Weekend Wrap-Up

Summer is in full swing around here and I am happy to report we are making the very most of our time.  Kent and I were even able to squeeze in a round of golf with our besties the other night! And we all actually golfed really well!

Meanwhile Keith and Cindy took Kase, Asher, Kylee and G to an I-Cubs game while Kael had a thing at church. Love that Kael is involved with our youth group Dual Tract and loved that Keith and Cindy could help out with the rest of our gang and had a fun night with them!

Kylee has had a fun summer watching her boyfriend's baseball.  They wrapped up their season last week.

Thursday it was a little rainy and Kase wanted to go to SkyZone or Urban Air or anything but since it's right before state baseball and I didn't want to risk an injury, we ended up at Operating Room with Kase, Kael and one of Kase's friends (here they are pointing to the sign that says, "Is this heaven? No, it's Iowa!" - a nod to the Field of Dreams tournament we just played in!

Anyhow, they had a fun time burning off some energy there then came home and rolled each other up in my rug like a taco because, boys.

Saturday Kase had State Baseball and we were so lucky our games were scheduled at Prairie Ridge- so close to our house! We won BIG the first game and Kase was thrilled to see Brooklyn and the rest of the fam cheering him on!

Second game was against a team we don't love.  Their coaches argue everything and just aren't nice guys.  So, imagine my elation when Kase hit a home run this game!!!!

I was SO happy for him.  I actually had never seen him hit one in person before! This is the fourth time he has hit one but I have been with the other kids and watching on Game Changer each time he hit the other ones!

These are the Bash Brothers.  Kase's buddy Ben hit a home run the first game then Kase hit one the next game so they are tied up with 3 home runs each this season!

We had a great cheering squad for this game too!

Kase was so excited his siblings were there and even gave them a high five through the fence on the way in from his home run!

Kase and his best buddy AP.

After the games Kael was going up to Summerfest to meet up with his future roommate, his roommates sister and a friend and we got to meet them! I'm so excited for Kael- he and Logan seem to get along great and he seems like an awesome guy! Kylee was also going up to Summerfest with friends and they had a fun time for awhile then went back to our house to hang out.

Kase met up with a few buddies and had fun doing the games and a couple rides- then early to bed for more baseball the next day!

Sunday the Crew boys lost their first one in extra innings but came back to win the next two! Kase hit another home run! And he pitched an absolute gem. Watching this little buddy do what he loves and playing with his best friends and having the family all come watch him- it's something really special.

The Bash Brothers! Or the Bomb Besties! Whatever you want to call them- these two are in a home run race and tied at four a piece for the season!

Kylee and Garrett were the only ones who made it up to see the Summerfest fireworks.  They timed it just right and were at the top of the ferris wheel when the fireworks went off- so cool!

Monday the boys came hyped and in their new jerseys!

Kase hit a home run his very first at bat! He had a home run every single day of this three day tournament- WOW!

Good lucky charm Brooklyn was there!!!

And the grandparents too! (Didn't get one with Keith and Cindy but they were there of course!)

Oh this buddy.  He just loves the game so very much.

We won the first game- a super close one 2-1 against a team that beat us yesterday so we got to turn our jerseys to the gold side! Kael was rocking the gold too!

We played well but in the end we were runners-up.  So impressed with how we played these three days and couldn't be more proud of these boys for an awesome season.

These two sure put in a lot of time working together on baseball. We've made a lot of great memories at the fields.

Some of the squad that was there supporting Kase! Tam and Rob and the kids were there too but had to take off after the game and Kylee and Garrett were there too!

So happy for him.  An exhausting but rewarding weekend!

A pool party to celebrate!

Crew 11U season in the books.  Love this group so much!
