffee?!

I'm thankful after nearly two years of living here, we now get the Ankeny Press Citizen!

What are you thankful for today?
