Weekend Wrap-Up

Prepare yourself for tons of pictures from our getaway to Okoboji!

But first, the end of our week.  It was a crazy busy one- Kase had basketball camp and baseball camp and practices, Kael had early football and work all week, Kylee had XC, volleyball camp, weightlifting and team volleyball practices (in fact, she overdid it a bit on Friday and about passed out at the end of lifting- thank goodness she recovered quickly).  Wednesday afternoon Kylee had a couple hours of free time between camps so my niece came over to play for a bit- they had a blast.

Kase had been at camp while Brooklyn was here so my nephew hadn't come over to play but he and his nanny were still in town when Kase got home from camp so he got to join the fun for just a bit.

Wednesday night we got to go see my nephew play baseball! Kase had so much fun cheering him on. We stopped by the Jag game quick on our way home too.

Then we had a tiny pocket of time to give Kent his early Father's Day gift. Some Flintstone steaks and a big Yeti cooler filled with his favorite Powerades and Bang energy drinks!

Kylee made these awesome cards for him.

After basketball camp on Thursday, Kase had a few minutes to hang out with a friend who moved to Minnesota a couple months ago and was back in town.

Then, we picked him up and headed off for Okoboji!

The view from our place was amazing!

We unpacked and got all settled in then went mini golfing!

Pirate's Cove is always good for some fun photo opps!

Kael got a hole in one! And Kent had gotten one on the very first hole!

My mom and dad were on a road trip of their own and were in Okoboji too so they stopped by.  This grave says Peg Leg Pete.  My dad is always up for a funny photo!

We had dinner with my parents at a cute place on the water.  It was hot so we were thankful for the umbrellas and a little shade. Kylee wasn't feeling super great but was better once she got a cold drink and in the shade.

Back at our place the kids wanted to fish off the dock.

Kael was so proud that he was the one who found this place for us to stay!

Brother photo bomb.

We caught lots of fish! Kase started getting tired so he headed up to bed.

The rest of us played Perudo.

And enjoyed watching the sunset.

These two.  Peas in a pod.

Kylee was up early and ready to fish right away the next morning!

Kase quickly joined.

And Kael too! So fun.

Then we went to get our boat for the day!

It was so great being on the water!

We even got Kase to tube!

Then, our boat broke down! Oh no! Luckily we were right near our house so the kids swam to our dock.  I waited with Kent on the boat then we floated into a neighbors dock so I hopped off and walked home while Kent waited for a guy from the marina to come try to fix the boat then drop him off at home.

We made lunch at the house then Kylee and Kael tried out the paddleboards.

We got a new rental boat- a pontoon this time- and had so much fun cruising the lake looking at houses, stopping to swim every now and then, and people/boat watching.

That night we had dinner at the Barefoot Bar- a super lively, social place.

Then we stopped by Arnold's Park!

They loved the go karts.

Back to our place for popsicles on the patio.

And twilight fishing.

The sunset was so beautiful.

We were back to fishing right away the next morning!

Kylee was so sweet helping Kase.  She had caught tons of fish and Kase was jealous so she showed him a few tricks.

After breakfast at our place, we got our boat for the day and went tubing right away! It was such a highlight.

The weather was just perfect and the lake wasn't busy yet.  We had the best time.

We drove around a little then stopped for lunch at the Okoboji Store.  The lake was starting to get super busy so we loved watching all the boat traffic around the bridge.  Plus there was a basketball court at the restaurant that Kase had fun shooting around at.

While we were at lunch we got a call that we were supposed to be out of our VRBO!! We thought we had booked it through Saturday night but I guess not! We raced back to our place and packed up and headed home which turned out to be just fine. The lake was getting so rough, it was great to get home and unpacked so we didn't have to spend all Father's Day doing that, plus it was rainy Sunday morning so the kids wouldn't have gotten to do any early morning fishing. When we got done unpacking Saturday night we ordered in Mexican and watched Field of Dreams with the kids- I can't believe they hadn't seen it before!

Sunday morning we woke up to a lovely and much needed rain! Kylee surprised Kent with an awesome painting. We made a big breakfast once everyone was up then had a lazy morning watched some TV, played some family Wii games.  My parents stopped by, Kent and Kylee ran a couple errands, Kael went to the gym, Kase helped me bake a pie.  After lunch we all went to the Briarwood pool then came home to change quick for golf!

Fun that Kael can drive a cart this year!

We got a few holes in and everyone had some great shots! It started raining pretty hard so we decided to call it and head home.

Kase thought it was so awesome helping Kent drive the cart and driving through all the huge puddles.

We ended Father's Day with a fun steak dinner.  Kent had seen these Flintstone steaks at Hy-Vee awhile ago and had mentioned them to me so we grilled them up on Sunday night.

They turned out great!

We ate dinner, played outside for awhile then watched AGT together. A great family night!

Ready for a fun, busy week!
