Right now

I'm reading (again) French Kids Eat Everything.  I know far more than any suburban housewife should about the French eating habits.  That is, I've read several books on the topic and every time I read one I get inspired to change our way of eating and every time my motivation lasts about five minutes.  Ahh someday.

I'm contemplating chopping my hair.  The length is starting to get to me.

I'm wishing for a new wardrobe.  Guess I'll stick to jeans and hooded sweatshirts for awhile.

I'm feeling crazy proud of Kylee.  She's recently started gymnastics and she LOVES it.  Like, love loves it.  This week she was the only one in her class that the teacher allowed to try climbing to the top of the rope and Kylee nailed it! How fun is it watching your child be successful at something they love so much?!  Her face just lit up and she gave me the biggest smile through the window at the gym.
Sky- high Ky!

I'm also feeling lucky that we didn't lose power or have any major storm damage from yesterday.

I'm looking forward to dinner out with my in-laws tonight.  Is there any better start to the weekend than a trip to El Azteca? I think not.

I'm mildly concerned about how long Kase has been asleep.  Evidently he's loving naptime today.

I'm needing to step away from the computer and go do some dishes from the puppy chow, caramel apple dip, and Spanish tortilla I just made.  Without fail, if Kase asleep, I'm cooking.

I'm curious about when to "harvest" our pumpkins. Five of them have turned orange, one is still green, and the vines continue to grow and bud every day.  Does anyone know anything about this? Basically I'm just looking for the green light to go ahead and pluck them from the south side of our house and set them on our front porch.

I'm waving at Kylee at recess.  This will never get old to me.

I'm pleasantly surprised the the lovely aroma from my Pumpkin Spice candle that cost me all of $3.50 at Wal-Mart.  And it's a big candle! Kase loves for me to light it and loves even more to "help" me blow it out.

What are you up to right now?

Right now I'm...

...working on Kylee's kindergarten registration papers.  Girl is sooo ready!

...looking forward to a Mexican-themed night in with the neighbs.

...PSYCHED about the nearly 60 degree temps we're going to have this afternoon. Spring fever.

...loving that my mom dropped of some tubs of my old school papers.  It is so fun to look back through things I did when I was little.  Makes me wonder if I'm saving enough of Kael, Kylee and Kase's things? The ten tubs I have marked "Kids Keepsakes" in the basement lead me to believe I've held on to plenty of memories.  Now if I could just get them as nice and neatly organized as my mom has mine.

...overusing the word "totally". A friend and I took Kylee and  her daughter shopping yesterday, bought them BFF shirts and let them try on nearly every pair of shoes in Children's Place.  Ky and her friend Kaelyn kept saying things like, "These are like totally so cool."  Then the other would respond, "Like, totally." This exact conversation happened no less than twenty times and now I can't stop saying, "Totally" to anything anyone asks me.

...really really hopeful that Kent can make time this weekend to build  me some little shelves for a gallery wall of pictures. Now that we have at least a few things on the walls, I'm dying to just finish the job and get the whole house decorated.

...hearing some adorable little baby squeaks coming from upstairs.  My cue to wrap it up and go snuggle a baby.  :)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Right now

The kids just finished playing in the backyard with friends: water balloons, slip and slide, water guns and icees. Now they're having some downtime watching TV.

I'm going to sit down and enjoy this:

Does it get much better than a glass of ice tea and a good book in the summer? I think not.

By the way, have you read this book? I realize I've written so much about The Happiness Project that perhaps you think it's the only book I've read. :) I really love to read, espcecially books that I can learn something from (and more importantly apply it to my life): a new parenting technique, some new recipes, some new tips for working with Kael, things like that.

How To Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk is brilliant. So many fantastic no-brainer parenting tips. I kind of can't believe that I haven't read this book before (I think it was first published in 1980). If nothing else, it inspired me to mix things up a little in dealing with the kids.

What good book have you read lately?

Right now

What I'm eating: a Twix from Kael's Valentine candy stash. The chocolate candies aren't his favorites. Lucky for me. :)

What I'm listening to: a little something called "Mosty Spanish and Nadas" that my sister burned for me approximately seven years ago. It is amazing. A little bit of Enrique in "No Apagues La Luz" followed immediately by "Dancing Lucinda". As far as I'm concerned it doesn't get much better than that. Memories of college, studying abroad, and fun times with my sister are flooding back.

Where I'm going: meeting up with my favorite little man for a lunch date today. As far as Kael is concerned, it doesn't get much better than chicken noodle soup day at school. Can't wait to join him.
