Weekend Wrap-Up

Wow, what a weekend!

Backing up a bit, my mom took these three to McDonald's after school one day.  They had the best time.

Thursday, this cutie helped me bake peanut butter cookies.

Friday Kase and I decided to pick up a personal pan pizza and go eat lunch at the park.

Then he fell asleep on the swings.

Friday night this handsome guy took me out for dinner and dessert. We had the best time.

The next morning I got this hilariously awesome picture. Keith and Cindy had taken the kids to the Indoor Playground after school Friday, then to a hotel for a sleepover Friday night.  Kylee was up early the next morning so she and Grandma went and played hangman on her white board in the bathroom so they didn't wake everyone else! My mother-in-law is the best.

Saturday morning we joined them for breakfast at the hotel then spent the remainder of the beautiful day outside!

We even got out the grill and did burgers for lunch. It felt like summer and it was awesome. Saturday night was our school's Fun Night.  The kids had a blast. Kael walked around with his friends, but I got a few pictures of Kase and Kylee.

Kent helped tear down after the event.  This morning the sunrise was so beautiful I went out for an early run and was glad I did- it got super windy and chilly after that! We went to church, then up to Collins for Sunday dinner with the family.  Needless to say, we had some tired kids on the ride home after such a fun weekend!

Sunday evening we went to my parents' house with my sisters and their families.  Had fun playing with a new remote control car my dad had and also ate some amazing cheesecake.  Kent, my dad and the kids took a walk outside.

It was a great weekend!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful the kids are going to spend the evening with Keith and Cindy tomorrow night so Kent and I can have a date night.  So excited! They plan to go to a hotel, which will be so fun.  Kase has been begging me to go swimming lately!

I'm thankful things are going ok with Kent's new job.  It's certainly not easy but he's hanging in there.

I'm thankful the relationship between brothers.  Lately, Kael has been asking if he can tuck Kase in at nights and it has been so sweet watching them read books together.

I'm thankful the weather has been decent enough for me to get back into running and, more importantly, for the kids to be able to play outside after school.

I'm thankful Kase has been feeling better and sleeping better lately.

I'm thankful that Spring Break is only a few weeks away.  The next couple weeks are busy for us with conferences, wrapping up sports seasons, a preschool art show, etc.  I'm really looking forward to a week with few obligations, just hanging with my crew.

Have a great weekend, all!

Weekend Wrap- Up

Our weekend went way too fast.  How about you?

Friday we spent the afternoon outside before heading to Bass Pro to celebrate Kent's grandma Jenny's birthday.  Kael has a neat bond with her and I tried to capture a picture of the two of them.  We had a great time bowling and had a fun dinner even though Kase fell asleep before his food arrived!

Saturday morning it was so nice out.  I fit in a quick run before we headed to Kylee's basketball game, then honestly we spent the rest of the daylight hours outside.  The kids had fun playing with friends, then later we loaded up and went to a friends' house to grill out for dinner.  It felt like summer and it.was.awesome!

Sunday after church we had lunch with my family then headed home to just get stuff done around the house. Spent a little more time playing outside then had a family movie night.

Have a great week!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for the chance to rock my  preschooler to sleep on the rare occasion he needs to nap.

I'm thankful for lazy, snuggly days.

I'm so thankful my kids are so good at the dentist.  The kids and I all had appointments the other day and they did great! No cavities and they sat really well.  Also thankful for Kylee who wanted to check on Kase, and came back to me, gushing, "Mom he just looks so cute! Can I borrow your phone to take a picture of him?"

I'm thankful for the chance to have dinner with one of my best friends last night. It was so, sooo good to see her.

I'm thankful the weather looks like it's going to (finally) start warming up!

I'm thankful it's Friday tomorrow and we don't have many plans for the weekend!

Weekend Wrap-Up

It's been a fun, long weekend!

Thursday was Kase's first school Valentine party.  He was so excited to come home with a bag full of treats!

Friday morning I had a few little surprises for the kids and one for Kent. I knew they wouldn't be getting any candy at school so I got some treats for them, but they turned out to be way more excited about their annual photo books than anything else! Also they loved the little mailboxes and have been spending all weekend delivering sweet notes to each other using them.

Kylee was very Valentiney for school.

Kael too! Both of the kids' parties were very sweet.  I'm so thankful I'm able to go!

Friday night the kids stayed at my parents' while we volunteered at Night to Shine at our church with some good friends.  It was such a cool event- I'm looking forward to next year already!

I got this picture Saturday morning from my dad.  Happy girl!

After Kylee's basketball game on Saturday we had lunch with Kent's family.  This picture of the boys cracks.me.up.

We had a lazy Saturday afternoon and I spent the evening coloring with Kylee in her room while the boys watched a movie.

Sunday, we watched the snow fall, baked some pumpkin bread (Kase is obsessed), then went outside to sled. We were out for quite awhile! Spent the rest of the day just lounging around.

Today is a no school day and Kase is kind of down for the count with a cough and the big kids are content to lay low too.  We ventured over to my mom's this morning to play for a little bit, have lunch together, then home for a nap for Kase.  Kael and Kylee just headed out to the school to go sledding with friends and I imagine we'll spend the rest of the afternoon hanging around here.

Back to routine tomorrow.  How was your weekend?

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful Kael was Main Event at school last week!

I'm thankful Kylee got chosen for the Wall of Fame at school!

I'm thankful Kylee found such a comfortable spot to sit.

I'm thankful a friend invites us to SkyZone with them yesterday. Kase hadn't been for a long time and he had the best time.

I'm thankful my mom was available to pick up Kylee when I got a call that she was sick at school while I was on my way home from Des Moines.

I'm thankful Kylee seems better already. She had a slight fever and a stomachache but it seemed to only last a couple hours and she's doing fine today!

I'm thankful that the Valentine fun starts today! Kase and I both have our parties at preschool then Kael and Kylee have theirs tomorrow.

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Our weekend got off to a fun start with Grandpa Keith visiting us and bringing lunch Friday.  Kase had the best time hanging out with him and I was able to get a few errands done before Kent got home.

What a good sport! Keith even played Pie Face with the kids.

Friday night Kent got home and we were so happy to have him back! He wasn't home for long before he and Kylee were off to basketball practice.  A big thank you to everyone who helped us get through the week while was away!

Saturday morning we celebrated my dad's 60th birthday.  We (kind of) surprised him at his office with cake, balloons, and streamers.  Then we had fun watching him open his gifts. The kids had all made cards for him and we also had a book made with memories and letters from friends for him.  He really liked the book and was so appreciative, so again, thank you to everyone who sent us a memory! It totally made his day!

We then headed off to brunch at Machine Shed.  I love our crew so much.  Someone even stopped by our table and said to my dad, "What a beautiful family you have."  Some people are so sweet!

Then we went back to Dad and Mom's for cake and ice cream, and to  just hang out.  We got out some old boxes filled with memories and photos of my dad and just had a great morning celebrating him.  He's the guy who would do anything for anyone, so it was fun to take a day to honor him! We love you, Dad!

Saturday night we tentatively planned to hang out with friends but Kaser cashed out by 6:45 and the rest of us were pretty wiped too, so we had a family movie night here.

Sunday after church we spent the day just hanging out.  Shooting baskets, playing games, it was a lovely afternoon. Sunday night we had some friends over to watch the first half of the Super Bowl.

It's a big day for Kent as he starts the next step in his job. It will be a long week for him, but I know he's going to be great!

Hope you all had a nice weekend!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful Kent passed his tests because I promised the kids if he did, I would take them to the new candy store in town. They had fun looking around.

I'm thankful Kylee decided to buy something besides this Peanut Butter and Jelly soda.

I'm thankful the sleepover the kids planned in Kase's room didn't last all night.  Kylee bailed by 10:30, Kael at 11:15 and I went back to my own room then too.  Tight quarters. But they had fun reading him books and falling asleep in his bed!

I'm thankful for notes from Kylee, left for me to discover when I go to bed.

I'm thankful for a fun park afternoon with a friend before the snow came.

I'm thankful that my grandma gave me some mini loaf pans.  Kase and I made pumpkin bread as soon as we got them- his favorite!

I'm thankful for my neighbor who texted well before the storm hit, offering to clear my driveway for me.  And he did- twice! So, so thankful!

I'm thankful for Keith and Cindy checking in on me while Kent is away.

I'm thankful for a snow day.  Just one! I don't think we want to be going to school any farther into June, but we sure did enjoy Tuesday.

I'm thankful no one was injured when we opened the door to Fuzzy's tacos and the taco sauce blew off the tables! Locals, have you been to Fuzzy's? Fun place but it wasn't my kids' fave.

I'm thankful Kael and I were able to check out in a reasonable amount of time at Target.  Seriously, I think we were the only people there on that snow day!

I'm thankful the afternoon was nice enough to play outside in the snow!

I'm thankful for cookie baking.

And breakfast making.

And sleepovers at Grandma/Mom's and early morning snuggles.

I'm thankful Kael wanted to decorate a Valentine box this year but sad it's his last class party of elementary school!

I'm thankful this handsome guy will be home tomorrow!!
