Weekend Wrap-Up

What a fun weekend!

Friday, winter came back.  It was cold and snowy- we were happy to have a fun neighbor birthday party to go to at SkyZone! The kids had a blast.  We were also happy to make it home safe as the roads really weren't that great.

Saturday morning I spent some time organizing for our trip, then Kylee had her last basketball game of the season.  She just had so much fun and hustled out there every single game.

Saturday evening was our annual Preschool Chili Cook-Off! The kids all had so much fun and I was so proud of them- they were so well behaved and helpful.  It's a great event with some awesome chili's and some cool silent auction items!

Later that evening Kylee got a really bad bloody nose- we just couldn't get it to stop.  Poor thing. Kent had been out with the neighbor guys to celebrate the end of their fantasy football season but he came home to help me out with Kylee.  A few hours later, Kael woke up not feeling well.  He's stuffy and has a headache- I'm so hoping this all passes before we leave in a couple weeks!

Sunday we had a lazy morning here.  The kids just relaxed; Kent and I went for a walk. Later I did a few errands, then we went out for dinner with my sisters and their husbands while the kids played at my dad and mom's. Then back to their house for cake to celebrate Rob's 30th!

Have a great week!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful that the kids could walk to school in shorts- in February!

I'm thankful for kids who smell like the outdoors.

I'm thankful my nephew likes the batting helmet we passed on to him that didn't fit Kase anymore. My sister was sending me pictures of him wearing it all day- during snack, on the swing set; it made my day seeing him enjoy it!

I'm thankful for this amazing weather.  I know I sound like a broken record but it's all anyone can talk about around here! We've had several days in a row of over sixty degree temps and it's been so dreamy.  Love it that the kids are getting plenty of fresh air in their lungs and tiring themselves out!

I'm thankful when I find Kase hanging out like this.  He cracks me up. Always doing something acrobatic.

I'm thankful for adventures with my buddy. I can't believe he will be in kindergarten in a few months!

Speaking of kindergarten, I'm thankful that Kase is showing more of an interest in writing.  Lately he will grab a paper and pencil, sit down, and start practicing his letters.

I'm thankful for the "notes" he leaves us by our coffee cups, on our bed, and all over the house. He's so proud of his work.

I'm thankful Kylee didn't seem too upset on Tuesday when I packed a sandwich container in her lunch but forgot to put a sandwich in...oops! Luckily she had plenty of other food to eat.

Happy Thursday, all!

Weekend Wrap-Up

I love long, sunshine-y weekends.  Seriously, it was SUCH a good one.  Wanna hear about it?

Thursday evening the kids had so much fun with neighbors outside.  We were getting rid of some mattresses and the kids were jumping on them, having the best time.  We are loving this warm weather.

Friday while Kase was at school I went to a memorial service for my grandma at Mill Pond.  It was very nice and I was so glad I was able to go. When I picked Kase up from school we went on a picnic at the park and played there for a couple hours. We came home, played outside some more.  We recently got him signed up for Little League so he and I had some fun practicing baseball.  When Kael and Kylee got done with school we played outside some more with friends and neighbors, then grilled burgers for dinner.  It felt like summer!

Saturday morning Kylee had a basketball game, then Kent went to Collins to help his parents who are in the middle of a house remodel.  Kael was volunteering with a youth group event, so Kase, Kylee and I went to my parents' house to hang out. Kylee had fun helping my dad in the backyard!

She found this HUGE crawdad while playing in the creek! She's always up for an adventure and was thrilled to show everyone what she found!

Kael sent me a few pictures from his day of volunteering. The event is called Day of Love, and nearly 200 kids and sponsors from our church go out into the community to volunteer all day long.  I am just so, so proud of Kael and he wanted to participate and loved that when I picked him up, he had a big smile on his face.  He's got such a big heart and has so much to give.  I love that he enjoyed this day!

His group was tagging clothes at Many Hands in Grimes, and he had some fun trying on some of the things.  I love this picture he sent.

Meanwhile, back at our place, after we had played at my parents' for awhile, my sister and niece and nephew came over to play. My sister and I sat in the sun in the backyard while the kids played so nicely together at our house and at the park. She and I rarely get the chance to sit and talk- it was so nice! Just missing Tam! Kent and a bunch of the neighbor guys had fun playing yard games- it was just a great day.

We spent the rest of the evening hanging out with neighbors and friends until it was dark.  Sunday morning Kent and I went for a walk.  Then he had parking duty at church and later we went to his aunt and uncle's house to celebrate Grandma Jenny's 90th birthday! It was really special- and she was so moved, having us all there together to celebrate.  We had a lovely meal, and enjoyed playing outside and catching up with everyone.  The guys got in a game of basketball, Kase challenged everyone to races around the house, and Kylee walked Kevin and Kaity's dog, King, until they could walk no more!

When we got home, we played outside with neighbors and friends for awhile, then later we went to my dad and mom's with some friends to let the kids run around in the backyard.  So hard to believe they were playing in the water in the middle of February!  Kylee had a friend spend the night that night and then yesterday the kids didn't have school.

Kylee and her friend played, and the boys and I made cupcakes.  Kael has been excited to do a test run of some cupcakes he wants for his birthday- so we had fun creating flavors.  They turned out pretty well! Also spent the day getting stuff done around the house, started to get ready for our trip a little, and we played outside between rainstorms.

My nephew was at my parents' house, so Kase went over there to play for a little while. It was a great day!

Hope you had a great weekend too!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful Kael is feeling better (again- poor guy has had a rough spell this winter).  He spent Valentine's Day home from school with a stomach bug.

I'm thankful my mom was able to come hang with him so he didn't have to stay home alone while Kase and I were at our class Valentine parties.

I'm thankful that there is some BEAUTIFUL weather ahead this weekend!

I'm thankful for plans out with friends last night.  So good for the soul.

I'm thankful for how much the kids love their photo books I give them every year for Valentine's Day!

I'm thankful for all the special gifts Kylee works so hard on to give us for Valentine's Day.  She had all sorts of crafts and treats for us!

I'm thankful Kase still gets a Valentine's party with all the treats.  He had so much fun opening all of his goodies after his party!

I'm thankful the kids appreciated the "Heart Attacks" on their doors when they woke up on Valentine's morning.

I'm thankful for silly Valentine traditions like strawberry milk.  It's the only day of the year I buy it for the kids and they love it.

Looking forward to a nice, long weekend since the kids don't have school Monday!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Thursday night we went to kindergarten registration for Kase.  I can't believe that he will be going in the fall.  I know he will be ready, but I will sure miss my littlest buddy around here!

Thursday afternoon Kael came home from bingo at the library and he was so excited to give me one of the prizes he had won- a box of chocolates for me for an early Valentine's gift.  He's got such a big heart.

We also celebrated that night with cupcakes for Kylee's half birthday.  Especially since her birthday falls in the summer, we love to make her half birthday special, even at home!

I came across this picture from last weekend at the Daddy Daughter dance. I just love this one!

Friday, Kylee had her class Valentine party at school.

Friday night Kent and I volunteered at our church's Night to Shine event with our good friends.  It was a great night and such a cool event.  We also had a nice dinner with them out afterwards.

Saturday morning Kase and Kylee had basketball games.  I always love watching them. We spent the rest of the day getting stuff done around the house then later the boys went to the Lego Batman movie while Kylee and I went shopping and got started buying things for our Spring Break trip!

Sunday morning after church we celebrated my dad's birthday.  It was such a fun day.

After lunch and presents we went to the gym my parents had rented for an hour! We had the best time running around, shooting baskets, playing dodgeball and kickball and also Duck, Duck, Goose.

We spent the rest of the afternoon at home.  The kids played outside with friends. Later Kent and I went for a walk and then everyone was in bed early. Looks like it's going to be a warm week so I'm looking forward to spending lots of time outside!

Thankful Thursday

We I'm thankful for warm, fresh baked banana bread delivery from my mom.

I'm thankful for a gentleman who gave Kase a silver dollar at Target.  Kase was so thrilled and said, "the next time I see that guy, I'm going to give him a coin from my piggy bank."

I'm thankful for pictures from Kase's preschool teacher sharing his progress on writing his last name!!

I'm so thankful for sunny, warm days like Monday! Kase and I took advantage of the beautiful weather with a scooter ride to the park.  We spent nearly all afternoon outside.

I'm thankful the red nail polish *mostly* came out of Kylee's carpet.  Eeeek.  Not my favorite way to start a morning.

I'm thankful for the snow yesterday.  As much as I love the warm days, the snow was so pretty and my kids have been anxious for snow to play in!

Happy Thursday!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Hello! How was your weekend? We had a great one!

How hilarious is this photo of Kylee?

We've been playing a LOT of early morning Battleship.

And still building forts.

All over the house.

And building guns out of Trio blocks.

And having light saber duels. Trying to keep ourselves busy to get through winter!

Friday night was the Daddy Daughter Dance.  Kylee had gone a couple years ago and didn't love it.  It was just too loud, too crowded- not her thing.  But she wanted to give it a try again this year and she had a great time!

What a special night.

They went with several neighbor friends.

And they danced the night away!

Here's a picture Kent sent me when he and Kylee went for dinner.

And here's the picture I sent him in return of my dates. Love 'em so much.

Saturday we got a few things done around the house, watched some neighbor girls in a volleyball tournament then Kylee and Kase both had their basketball games.  So fun to watch. Here's Kase's team picture.

Saturday afternoon we spent getting rid of the bunk beds in Kael's room and putting up a different bed (thanks, Keith and Cindy!) The kids had fun sliding down the stairs on the old twin mattresses-ha! Kael loves his new bed and it makes his room look a lot bigger.  We headed out that evening to get some new sheets and stuff for his bed and found out my parents were out for dinner with my niece and nephew at Chili's so we joined them. So fun for the cousins to get to see each other.

Sunday after church we hung out here.  Played a family basketball game outside because the sun was shining so nicely we just had to get out and play even though it was a little chilly! Later the kids played with friends. For the Super Bowl we had some friends come over.  Kids all had a blast playing together and we all enjoyed a commercial bingo game.  What a surprise ending though!

Fun weekends often mean I wake up on Monday mornings with laundry to do, dishes to do, lunches to pack, etc.  But I wouldn't trade it for the world! Made some fun memories this weekend!
