It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas around here!
Friday afternoon and evening Kase spent at the Indoor Playground and the Jag/Hawk basketball game. Kael also went to the game. Kylee had a sleepover party but before we left we had time to mix up and roll out some sugar cookies! We had so much fun.
The kids also had some time to deliver some neighbor gifts. They love doing that!
While the kids were all busy, Kent and I had a quick date night and spent some time trying to finalize Christmas gifts.
Saturday we were pretty free which was so nice. Kylee was still at the sleepover so the boys and I watched some Christmas movies then later Kent took them to the gym. That afternoon and evening Kael had his Festival of Choirs concert. My parents went to the show in the afternoon and then Kent and I went in the evening. I was totally blown away! What a cool event and I'm so happy for Kael that he's involved in this! So memorable and I already can't wait for next year's concert.
I wish I could put into words what a special night it was. I was just so proud of Kael and all the songs- you just really felt the magic of the holidays after attending the concert.
Sunday was Kase's first wrestling tournament. He had been counting down the days and was SO excited.
My nephew Tyson was wrestling too so we had a huge group of fans cheering the boys on!
Another one of Kase's friends even came up to watch him!
Kase's first match was a close one! He ultimately won 13-12 but he had gotten bonked in the head right at the beginning and was pretty teary eyed the whole match. I was so proud of him that he stuck with it.
Even so, he did NOT want to wrestle a second match.
His coach and buddy tried talking him into it. Those of you who know Kase well know that he is not a kid who cries often. Or ever, almost.
He did go out there for a second match but got pinned. Things took a quick turn downhill here and he was so upset he just wanted to go home. His sweet friend tried comforting him and encouraging him.
But in the end, Kase did not want to go out for his third match. He just wanted to go home so badly. He got a trophy though and I think learned a lot throughout the day. It's not often that Kase loses a battle of physicality and it was good for him to face some challenges.
At the end of the day, the thing that I was most impressed by was the people who rallied to try to make him feel better. He had a veritable army there of family and friends who didn't want to see him give up but loved him just the same when he couldn't go on. We even had texts from friends later in the evening asking how he was doing- so worried they were about Kase as they have never seen him so sad/defeated. A big shoutout to those who spent their Sunday morning cheering my littlest buddy on!
After the tournament we rushed off in all different directions. Kael had the last in his series of concerts and Keith and Cindy got to go to this one. They loved it as much as the rest of us did! Kent took Kase to a birthday while I went to a cookie exchange party of my own. After a full, busy day, Kylee's evening volleyball practice felt more like midnight- ha!
It was a great weekend filled with family and friends and I can't wait to spend the next few weeks celebrating the holidays!
