Weekend Wrap-Up

Days are flying by, as they tend to do as summer nears its end.  Can you believe it's August already?!

Thursday we had a great time at the library family fun walk! Lots of neighbors and friends were there and we had a great time doing a mile walk and learning about the Olympics along the way!

The highlight was, for sure, the obstacle course at the end of the walk!

Friday night we spent hanging around the 'hood with neighbors at the park.  It was nice to have some down time.  Saturday morning was cool enough to need blankets when we had breakfast on the deck! Loved the fall-like temps, but am happy they aren't here to stay yet.

Of course we still went to the pool. Seriously if you're looking for us this summer...we're almost certainly at Cascade Falls.

Saturday night was a local concert- the kids had so much fun dancing around to the music and it was a great night with friends.

Kendall asked Kase to sit on her lap, then teasingly pushed him off as she realized how heavy he was. These two are the cutest little buddies.

We had a great spot in the shade.

Sunday after church we celebrated Kylee's birthday (early) with my parents.  Kylee requested Grandma's brownies so we had fun baking them together.

She unwrapped some fun gifts and was so thankful for each one!

We had lunch at Kylee's favorite- Leaning Tower.

My soon-to-be nine year old!

Sunday afternoon Keith and Cindy stopped by for awhile then Kase had a friends' birthday party at Triad.  He had so much fun climbing and jumping!

We spent the rest of the evening playing outside.  Kent and Kael have been playing a lot of football, Kylee played at the park with friends, and one of Kase's friends played here.  We're looking forward to a great week ahead!

Thankful Thursday

I'm so thankful for our pool passes.  So far, if we had spent cash going each time instead of using our passes, we would have spent $596 going to the pool this year.  Makes our pool passes seem totally worth it!

I'm thankful that we ran into my sister and nephew at the library yesterday.  So fun!

I'm thankful that we are *almost* ready for our big trip.  Can't wait for Key West!

I'm thankful that one of my BFF's is the children's librarian in town and keeps me up on the events happening there- she mentioned something she thought Kael might like, so we signed him up and sure enough, he loved it!

I'm thankful that I ran into my old Spanish teacher at the pool on Tuesday.  He saw Kylee at the triathlon and looked up her split times (he is a cross country coach) and asked me if I thought she would be interested in joining the running club.  When I talked with Kylee about it she definitely seemed excited so I'm happy to have found something she wants to do this fall!

I'm thankful for the long hours Kent puts in at work.  While the kids and I are off at the pool/Adventureland all day, he's at work and I'm so thankful his job allows us to live the life we do.

Have a great weekend, all!

Adventureland!

What a beautiful day for Adventureland yesterday! Just look at our fun crew...

Aunt Mandy was the brave one who took the four littles (Huston's not in this picture) on the teacups!

Kylee didn't mind doing some of the smaller rides with her cousins.

Could they be any sweeter?!

For a kid who loves going off the high dive, this one wasn't super excited about the thrill rides.  We took him on the Falling Star almost right away when we got there, and he stuck pretty close to me after that.

He declares his favorite part of the day was feeding the fish-ha!

These fun mirrors are a hit every.single.year!

Kael and Kylee just LOVE Adventureland!

It was pretty hot, so this popsicle/ice cream stop was just what we needed!

A dip in the pool was a welcome break too! Kase loved that he was able to do the lily pads and I loved that I could trust Kael and Kylee to stick together in the wave pool.

These little boats were one of the most hilarious parts of the day.

Kael's legs barely fit!

These two were good buddies all day long.

Towards the end of the day, Kase and I rode the balloons about ten times in a row! Wheee!

We stayed until close- it was so fun seeing the lights come on and have Kael and Kylee ride the very last ride.

We had such a great time! Thanks to my mom for getting us tickets AND staying with us until the very end! Open to close, that's how we do Adventureland!!!

Triathlon 2016!

This has to be one of my favorite days of the year. I just love, LOVE triathlon day!

I could write a book about how all their training and hard work paid off.  I could detail every second of the race. I could tell you their split times for each leg of the competition but truly, all I need to say is that I am so very proud I am of Kael and Kylee and that I love watching them race. I love the smile on their faces as they cross that finish line. I love the support of family and friends who come out to cheer them on. What an awesome event and what a fun day.   Here are some pictures!

Pre-race.  The kids were so excited about their triathlon racing outfits this year! We were also thankful for a friend who hooked us up with some racing belts to pin the kids' race bibs on!

We had lots of neighbor friends in the race this year!

Kase was excited to come cheer Kael and Kylee on!

Kylee's group went before Kael's. I didn't get pictures of the swim since I wanted to be able to be near her during transition.

Look at that smile on her face!

Then I hurried over to the end to see her cross the finish line!

Getting her official chip timer taken off.

I am cracking up at this picture my friend took of me running around trying to make sure I saw both of my kids do everything!

Kael waited so patiently for his group to start!

He had a great swim and great transitions!

His favorite part was the biking.

I love this picture of Kylee cheering Kael  on!

Kent went out to meet Kael on the corner where he needed to turn during his run.  Kael was happy to see Kent out on the course.

He had a strong finish! Sprinted the last half lap!

I love that my mom captured a photo of Kael standing like this.  I can always find him at recess because after he's run hard, he stands with his hands on his head like this.

Post-race pictures! (Kael doesn't love having his picture taken so that's why there are more of Kylee than of him.)

You can tell he finished just seconds before this picture! So hot!

Here is Kylee accepting her plaque.

Loved our cheering section! A BIG shoutout to my parents, Kent's parents and my sister for taking lots of great action shots and for keeping an eye on Kase! Also thanks to neighbors and friends who sent pictures and congratulatory messages all day long!

The rest of the day was pretty great too- we had lunch at the kids' favorite restaurant, then spent the whole afternoon at the pool. This evening my sister and her kids came over for a pizza/park/pajama party!
