Friday was off to a bit of a rough start. Everyone was frustrated with their online school work and mood were just off. Kylee had a checkup for her ankle and we got good news that it isn't fractured and she doesn't have any major restrictions- she can just gradually start putting weight on it as the pain lessens. The kids finished their work and then everyone felt better. Friday afternoon Kent and I had plans to finish up Christmas shopping for the kids and go out for dinner and it was so nice. The kids were so happy to go to grandma and grandpa's and Kent and I got a lot done and had a great night.
We woke up Saturday to a Winter Wonderland! Kase's basketball tournament was delayed so we got to spend a few hours walking in my dad's backyard before we headed to Newton.
Kent and I took Kase to his games and the roads weren't super great getting there but we made it and he played really great! His team played so well together that day.
Kase was pretty tired when we got home. We sat in the hot tub, watched the Hawkeyes and had a family movie night. It was lovely. Kael stayed over at his friends.
Sunday Kase slept in until 9:00! We couldn't believe it. Had a nice morning at home together once we picked Kael up. We all sat in the hot tub, made lunch and decorated our gingerbread house! Usually they each have their own small one to decorate but they worked together on one this year and I was so pleasantly surprised there was no arguing and minimal mess. They're sure growing up!
Later Kent took Kael, Kase and a buddy sledding at Cherry Glen and Froggy Park. Kylee had a friend over here. Later the boys all sat in the hot tub and another friend joined and they all went sledding again at Ashland Ridge. Kylee had volleyball practice. The boys finished up their evening with hot cocoa, popcorn and a Christmas movie. It was just the night they needed.
Heading into a busy week as I'm really hoping to finish up figuring out and wrapping all the Christmas gifts which is tricky to do when the kids are only in school two days this week! Doesn't leave me very much free time! Regardless, we are very much enjoying the season and love playing games together and I even had time to put a couple puzzles together this afternoon. Have a great week!
