Weekend Wrap-Up

We were ready for another long weekend around here!

There was no school Friday so Kase made the most of Thursday night going to the Iowa Women's basketball game with Grandpa Keith, Grandma Cindy, and his friend Jett!

The boys had a great time and the Hawkeyes won! Since it was pretty late when the boys got back in town, they got to have a sleepover at Grandma Cindy and Grandpa Keith's house.

Thursday night Kent and his brother took Grandpa Bill to the Veterans Dinner in Collins.  I'm so glad they took the time to do this- Grandpa really enjoyed the night.

Meanwhile, Kylee and I were supporting our favorite local business- Secret Soaps! My niece Brooklyn was at a vendor fair in Polk City so Kylee and I had fun doing a little shopping and visiting her.

The next morning Kase and his friend came back to our house, I had time to grab coffee with my sister which never happens so it was really nice that it worked out. Kylee and Grandma Cindy got pedicures together and had such a nice time.

Midmorning, Kent and Kael took off to visit Iowa! Kael has already been accepted there and they enjoyed touring campus.  He looks pretty good there!!

Kylee had plans to hang out with her boyfriend and none of Kase's friends were really around so he and I just hung out all day.  Imagine my surprise when he wanted to get out all our arts and craft stuff and spend some time drawing.

Later we all went to Target to get some Christmas ideas.  Kase mostly didn't find anything he wanted besides these pink Starbursts.

We got home, put a Christmas  movie on and played some games.  I clocked a lot of one on one time with my littlest buddy this weekend.

Later Kylee and Garrett made some Christmas cookies and joined Kase and I watching the movie for a bit.

That night Kent and Kael went to a concert- I love that those two have each other for things like that.  Kael says it was one of the top 3 concerts he had ever been to!

Saturday morning Kylee was up early to meet up with her Cross Country friends to go to Sioux Falls South Dakota for the Nike meet! Brrrrr!!!

I went to Pella with Kase for his basketball tournament and got to see one of my favorite people!! Love my Aunt Connie. So sweet of her to make time to come watch Kase.

The boys won the tournament and got some pretty cool trophies for it!

Kase and I of course stopped at the bakery and also grabbed a late lunch at Smokey Row.

Meanwhile, Kent and Kael and Keith and Cindy were at the Iowa game! It was chilly but the Hawkeyes won and they all had a great time!

Kase and I got home from Pella, watched the end of the Hawkeye game then turned on another Christmas movie. This buddy was exhausted and was cozied up by the fireplace the entire night.

Sunday morning after church we just got a few things done around the house.  Kael was at work. Kase played with friends and Kylee had her race.  I was so happy to hear from her afterwards that she met her goal and she ran with a smile on her face.  What a great weekend for her.

Later Kase went to a friend's birthday party- they did a game truck- such a cool idea!

Kael went to the gym then the boys and I had a fun night playing cards and watching football while we waited for Kylee to get home.

Have a great week!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for a fun night bowling with Rotary on Tuesday night.

I'm thankful for Grandma's cookies to fill our cookie jar! She just makes the best cookies.

I'm thankful for Kylee's maturity.  There is a mean girl just bothering her at school and Kylee is handling it so well.  Any additional prayers for Kylee in this area would be appreciated.

I'm thankful for Kael playing his guitar.  Now that he doesn't have football he has a lot more time to play his guitar and I LOVE hearing it.  He's getting really good!

Have a great day!

Weekend Wrap-Up

We enjoyed a lazy, rainy start to our weekend.  Friday Kase had a birthday party in Des Moines so Kent and Kael dropped him off then went out for dinner and found a spot to play pool.

Meanwhile, I took Kylee and a few friends to Target to shop to fill the Operation Christmas boxes for church.  These girls were in the holiday spirit with their festive pajama pants and holiday drinks from Starbucks.

We came back to our house to pack boxes, make Christmas cookies and listen to Christmas music.  It was just the night Kylee needed.

Saturday morning Kael left for an overnight youth group retreat and the rest of us had a lazy morning here.  Later Kase had a basketball tournament and Kent took Kylee and her boyfriend to the Iowa State football game. They had the best time! The rain cleared off just in time and they got to go in the Jack Trice Club area which made the experience even more fun.

Meanwhile Kase and his buddies were having a great tournament!

Oh, Kase.  This kid brings such a fun energy to the game.

One of his other buddies came to watch them play.

Champs!

Kase and I got dinner with friends after then came home and watched the World Series with Kent.  Kylee hung out with Garrett.

Sunday after church Kylee and I got to work on Christmas decorating! She wanted to help do it and she's so busy with not much free time so today was the best day we could do it together even though it's much earlier than I usually put my tree up.  We got Starbucks holiday drinks then spent the whole afternoon making the house festive! Kent was a huge help doing all the heavy lifting and Kase was playing with friends- it was such a nice day out.  Kael had gotten home from his retreat and had a great time then he took off shortly after he got home for work!

Later Kylee's boyfriend came over. It was so nice out so I took them for a walk in my parents backyard. So fun! I think Kylee and Garrett had a great time.

Meanwhile Kase and his friends had a fierce pickleball competition. Love it!

Later that night we ordered pizza and played board games.  Nothing like diving right into our regular winter activities on the first night of Daylight Savings! What a great weekend.  Love my people.

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for a fun trip to the State Volleyball Tournament on Monday!

Beach Out theme!

Jags won!

I'm thankful for enough leaves in our backyard this year to make a pile to jump in.  Kase and his friends had fun blowing and raking the leaves and playing in them after school earlier this week.

I'm thankful we finally just bit the bullet and paid for someone else to put up our Christmas lights this year.  It was more expensive than I would care to admit but Kent got tired of all of us offering very helpful suggestions on how he could have done it better- ha.

Have a great weekend, all!
