Weekend Wrap-Up

We love the Edward Jones Summer Regional meeting weekend! Highlights this year included the Royals/Dodgers game, TopGolf and also an 80s cover band at the final night dinner.  This year was especially awesome since all five of us were able to be there! Kael was able to see a couple college friends who live in KC while he was there and Kylee took a few girls from the group to play pickleball.

The highlight reel did not include Kael hitting a deer on his way home!! SO, so thankful for everyone who stepped in to help.  Some good Samaritans who stopped by to check on him, Kent's parents who offered to go get him, Kael's girlfriend and family who did go get him and help get all of Kylee's belongings out of her car and also my parents who picked Kael up this morning and took him out for lunch too.  We had tons of messages from Edward Jones people checking in on him too.  Thankful for our village and so very thankful Kael is alright!!! He handled everything so well and I'm so thankful for his calm, capable personality.

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for Kent's service as Rotary President.  He put a lot of time in and I'm so very proud of him.

I'm thankful Kase and Huston had a fun time together making wiffle ball bats earlier this week! Love when cousins can hang out.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Busy weekend! Kase has been having fun watching the CWS with friends.

And he has been SUPER into fishing.  The other day he and I hit up a bunch of Ankeny ponds and of course he had luck at every one!

Kent and I snuck away for a rare date night at a new place in town.

Kase and some friends went to cheer on their teammate Benton playing a school ball game this week!

These two have been buddies forever!

Kael and Emma had a free weekend so they planned to spend it at the lake! I sent Kent up early with Kael and Kase- later Emma rode up north with me and I enjoyed chatting with her during the ride. Kael was certainly a lucky fisherman this weekend! I was so happy for him.

Sunset cruising! We had a fun night at the lake then Kael and Emma stayed on another night and I went home with Kent and Kase for baseball.  Kael, Emma and my parents had a fun time around Clear Lake shopping, fishing, cooking, playing games and just spending time together! Kael also got to play some guitars!!

Meanwhile Kylee was having a great time at camp.  She really came home happy and I'm just so glad for her.

So beautiful and peaceful there!

Kase's team had a solid weekend of baseball against some great competition.  Kase is still out with his broken foot and another player wasn't feeling well so we were thankful for a great sub and happy to get a couple wins!

Sunday afternoon we had a nice family get together at Keith and Cindy's. It felt like it had been awhile since we had seen everyone so it was great to catch up! The kids all had a blast on the slip and slide!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful to have received a few photos from Kylee and thankful she's having a good time!

I'm so thankful to have Kael at home this summer. It's so nice having him around and having someone who can help run errands, carry in groceries, grill up stuff for lunch for the boys...it's just so great having him here!

I'm thankful Kase's injury isn't slowing him down.  He's still summering hard with his friends!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Friday Kent took a group of boys up to the pond.  So thankful for this special place and also thankful for all the work my parents do to maintain it! Super thankful Kent loves being up there as much as he does because Kase was so happy to get to spend the day there with his friends. What a great group of boys.

Kent carries on the "dollar for first fish and dollar for biggest fish" tradition.

That night Kylee had a Bible study at the beach with her friends and Kael went out for dinner and to play pool with his friend and later Emma joined them.

Saturday we had a lazy morning (well- not Kylee who had a great 6.5 mile run!)  then Kael went to Pella to throw with his friend from the track team.  Later Kase's team went 2-0 including a walk-off from one of his very best friends!

That night we went out for dinner and ice cream to celebrate Father's Day.  Kylee left Sunday morning at 5:30 for a week long church camp so we were glad to get to celebrate Kent the night before and give him a couple gifts too.

Sunday we went for a long walk, Kael threw then worked.  Kase's team beat a tough Johnston team to earn their way to the championship! We came up short but so proud of this team!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful Kylee is having fun on her cross country retreat!

I'm thankful Kase is getting along ok with his boot and taking good care of his foot so it can heal properly.  He's also been working hard at doing baseball arm workouts so he can still continue to improve even as his foot heals! And I'm thankful for both grandmas who delivered Kase his favorite treats to keep his spirits up!

Happy Thursday!

Weekend Wrap-Up

The boys got home Friday night- they had a great fishing trip and were happy to get home too!

Kase had a tournament- his team went 0-3 so it was a tough weekend.  He hurt his foot playing basketball in the driveway with friends so he wasn't able to play Sunday.

We all went to Sean's grad party so that was fun.

Kase broke his foot over the weekend so that's gonna be a big bummer.  He's in a boot for 4-6 weeks.

Thankful Thursday

'm thankful my boys are having a great time in Canada!

I'm thankful for quality time with Kylee while they are away.  We shopped for senior picture clothes, had dinner out on a patio one night and spent some time planning an upcoming trip.

I'm thankful for the sweetest message from Kase letting me know he misses me and how happy he is up there and he hopes I can come some year. It was totally out of character for him to take the time to send such a long message and it meant the world to me!
