Weekend Wrap-Up

Kent sent me these beautiful flowers while he was away because he loves me and he wanted to make sure we were getting along ok without him and he knew they would brighten my day.  He's the best.

Saturday morning after Kylee's long run she volunteered with her cross country team at Miracle League and had the best time.  Love that they do this.

Then we all headed for Pella to watch the game and visit Kael!

Kase rode his scooter around and spotted Kael right away in the student section! We had a great spot on the hill.

The game had a brief lightning delay and while we waited it out, Kael asked Kase, "Hey do you want to play football with me and my friends?" The look on Kase's face was priceless- his eyes got big and he said, "Really?!" He was so happy to be included and it was fun to see Kael with his friends!

Meanwhile we explored campus.

It's so pretty at Central!

You know your kid is in the right place when other moms from your "college care pack" group spot him at the game and send you a picture!

Obligatory bakery stop.  Happy Kase.

We all headed back to the game and then Kylee and Garrett had to take off just a little bit before it ended because she had to get back for a Homecoming thing.  She drove home without either me or Kent with her- Garrett was with her and helped with directions but I'm so proud she did it!

After the game, Kent, Kase and I took Kael out for Mexican and then ice cream and had fun driving around town just spending time with Kael.  I'm just so happy knowing he is in the right place for him and he seems so happy! Love this kid.

We had a nice night at home- Kent and I went for a long walk, Kylee hung out with her friends and Kase played with his best buddy.

Sunday after church we harvested the rest of our apples then Kent mowed, Kylee and I ran a couple errands then her friends came over before On The Prowl!

Such an awesome group of girls and they were so sweet and thanked me so many times for hosting them and driving them all up their in Kent's truck!

Hilarious that Tammy and I took almost the exact same picture with Kylee (separetely without knowing!)

Kylee's group had a ton of fun and I loved watching the Blue Bunnies!

Garrett found Kylee and egged her during one of the games- she was a good sport about it! Pretty funny!

Meanwhile Kase was at a game.  He played well even though his team lost.  I got a sweet message from a friend who doesn't even have a kid on our team praising Kase's amazing arm.

We had a nice night at home- Kent and I took a walk, Kylee grabbed dinner with her friends after OTP and Kase played with his best friend all night.  Ready for another fun, fall week ahead!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for a Jag win on Tuesday night at Valley! Also thankful for all the fam that came out to watch her and thankful for a beautiful night!

I'm thankful for a great coach and great cross country friends!

I'm thankful that my parents let us borrow this trike.  We had one exactly like it that we gave away less than a week ago.  Kase hadn't ridden it forever then a couple days ago he came home from school and wanted to ride it.  Ha- isn't that the way it goes?! Lucky my parents had one and said he could use it.

I'm thankful for a fun and creative way for Kylee to get asked to Homecoming! Her boyfriend surprised her on Tuesday night after the cross country meet with flowers and a sign that said, "Will you be my other 'peace' for Homecoming?" (She loves that Peace tea drink and he had brought over several of those too- so cute!).  Kylee was really happy and of course said yes!

Thankful for beautiful weather. Fall is just the best!

I'm thankful Kent made his connecting flight to Philadelphia yesterday.  His flight was delayed in Des Moines and he had to sprint through the airport but he made it! I'm also thankful he allows himself splurges like buying a seat in the tenth row right behind home plate- how fun!!!

I'm thankful Kase had so much fun at the skate park the other day.  Our afternoon was a total whirlwind with him getting home later than usual for school, having football pictures and Junkyard but we squeezed in a quick stop at the skate park.  He's been so excited to take the trike there and it was as much fun as he hoped!

Happy Thursday!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Kylee had a meet in Cedar Rapids on Thursday.  Kent and I were both able to go (thanks, Cindy for hanging with Kase and getting him to practice!) and Kylee had a GREAT race! She cut 40 seconds off her time from last week and she got second in her race- wow!!!

Just love seeing her finish happy and strong.

She was up and around right after her race, congratulating friends and cheering them on. So happy for her.

Friday was Kent's birthday! He took off work early and he and I grabbed lunch at a new place downtown.  Super fun start to the weekend.  Later Kase went to the football game with friends, Kylee went too and Kent and I golfed with our friends. It was such a fun group!

Saturday morning Kylee had an early long run. Then we all waited in the driveway for Kael to get home and gave him a big Welcome Home greeting!

Then Keith and Cindy drove Kylee to Ames to meet up with Garrett and his family to tailgate and go to the game.  We had a tailgate party at our house- such a fun day!

Sunday we celebrated Kent's birthday (finally!) He opened gifts then we went to lunch and ice cream with his parents before Kael headed back to school.  It was a great lunch at a new, fun spot and so great to see Kael for the weekend!

My guys.

Kase had his first tackle football game- he was really nervous but in the end I think he was really happy with how it went!

After that we went to my parents' to celebrate my nephew's and Kents birthdays.  Always great to see family. My parents always make it so fun and special for the birthday kids (and adults!)

It was just such a lovely weekend.  Looking forward to a fun week ahead!

Thankful Thursday

I'm so thankful I got to go to Pella to have lunch with Kael on Tuesday! It was great to see him and so wonderful hearing how happy he is and how confident he is in his decision to go to Central.

I'm thankful for how much Kylee loves Junkyard.  Just look how happy she is in this picture!

I'm thankful Kylee's boyfriend has started to going to Junkyard and church with her.  Love it.

I'm thankful for Kent who is committed to developing Kase's athletic skills and willing to put the time in with him to get some extra work.  These boys are getting better and better because of it.

I'm thankful for a fun, busy weekend ahead!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Kase and I have been doing a ton of rollerblading! He always wants to go right before bed and as soon as he wakes up.  Night rollerblades are our favorite.

Friday afternoon Kase and his friends stopped for fro-yo on the way home from school.  I think they love having some independence! He played with friends for awhile then later went on a bike ride to a park and had dinner at a friend's house.  Kent took Kylee to Ames and they had a fun dinner together then went to the Jags game.

Saturday Kent and Kase tailgated and went to the ISU/UNI game with friends. They had a blast!

Kylee had a long run then I took her for lunch and shopping in the District.  Fun girls day.  We also stopped to get her Homecoming dress altered and grabbed afternoon coffees at Smokey Row.  Love spending time with her. Later we went to Target to browse and when the boys got home we ordered pizza and had a nice night at home.  Picked a bunch more apples, Garrett came over and the kids played some KanJam and then Kent and Kase had an early night watching a movie.

Sunday Kent, Kase and I went to early service and Kylee and her boyfriend went to second service then lunch.  Kase fished with a friend and Kent worked in the garage putting up new shelves.  Later I took Kase and a friend to the pool. Then Kylee took the boys to Urban Air and she went to a bible study and picnic with one of her best friends at Saylorville.

Monday we got some more things done around home- Kylee helped me sort through old tubs and pick things to donate and we had fun reliving some old memories.  Kent taught Kase to mow then Kase went to a friend's house to swim.  Kylee and I went to her boyfriend's football game then she had cross country.

It was a great, productive weekend! We heard from Kael a few times and it sounded like he was having a blast participating in all the campus activities like a scavenger hunt, water balloon fight and Capture the Flag.  I'm so happy for him!
