Thankful Thursday

 I'm thankful for a fun birthday lunch for my dad! And thankful he got his lemon cake!

I'm thankful for moments with Kael.  He and I ended up home alone together the other night and he asked if I wanted to play darts in the garage with him.  Love spending time with that buddy.

I'm thankful for Kase's funny comments.  You just never know what that kid is thinking.  The other day he said to me, "Mom, I love to laugh so much.  Laughing is great." He also heard the song "Payphone" the other day and asked me what a payphone was.  So I had a fun time trying to explain that and also feeling a million years old.

I'm thankful for a friend who gifted us some tickets she couldn't use for a concert this weekend.  

I'm thankful for lots of fun plans this week.  We had a great time catching up with friends we hadn't seen in waaaayy too long last night.

Weekend Wrap-Up

We had a great weekend and I have almost no photos to show for it- hate when that happens! Maybe that means I was just enjoying the moments too much to remember to take pictures?

Anyhow, Friday night Kent, Kael, Keith, Kevin and Kyle went to dinner at B and B then to the new Jackass movie.  Totally up their alley as far as humor goes and Kael was happy to be included with the bros. Kylee had plans to hang out with a friend so I offered to take Kase anywhere he wanted for dinner and in a surprise move (not) he picked Pizza Ranch.  Kylee and her friend ended up joining us and we had a fun night.  

The next day Kylee had a volleyball tournament and Kase had a basketball tournament and Kael worked.  Kylee's team did well but lost in the semi-finals and her knees were really bothering her.  Thankfully my dad dropped off his icing machine afterwards and it really helped.  Kase's team didn't have much competition and they came away with the gold medal!  

Sunday morning we had a baby shower for my sister-in-law Julia here at our house.  I SO appreciated everyone's help in getting ready for this! My mom picked up my bakery and food order, Kael helped load gifts, Kent helped clean and do all the last minute things and Kylee helped set up all the food.  I'm lucky to have such great help and we had the nicest time celebrating Julia! 

That afternoon Kent and Kase had baseball camp and practice and Kylee hung out with Garrett. Later Kylee had volleyball practice and the rest of us had a lazy night here.

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful this buddy is finally starting to pick up a bit. It's been a long week for him with a yucky cough.  Ready for him to feel 100% better.

I'm thankful Kase's buddy's mom is doing well after a couple procedures she had this week.  It meant Kase got to hang with Jett a little more than usual which was fun for them both!

I'm thankful for texts from Kael during the day about his lifting progress.  He loves sharing his new PRs and I'm always happy to hear about it.  Proud of the hard work he's putting in.

Weekend Wrap-Up

 This weekend wasn't my favorite.  

Long story short, most of us are sick.  Kase's team lost a couple basketball games they really would have liked to win. He played great even though he was coughing terribly the entire game.  He had to leave a friend's birthday party early because he wasn't feeling well and he is still kinda miserable.  

Bright side? Kael had fun at the track and field camp today.  Kylee got in on the Crumbl Craze (new cookie place in Ankeny) and got to hang out with one of her besties she hasn't seen for awhile because of conflicting volleyball schedules. 

Also Kase went to school just long enough on Friday to receive his Main Event award. 

That's all for today friends.  Hoping next week is healthier for my gang.

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for a sweet message from Kylee's volleyball teammate's mom saying what a great addition to the team and what a great player she is.  People are so thoughtful to take time to send messages like that.

I'm thankful for Kylee's volleyball coaches this year.  They are just so great and even check in making sure she is getting proper rest and recovery after big tournaments.

I'm thankful this week is almost over.  None of us have been feeling super great all week so I'm ready to turn the page to next week.  January is long and cold. Seriously the freezing cold temps that make it too cold for the kids to even go outside are tough.  Kase has had more than enough of indoor recess.

Weekend Wrap-Up

 Fun winter weekend!

Friday night was ACBC night at the Jag basketball game.  Kase and his buddies all went up, wore their ACBC shirts and got in free.  

The game got pretty intense and these boys were cheering wildly! The Jag student section waved Kase and his buddies over to join them because they had some serious energy.  Kael seemed proud to have his brother over there with him and made his way to the front to stand right by Kase.  I love it.

Jags ended up winning in double overtime! I have so many great videos and memories of my boys cheering together front and center of the student section.  Love it.

Meanwhile, Kent and Kylee were in Davenport for volleyball.  They left Friday after school and had a nice dinner out together.  Kent really enjoyed spending time with Kylee- he gets so much time with the boys with all their similar interests that it was really nice for him to get to hang out with Kylee.  He loves seeing her so happy at Plex!

Kase had a tournament Saturday in Garwin.  Competition wasn't too tough but regardless, Kase was on fire.  I had several messages from friends during the game commenting on how well he was doing and he seemed totally in the zone.  

They ended up tournament champs! Kylee's team got first in their pool and went on to lose in semifinals to the team that won it all.  A good tournament for them though too!

Kael spent the day going to the gym, hanging out with my mom and dad for a bit, then going to work. Later Kase went to a sleepover birthday party for his best buddy.

The next morning we went to Keith and Cindy's to celebrate the December/January birthdays! Always good to see everyone and the kids had fun opening their gifts and we enjoyed just catching up. Later we were able to make it to Kellen's basketball game- so cute!

Kael had stopped by the birthday party celebrating just long enough to eat and say hi then he went to work all day.  Garrett came over to hang out with Kylee in the afternoon and Kent and I went to an open house.  Later Kent and Kase had baseball then we had our Crew-mas (belated Christmas celebration)! The boys had so much fun swimming.  We had pizza and cookies and really enjoyed hanging out with our Crew families.  Kael even joined us for awhile- the boys love having him around!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful that Kent has been getting along well working at home this week.  They started his office remodel and I'm super excited for him about it!

I'm thankful for a warm house.  It's cooooold out there, guys.
