Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful I caught this sweet moment on camera.  My cousin and her twin girls and my aunt were at my mom's house the other day and Kase was intrigued with the babies.  He loved reading to them!

I'm thankful Kase slept until 7:15 yesterday.  I could get used to that over his typical 5:00 wake up time.

I'm thankful everyone seems to be feeling MUCH better around here.

I'm thankful the weather has been nice enough for me to run outside.

I'm thankful for our village.  Every.single.day.  Maybe it's a text from a neighbor about carpool, maybe it's my parents stopping by to watch the kids so Kent and I can go to a conference call about our upcoming vacation...it seems like something comes up daily and I feel so thankful for all my people.

I'm thankful the weekend is near.  We have a few fun plans but won't be super busy. Short and sweet today.  It's been a busy week and I'm looking forward to the weekend! Do you have big Superbowl plans?

Weekend Wrap-Up

Hi all! We had a nice weekend around here.  Kase and I have been spending TONS of time building with Legos. I keep telling him I'm going to need our kitchen table back at some point but in the meantime he's having a lot of fun.

The fort building also continues.

Thursday was Dad's Day at preschool.  This is always a neat event- the kids make ties and answer special questions about their dads, then they get to spend time together doing an activity.  This year they made paper airplanes and had a blast!

We finally had some snow around here so the kids were excited to go out and play!

Kase has been dying to visit Huston to play Nerf guns- he's been asking me for weeks now if we can go to his house, so finally this week it worked out!

Thursday night I had book club with friends and Kent sent me this photo while I was gone.  Love seeing them have fun!

Friday night we went to Sleepy Hollow to do some snow tubing! We've been wanting to go for a long time, but the age minimum is four years old, so this was the first year the kids could all go.  We had so much fun! The tubing was great and the zipfy sleds were fun too.  A great time had by all, no doubt!

Saturday morning we had basketball.  Big shoutout to our village who always come support the kids! Grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles and cousins- we seem to always have the largest cheering section! Kent's assistant coach for Kase's team was out of town so he had Kylee and Kael help.  They did an awesome job corralling the kids on the sideline and helping with drills! Also, how grown up does Kael look in this pictures?! Such a middle schooler.

Kael and Kylee both had games too.  Grandpa helped entertain Kase by reading some super hero books.

Kael's last game of the season! Nice job, Ducks!! It was a fun game to watch because evidently one of Kael's teammates dad had promised his son they could get a dog if he scored five baskets and sure enough, the kid scored five baskets! The whole crowd went wild when he sunk that last one! Ha!

Saturday night Kylee had a sleepover with a friend.  Kent, Kael, Kase and I made pizza here then they watched some movie that they knew neither Kylee or I would like.  A total boys' night and they loved it.

Sunday after church we went to Collins for Sunday dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's.  It was great to see everyone.  Then I had training for the Night to Shine event coming up at our church.  While I was gone, Kent and the kids got a ton of stuff done for me around here (laundry, groceries and even some cleaning!)

We spent the rest of the afternoon and evening at my parents' house.  Kent took the kids for a long walk out back, later we ordered pizza and my sister and her family came over too.  The kids had fun playing together and it was a lovely end to our weekend.

Looking forward to a great week ahead!

Thankful Thursday

I'm so thankful for Kylee.  I got like seven inches cut off my hair the other day and she was the ONLY one in our house who noticed.  What would I do without that girl?

I'm really thankful for time spent with family.  We had a lot of fun with the Pattersons last weekend and I so appreciate Cindy always bringing over most of the food for our get togethers!

I'm thankful for plans with friends tonight.

I'm thankful for a little snow.  It's been gloomy and cold here lately and the snow made it a little prettier!

I'm thankful that we leave for vacation in 47 days. (But who's counting?!)

I'm thankful that I got to see my sisters last night.  They're just the best.

I'm thankful for when the kids get along really well.  They've been having so much fun building forts together lately.  Our house is a total mess and it doesn't bother me at all!

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Wrap-Up

We It was a long, LONG week around here so we were sure ready for the weekend.  Kael was home sick all week from school, so we spent a lot of time making forts for Nerf gun fights.  Kase was pretty proud of this one.

For Christmas, I had bought Kent tickets to Hawkeye wrestling.  I wasn't sure we would be able to go with Kael not feeling well but by Friday night he was doing a little better.  The kids stayed over at my parents' house so Kent and I headed to Iowa City! It was a fun night.

The kids had fun at Grandma and Grandpa's.

Saturday we had basketball games.  Kent's family all came to watch the kids play and also have lunch with us.  The kids were so proud to have such big cheering sections at their games! I am just loving these next few pictures...

Kylee adores King and I think the feeling is mutual! She played with him alllll afternoon.

We were happy to get Kael outside for a little while- poor guy, it's just been such a long week for him.  He was able to talk his uncles into a game of KanJam- a fun frisbee game he'd gotten for Christmas.

Four year old basketball is just hilarious.  Kase was dancing all up and down the court, falling down on purpose no fewer than twenty times...it was just great to watch.

We had a lazy Saturday night around here.  Sunday morning after church we just hung around home, getting a few things done. Later I took Kylee and a friend to Bulldog Ceramics to paint canvases while the boys went to my parents' house for a long walk.  Later, Kylee and I joined them and we also watched the Packers game. Kent just LOVES being outside and it was good for the kids to get out too!

We had a lazy Sunday night around here and are ready for a great week!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful that our pool passes are purchased for this summer! I'm counting the days already until we can hit the pool!

I'm thankful for brownie delivery.  Kylee has been bummed about a friend situation at school recently and the other day my parents stopped by with brownies.  Totally cheered her up!

I'm thankful that everyone is on the mend at our house.  Kael had a bad ear infection and swimmer's ear earlier in the week and Kase had a huge goose egg on his head from running into a door.  It was a rough start to the week but everyone's doing a little better now.

Big picture, we have so much to be thankful for.  January's got us a little down around here but we have a lot of fun things ahead to look forward to, and lots to be thankful for.  How's your January going?

Weekend Wrap-Up

We were so ready for a long weekend.

Friday Kent had his ribbon cutting at his office to celebrate joining the Ankeny Chamber of Commerce.  It was a really nice event and a wonderful group of people.  So proud of him!

Friday night Kylee had a sleepover at a friend's house and Kael had a friend spend the night here.  Kent, Kase and I had a movie night.

Saturday morning the kids all had basketball games.  They did great and it's always so fun to watch them play.  Saturday afternoon Kylee went to the Home Show with my parents.

Saturday evening Kent's parents came to stay with the kids while we had our Edward Jones holiday party.  It's always nice to see everyone and we appreciated Keith and Cindy hanging with the kids!

Sunday morning was a lazy one around here.  Then after church we went Glow Golfing! The kids also had fun doing a laser maze.

Sunday afternoon I went on a walk with a friend while the kids entertained Kent here at home. Ha!

With an ice storm looming, we decided to head over to my parents' house for a walk outside knowing we would soon be stuck inside! They all had a great walk out back and had fun sliding on the ice.

We made it home before it started to get icy and spent a nice evening hanging out together at home.

Monday there was no school which was lucky since it was so slick out anyways! We spent most of the day hanging around.  Kent and I did venture out to go to the gym and he eventually went into the office for a bit.  Kylee spent the day playing with a friend at our house, then at her friend's house.  We also spent some time researching things for our upcoming vacation! I can't wait until spring break.

We also set up the jumpy house, played a lot of Nerf guns and a little bit of Wii. It was a really  nice day.

How was your day off?

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful that photo books are completed and ordered for 2016.  Done and done.

I'm thankful for mid-week adventures with my littlest buddy.  I'm already getting a little sad that he will be in kindergarten next year.  Who am I gonna hang out with all day?!

I'm thankful that I had time for some meal prep on Sunday afternoon.  Kent's been trying to eat healthier and I found some new recipes to try.  I so enjoy cooking.

I'm thankful for a fun weekend ahead.  We have a few things on the docket but shouldn't be super busy which is just how I like things.

Happy Thursday, all!
