Weekend Wrap-Up

Kase had his Valentine's party on Friday- I can't believe we have come to the end of an era and it was the last Valentine box I would help my kids make! Kase took a popcorn bucket and I can't believe I forgot to take a picture of it- he was pretty proud. His teacher gave them all sunglasses- here is his class this year.

Friday night Kent and I celebrated Valentine's early. We went out for dinner and had a really nice time.  Kylee was at Winter Jam with her friends!

Kael had taken Kase out for dinner then dropped him off to watch Brooklyn play soccer then Kael headed to Waukee NW to watch the high school basketball game.  Kase had fun with his cousins and saw tons of friends he knew at the Sports Complex! My parents brought him back home and Kent and I were home shortly after that.

Saturday morning Kael and Kylee had Day of Love which is a big service day for their youth group.

Kase had a basketball tournament- his team went 1-2 and played only 6th grade teams so not too bad but wasn't our best day.

We had a pretty lazy night around here Saturday night. 

Sunday Kael worked, the rest of us went to church and Kylee volunteered in the nursery.  Later Kase had baseball camp and Kylee had volleyball camp and I spent the day getting ready to host some friends for the Super Bowl. Kael went to a friend's house to watch it and had a great time.  Kase had some of his buddies here and we had a fun night too!

Thankful Thursday

 I'm thankful Kylee is having success and feeling confident in her Spanish class at school.  She asked her teacher if she could work ahead in their packets and the response was, "Yes, please feel free to work ahead.  This class is too slow for you." 

I'm so thankful we pulled off a fun surprise for my dad! He and my mom were up at their condo in Clear Lake and my boys hadn't seen the place yet.  We happened to have a rare, free evening so we drove up after school to surprise my dad for his birthday (eve!) Everyone was so excited to see the condo and we enjoyed a nice dinner out then back to their place for cake. 

The waitress heard it was his birthday and put a candle in his steak! I had never seen that before- such a fun memory.

It was a great night celebrating my dad!!

Weekend Wrap-Up

 I love weekends!

Friday night we had dinner out with some friends before the Jag/Hawk basketball rivalry game! Girls lost and boys won in epic comeback fashion.  There was also a cake auction so it was just a super fun night all around.

Saturday morning Kylee had a race! So glad it wasn't too windy or way too cold.  She hasn't been running much lately because of volleyball but she was glad she went and had fun!

Then, fun surprise, a whole gang of us was able to go watch Brooklyn play volleyball! Love when it works out like this and the cousins have so much fun cheering each other on.

When Tam came to pick us up to go to the game, Berkley walked in and Kase said, "Berkley! Hi! How about a hug?" 

She played so great too!

Later that day Kase had basketball games and Mandy and Brooklyn made their way to Bondurant to watch him.  He was just so happy and he put on quite a show for them! He had his highest scoring game ever and was just in a bouncy, fun mood.  Brooklyn got some great videos that she shared with us of him too! After the game he told her, "You are my lucky charm!"

Another fun surprise- Kase's best buddy also came to watch! Love that they made the trip too! 

And then, Kael surprised us and showed up to watch the championship game after he got done working! Love this buddy!!! He was so proud to walk into the gym having not told any of us he was coming and Kase was so happy to see him and thrilled to get to ride home with his big brother in his truck after the game!

In the end, we lost a close one and Kase got in foul trouble a little too early.  One of our guys wasn't feeling great either so all things considered we had a pretty great day.  

Sunday Kylee volunteered at church nursery and later Kent and Kase went to watch two of Kase's best friends wrestle at Districts.  Kael went to Central for a track clinic all day! Then I met up with Kent and Kase at our nephew's game and we had fun cheering him on.

Kylee and her boyfriend hung out here and made Valentine cupcakes. Later they dipped chocolate covered strawberries. Cuties.

We grilled steaks and had a nice night hearing about Kael's day at Central. He seemed really excited about it and I think is definitely close to making his decision and if he had to choose today, he would pick Central.  Exciting things on the horizon for him!! 

Later had had a meeting with his mentor for The Walk at church.  Kent and Kase watched a movie- they are into Pirates of the Caribbean right now.

Thankful Thursday

 I'm thankful for a totally random trip to the mall Tuesday night.  The kids and I were all home with no plans and we were talking about our upcoming trip and who needed new clothes, shoes, etc.  We decided to just go shopping right then and there! Also we made a quick stop at the Guitar Center because Kael needed some string and the boys had the BEST time playing drums while we were there!

I'm thankful it's February.  Vacation month!

Weekend Wrap-Up

 Another whirlwhind weekend around here!

Friday Kylee and I left for Minneapolis as soon as the boys were off to school.  We got stopped on the interstate- there was a bad accident ahead of us- so we were thankful we had left in plenty of time! We did still have time for a super quick pit stop at my parents' condo in Clear Lake- Kylee was so excited to see about it and loved the place so much!

We made it to the facility in time.  Parking was crazy all weekend so I was so thankful Kylee helped me navigate the city! 

The team went 6-0 the first two days! We had a couple girls missing so several people got to play different positions and Kylee got to play back row the first day.  She did great and got all her serves in!

A big highlight for Kylee was getting to hold baby Olive! My best friend lives in Minneapolis and brought her daughter to come watch a couple games.

In the end we lost in the semi-finals to the team that was eventual champions. The girls played well but would have loved to make it one more game! Kylee had a cold so honestly she was a trooper all weekend hanging in there.  Since we had afternoon wave, she and I enjoyed lazy mornings at the hotel and finding coffee shops and restaurants nearby.

Meanwhile back home the boys kept busy too! Kael had Scholarship Days at Central and I was so happy to talk to him after.  He sounded really excited about Central and all the people he met and everything. So proud of this guy and anxious to see where the next chapter in his life will be!

These boys had a basketball tournament and sounds like they played hard and had great competition all day.

Kase and his buddy had a sleepover and Kent even made donuts for them!

Sunday these concert going buddies took off for Omaha! 

Kent just loves doing this with Kael.  They always find a cool spot to eat and just enjoy each other's company and the music.  This time they saw New Found Glory- these were the tickets Kael had given Kent for Christmas.  So cool!

We got home at a good time Sunday so it was nice to get all unpacked and ready for the week.  Kase was at a buddy's house with a big boy gang watching playoff football and Kylee's boyfriend came over to hand out for awhile. Kent and Kael got home suuuuper late but had a great time.  Have a good week, all! 

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful that Kase likes to call my mom and give her trumpet concerts.  It's about the only time he practices!

I'm thankful for Kael.  He got home from the gym the other night around 10PM and I heard him down in the kitchen and I realized he was doing the dishes! He had gotten home and seen that a cycle was done on the dishwasher so he put them all away for me late at night.  Love that buddy. 

I'm thankful Kent and Kael had a free night to go to the guitar store.  Kael's looking to add to his collection and they had a fun night together!

I'm thankful for Garrett.  He makes Kylee so happy.

Weekend Wrap-Up

 Friday night Kase had a birthday party for a couple of his best friends.  Just look at this Crew! They had fun at Urban Air.

Kylee hung out with her boyfriend, Kent and Kael got dinner at Wig and Pen then Kael hung out with his friend.

Saturday we got to see Kellen play basketball then went to celebrate the January birthdays at Keith and Cindy's. 

That night Kent and I had a Rotary event. Fun getting dressed up and spending the evening with my favorite guy!

The next morning Kent and Kylee headed off to volleyball and Kase wanted me to hang out with him and watch him play FortNite.  I happily obliged.

I took no pictures of volleyball but Kylee had a great day! They went undefeated in pool play but lost a close one to a team they really wanted to beat.  Was really proud of Kylee for keeping a great attitude and playing hard all day.  Shoutout to all the grandparents and her boyfriend who came to watch! The boys and I went to late church then I had a meeting at church with Kael and later Kase and I made it down to watch the last volleyball match.  We came home, ordered Mexican and had a great night watching playoff football.
